VIOLENT INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED!!
S.T.A.R.S. TEAM RUSHES TO THE SCENE!!
Raccoon City, a city in the midwestern United States. Recently, strange and bizarre serial murders have occurred one after another in this city. They're abnormal cases in which victims are slain and eaten.
Bravo Team, belonging to the special law enforcement unit S.T.A.R.S. within the local city police, promptly began investigating the mysterious cases. They discovered information that there was a criminal cult in the forest area on the outskirts. Bravo Team flew into the forest by helicopter. However, in the midst of their mission, contact with them was lost.
S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team also set out to search for the missing Bravo Team. In the woods, they found a fallen helicopter that seemed to belong to them.
As soon as they arrive on-site, they're suddenly attacked by roaring black beasts. At the same time, the members of Alpha Team suddenly raise their weapons and enter a reactive stance.
However the black beasts don't react to the gunfire or display fear. On the contrary, they bear their fierce fangs more and attack them!
The team members gradually begin to retreat. One of the men points in a certain direction while running desperately in the woods to escape from the beasts.
"Everyone run there!''
There was a mansion that looked like a medieval castle, standing eerily quiet...
SURVIVAL STARTS NOW, BEGINNING WITH THE MYSTERIOUS MANSION...

Main Character Guide
S.T.A.R.S. members are in a cursed, terrifying mansion. How many members can escape from this building? Here are some of the cast at the heart of the story.
Chris Redfield (p.028)
A former Air Force pilot who serves as A Team's helicopter pilot. His marksmanship skills are undeniable and there's no one on the team who can match Chris. He's the most dependable guy on the team with great powers of observation and insight.
Jill Valentine (p.030)
A member of S.T.A.R.S. A Team specializing in explosives handling with her dexterity. She enlisted in S.T.A.R.S. in search of "experiences to make her feel alive." A beautiful woman with a somewhat strong-minded personality, she has dexterity and an ability to take action that put the men to shame.
Rebecca Chambers (p.031)
A rookie who has just joined the unit this year. She's a talented woman who repeated accelerated classes and graduated from university at just 18-years-old, with unmatched knowledge concerning chemistry. She has an active personality but is now hardened by the tension and expectations of her first mission, just like a regular rookie.
Barry Burton (p.032)
Within S.T.A.R.S. he's in charge of maintaining and replenishing firearms. He has 16 years experience in this line of work. He's a firearms expert who was transferred from SWAT. He has a quiet personality with a strong sense of justice. He's usually very kind and loves his wife and two daughters. He carries a photo of his family with him at all times.
Albert Wesker (p.034)
A biotechnology specialist. He was an executive of a certain major corporation, but took office as Captain of S.T.A.R.S. several years ago. As he rebuilt S.T.A.R.S. when it was on the verge of being dissolved at the time, he's their so-called savior.

HAZARDOUS LIFE-FORM FILES
Zombie (p.063)
Freak "living dead" that move solely on the instinct of eating, they're biological weapons developed using the "t-Virus" that leaked during an accident. They're the transformed form of humans infected by this. The infection has destroyed all physical functions of the brain, leaving a lethal undead body. Furthermore, the only survivial activity that motivates them is eating things.
Cerberus (p.065)
Attacking "Watchdogs of Hell" expose their combat instinct
One that was put into practical use with the t-Virus. It looks like a large dog but the virus has strengthened its abilities. In addition, they have the ferocity to attack prey relentlessly and tear them to shreds. After the accident, most of them fled and became wild.
Crow (p.066)
Giant crows that grew while eating infected meat
Originally wild crows. However, the crows pecked t-Virus contaminated creatures such as Zombies and the infection made them large and aggressive.
Monster Plant (p.067)
A mysterious plant that blocks the way to protect something
This plant has been growing in the mansion. It has become aggressive due to the effects of the leaked t-Virus. It attacks approaching object as if trying to drive them away.
Yawn (p.069)
A huge snake with a deadly poison that lived on the mansion's second floor
It was originally a creature for experiments on reptile species. It became giant and ferocious under the influence of the leaked t-Virus. It uses the mansion's second floor as an den for feasting on people approaching its burrows. It's said that victims are unlikely to be saved if it bites them with its huge mouth and poisons them.
Adder (p.077)
A den of snakes falling overhead
A species of snake with a highly poisonous bite. They ate dead carcasses contaminated with the t-Virus. They usually sleep in high places, but when they come into contact with prey they fall from above and attack.
Web Spinner (p.097)
A giant spider seeking prey while wandering ceilings
Developed as a bioweapon. However, it exhibited no practicality exceeding expectations and was left unattended. It sticks to ceilings, falls and attacks prey it finds.
Bee (p.098)
A swarm of unusually evolved giant poisonous bees
Honeybees mutated by consuming pollen from a plant under the influence of the t-Virus. They become huge, ferocious and attack anything that approaches the hive.
Neptune (p.099)
A mutant shark that exerts ultimate capabilities in water
Sharks strengthened with the t-Virus for biological testing. The original test didn't show a significant effect on sharks which have a violent nature from the outset, so the finished product was left as it was in the underground aquarium.
Plant 42 (p.101)
Rapidly evolved mutation of experimental plant
This is an interesting plant that was infected with t-Virus and underwent unusual evolution. It became so huge in such a short time that it was left alone. Victims are ingested by roots extending into the basement and it hunts prey with ivy-shaped tentacles to consume nutrients. If you can stop its supply, you can easily beat it.
Hunter (p.111)
The "hunter" or grim reaper that always kills its prey
A type of bioweapon using the t-Virus on humans. It has a body that has been strengthened by incorporating the DNA of other organisms, and it's as close as possible to a finished product as a bioweapon. It's named a hunter because it specializes in pack hunting.
Black Tiger (p.121)
A giant spider that kept quietly evolving underground
A failed experiment that used to be a Web Spinner. It survived underground and continued to grow larger. It uses the underground room as a nest to catch and web food that comes near. Victims continued to arise among the researchers and they later called it Black Tiger as a sign of fear.
Chimera (p.131)
"Insect Men" with a wide range of mobility
These so-called insect men have agile combat abilities and more ferociousness and strength than a Hunter, but intelligence was too low to be put to practical use as a bioweapon. Currently, some clones wander the laboratory.

