About the Site
With the merger of Project Umbrella and RE:Digest, we're proud to give a brief history on the website and discuss any questions you may have. The original Project Umbrella website was founded by Krispy, News Bot, Chimera, Neptune, El Bastardo and Mr. Spencer. It began in 2006 in conversations between Krispy and News Bot, as an idea for a barebones FTP web space for hosting cutscene recordings and other media content, simply called "Resident Evil Media." This idea soon evolved into a more complete and wide-ranging website.
Our initial intention was to provide the fanbase with meticulously detailed lore and development information by acting as a compendium of source materials, often hard to find, which would then be compiled into in-depth articles for individual aspects of an ever-growing series. After providing the Resident Evil Community with a wide variety of exclusive content for over a decade, News Bot decided it was time to re-launch the website with a new look, a new team and new goals.
Around the same time, BSAArklay, USS Command, Evil Resident & Reen Hearst were working on a project of their own, a website in the making eventually to be named RE:Digest. BSAArklay (RE:Digest) and News Bot (PU) had already spent several years creating content together, working on translating guides and other materials. BSAArklay told News Bot of the RE:Digest project and they agreed along with the rest of the staff that a merger would be beneficial to all. Nora later joined the team as a mutual friend with many talents to add. With authors, translators, an artist, voice actress, and more, bringing this team together was a logical decision. Our new goals are to honor PU's original ideas such as stated here by El Bastardo....
"With the launch of Project Umbrella, we're hoping to make a statement to the Resident Evil fan community at large. This site has been founded on something more than a love for the series we've all grown up with, it's been founded on an obsession. For too long fans have had to chase up hard-to-find sources to uncover facts about the franchise they otherwise wouldn't have known. Serious debates about the series have gone down the tubes and intellectual discussion has been stretched thin across countless fan sites, instead of maintained and upheld in one place. Project Umbrella is more than just your average site. We're founded on a philosophy of going further than ever before, unprecedented research, excruciating detail, giving RE fans, old and new, what they truly deserve."
But as well as this we would now like to expand PU:RED given the new staff and opportunities afforded via the new website's platform. We aim to engage in a wider variety of content such as podcasts and streams.
Here's to many more years of content hunting and creating.
BSAArklay & News Bot
Q: How do I contact the site owners?
A. You can contact the site owners directly in the comment section below. Or alternitavely at ProjectUmbrella Twitter.
Q. Is anything from the former Project Umbrella website lost?
A. We have managed to move over everything from the former Project Umbrella website, except for the gallery which we plan to recreate from scratch with much more content than ever before.
The articles were also left behind as News Bot plans to re-write also from scratch.
Finally the forum is no longer available however it has been partially archived by BSAArklay and we intend to archive any lore related materials in some fashion over time.

Q: Why is "BIOHAZARD" used on the site, rather than "RESIDENT EVIL"?
A: This is a case of convenience and consistency. Since most series material has only ever been released in Japan and never licensed overseas under "Resident Evil", this means the only name for that material is "Biohazard". Since this site primarily deals with these materials, for the sake of consistency we adopt Biohazard as the standard name.
Q. Why is there no forum?
A. We decided against a forum for this new website. We felt due to the change in times and with social media being the preffered option; that a forum would not be worth investing the time in creating. However we do have our own Discord channel which is similar to a forum. Please join us there for further Biohazard discussions.
Q. Why does the Gallery say coming soon?
A. We plan to bring a brand new Gallery to the website with an extensive archived collection of concept art, digital art and textures. However this may take time to organise and create so we ask to please bare with us during this time and we will bring it to life as soon as possible.
Q: Why are certain terms capitalized in articles, such as "RED QUEEN", or "t-Virus" instead of "T-Virus"?
A: We present nomenclature and terminology as is displayed in official materials.
Q: Why does the file section list the site translation of a file first, Japanese text second, and official translation third?
A: The localizations in this series sometimes contain errors or changes that can lead to contradictions, plot holes, apparent retcons, or quite simply missing information. In order to help identify these and offer a more accurate rendition of the files, we make the original Japanese text available and translate each file with scrutiny and attention to ensure a translation as faithful as our (non-professional) ability allows. The English translations available in the American versions of the games are included to allow people to see differences. We may add more localizations depending on demand.
Q. Why do some of the files have a “Placeholder” image?
A. The file icons are selected from a very large extensive texture archive and locating some can be difficult. We were able to locate some while others are more difficult to find, and some games have no associated images to use. However over time we will continue to search and come across missing file icons which will then be added.
Q. Do you have a Twitch or Stream?
A. You can find a Twitch button on our front page. Alternatively the direct link is: https://www.twitch.tv/projectumbrellatv
Q. Why does the mobile site look different?
A. The mobile site is automatic and cannot be adjusted by the staff unlike the desktop version. Mainly only the spacing is affected and we try to remain on top of inconvinent spacing however due to the vast size of the website it is difficult to spot every error so if you see any issues please report them to us using the "Contact Site Owners form" below. We would appreciate it and make it a priority to fix.
Q. Can I change the mobile site to desktop on my device?
Yes. Simply head to the settings of your mobile phone's internet and look for "Desktop site" on Samsung, other devices will vary but the option should be available in the settings. Once changing the settings for this site to "Desktop site" you should now be able to view the website as intended. We ALWAYS recommend using the Desktop version to view our website as it was created with this format in mind. If you have trouble finding this settings please don't hesitate to contact us and we would gladly try and help you locate it on your device, alternatively we recommend Google searching "How to switch to desktop viewing on (insert name of device)". You may then find guides such as the one seen here for IOS.

Q. Can I become a guest member on a podcast?
A. Yes. Our podcast panel consists of the usual staff members however we plan to alternate guests, including affiliates to the website, Patreon members and supporters in general of the site may be asked to join us.
Q. Why is there no live update widget?
A. The former Project Umbrella website was privy to a live update widget which would inform everyone of the most recent updates. However that is not available using this new web-host, we have been in contact with web-designers and been quoted a price. With support of our patreon members we may consider adding such a feature in the future if in demand. However until that time we will do our best to inform of ALL updates manually.
Q: How can I support the website?
A. If you really enjoy the content you are seeing here and wish to further support our cause of unlocking rare lore and translations. You can help by following us via Twitter and our other social media links found atop the Homepage navi bar. Supporting us around our various social medias would be truly appriciated. However if you already follow us there and want to contribute to the actual supply of content you could support us in providing funding for our projects at our Patreon. We are a non-profit website however we do recieve some funding via our patreon which goes directly back into the website and content. Supporting us would allow us to further acquire content so we can provide it in a free, detailed manner.
Q. Can I request any content?
A. We do take requests, however if regarding content or translations, we ask you that join our Patreon and request it there as it may require purchasing new guides, magazines, etc or translating materials which can be extremely time consuming and/or costly.
Q. Is any content locked behind the Patreon?
A. The only exclusives on the Patreon are timed, early drafts. We feel strongly about making all content available for free, however as a thank you to our Patreon supporters for enabling us to provide such content, we do offer some timed exclusives if only for a brief time. You do not have to be a Patreon member to enjoy everything we have to offer.