The Raccoon Times - SPECIAL MISSION UNIT S.T.A.R.S. FORMED (p.024)
The Raccoon Police Department announced yesterday the formation of an expert unit specializing in special missions.
Experts from various fields, both inside and outside the police, will use their skills to investigate & maintain security.
They're expected to serve as a countermeasure against modern crimes & accidents conventional police cannot easily respond to.
S.T.A.R.S. MEMBERS ENGAGED IN NIGHT-TIME SEARCH & RESCUE OP AT REQUEST OF P.D. INVESTIGATION TASK FORCE
UTILIZED IN RECURRING VIOLENT CRIME & TERRORISM
SCHEDULED TO DEPLOY IN CASES OF BC WEAPON COMBAT
The unprecedented formation of personnel in such a police organization aims for immediate response to various diversifying emergencies and violence, such as crimes abusing advanced technology and international terrorism spurred by recent global political unrest. The presence of rescue personnel with specialized knowledge in particular is expected to be effective in rescuing victims in cases of abusing biological and chemical weapons known as BC Weapons. Furthermore, it's unique in that much of the expenses for the creation and maintenance of S.T.A.R.S. are covered by donations. Various businesses have announced their cooperation such as Umbrella Corp. who are the main sponsor of the "Bright Raccoon 21" project aimed at improving the city's environment for the 21st century.
The Raccoon Times - THREE NEW KINDS OF MEDICINE DISCOVERED (p.070)
It turns out plants growing native to the Arklay Mountains on the outskirts of Raccoon possess remarkable medicinal properties. They're said to be effective as herbs, not simply as raw material for new drugs. Even botanical discoveries will draw attention from various fields.
A major feature of the three herbs is that they're similar in shape. Opinions at the conference suggest these three species are subspecies of the same plant
According to a research paper published by Umbrella Corp. researcher Henry Sarton on May 21 in the "Midwestern Science" magazine, three new herbs have recently been discovered. Since their formal and academic names have yet to be determined, they're referred to as "Green Herb", "Blue Herb", and "Red Herb" respectively depending on the specimen's color. The Green Herb restores drops in physical strength caused by injuries and the Blue Herb's a fast-acting antidote to various toxins. Red Herbs are also highly effective as a base when formulating medicines. Umbrella Corp. has announced its policy to use all the power of its pharmaceutical development section to develop new drugs using these herbs.
The Raccoon Times - ALL S.T.A.R.S. OFFICERS DISAPPEAR (p.102)
This afternoon, it was disclosed that the members of the S.T.A.R.S. squad dispatched to the Raccoon forest area have gone missing. Contact's been lost with all 12 squad members and they've absolutely been embroiled in an emergency. P.D. headquarters is struggling with a counterplan.
BOTH A&B TEAMS POSSIBLY GONE
DID THEY HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE SERIAL MURDER GROUP?
The S.T.A.R.S. squad was recently investigating the series of murders that have terrorized Raccoon citizens. Based on intel gathered on the criminal group's hideout, B Team set off by helicopter and went missing, while A Team was dispatched to search for them and apparently failed to contact B Team to verify their helicopter had crashed. It's unlikely more than one helicopter accident would occur, so speculation's been spreading about the implications with a group of vicious criminals who appear to lurk nearby and literally kill and eat people. In an unprecedented situation where a specialist group of elites within the police has completely vanished, there are even growing voices questioning the command of the city police and the capabilities of S.T.A.R.S. itself. Besides the leaders, the following 10 people are missing on both teams.
The Raccoon Times - SELF-DEFENSE RISES RAPIDLY AMONG RACCOON CITIZENS (p.112)
Despite hearing news of the missing S.T.A.R.S. squad, the declining peace and order in Raccoon City must be mentioned. A telephone questionnaire conducted by the newspaper found the majority of citizens were worried. Accompanying this is the purchase of firearms.
A typical shotgun, the Remington 870. It has high power though rapid-fire is impossible
POOR CONFIDENCE IN POLICE DUE TO FREQUENT KILLINGS
SALES IN CITY GUN STORES TRIPLE COMPARED WITH LAST YEAR
To the question "Do you feel anxious and threatened in daily life?", 70% of citizens answered "Yes." To the question "Do you think the police are fulfilling their duties?", only 23% of respondents answered "Yes." Especially in the suburban areas where the bizarre murders occur one after another, we heard only distrust in the police when we asked.
Under these circumstances, considerable damage has spread to all urban industries, including the service industry, but the only boom has been gun stores. Citizens trying to protect themselves and their families without relying on the police have flooded stores in search of weapons, sending sales sky-rocketing. Looking at all of the city's gun stores, sales have tripled from last year and some stores have even run out of stock. According to gun store owners, the top-selling products are shotguns. Rumor has it monsters are appearing that cannot be put down with handguns such as the Beretta, and more powerful guns are gaining in popularity. Among handguns there's also the popular Colt Python which can fire powerful magnum bullets, but it's suited for experienced marksmen since it's expensive and requires skill to handle. Either way, the popularity of firearms is a symbol of a sad situation in which the police can't be relied upon to safeguard the security of citizens.
The Raccoon Times - GRAVE DOUBTS BEHIND THE MYSTERIOUS CASES (p.122)
The serial bizarre murders and strange monsters no longer have a monopoly on the talking points of Raccoon citizens. It has become clear a mysterious document of unknown origin has been sent to this newspaper and other leading news organizations, the content of both containing common hidden points.
A "Black Devil Hound" photographed from point-blank range at great risk (no direct relation between the photo and the article)
UMBRELLA CORP. DENIES ALL ALLEGATIONS
According to the document, the "staggering shadows", believed to be the culprits of the serial murders centered in the vicinity of the Raccoon forest area, as well as the monstrous "Black Devil Hounds" resembling dogs that have been sighted many times in the area, are claimed to be artificially created biological weapons for military application of biotechnology. It sounds like a story from a novel, but we can't necessarily call it a tall tale when considering the testimonies of monsters that don't flinch even when they're shot. The authors further note that the monsters were created by a "major pharmaceutical manufacturer based in Raccoon." Although not named, this is an obvious reference to Umbrella Corp. In an interview with this paper, an Umbrella Corp. spokesperson said, "This document is groundless slander filled with malicious intent," criticizing that, "I cannot understand the nerve in reporting based on unfounded rumors." In addition, they said that in order to prove the company's innocence, they'll take the wraps off their factory in the city and associated research facilities, declaring "By having impartial inspectors, we will make it unquestionably clear that our company's work is completely legal and benefits the health and well-being of our citizens."
The Raccoon Times - SOLVING THE TRUTH OF THE BIZARRE MURDERS IMMINENT (p.132)
Contact has been cut off with all the officers in the Arklay Mountains and it has been discovered that there are survivors in the S.T.A.R.S. squad desperately trying to survive. According to reports, the officers appear to be in a mysterious mansion within the forest area on Raccoon's outskirts. Officials await their soonest possible return.

S.T.A.R.S. OFFICERS' SURVIVAL CONFIRMED
According to a communication sent to the P.D. investigation task force, it has been confirmed that Officer Vickers of A Team is in good health. He's said to be the only officer aboard A Team's helicopter at present, hovering in the sky above the mansion in order to verify his colleagues' safety. At least some members of A Team have been confirmed to have entered the mansion and are believed to be engaging the hiding group of serial killers. Unfortunately, no contact with the mansion has been secured so the current situation and names of other survivors have yet to be confirmed. The investigation task force is considering dispatching support, but the situation inside is unknown and response must be taken with caution, increasing on-site frustrations. With speculation that the monsters appearing in the mansion and its surroundings may be bioweapons becoming more and more realistic, we have no choice but to hope the S.T.A.R.S. squad will persevere with their capabilities in responding to biological and chemical warfare, but it seems the top brass of the police have a bad feeling. Currently in front of the police department, in addition to the press corps, a large number of citizens have gathered after receiving information from TV and radio news, and now await an announcement from the investigation task force. This paper very much hopes these excessively abnormal and shocking cases will be safely resolved and that S.T.A.R.S. will become "stars" of hope for us Raccoon citizens.

FILE OF DECEASED OFFICERS (p.134-138)
The victims who suffered from the incident in Raccoon City are detailed here. In addition, descriptions include the death status of the victims and bereaved family members or relatives should be provided sufficient psychological support when inquiring. Acts such as censorship by outsiders are, of course, prohibited.
Enrico Marini
Age 41
S.T.A.R.S. Vice Captain. Commands as B Team leader. In a passage in the basement of the courtyard on the mansion premises, someone shot and killed him. His legs were seriously injured before his death, and he's believed to have been unable to protect himself from the shooting. Cause of death: Excessive bleeding due to injuries and penetrative wounds on the chest.
Forest Speyer

Tyrant
The ultimate life-form, created by mad scientists

Heart
The bare heart is the Tyrant's weakness. However, you can't make even a single scratch with moderate attacks.
