Claire Redfield (p.002)
An inquisitive college student who likes to ride motorcycles. When she visited Raccoon City looking for her missing brother Chris, she was engulfed in a series of events caused by Umbrella. With the help of only a few clues, she follows her brother Chris and infiltrates the Umbrella Pharmaceuticals Paris Laboratory, where she's captured and transferred to a prison on Rockfort Island.
Chris Redfield (p.003)
A former member of S.T.A.R.S., a special forces unit of the Raccoon Police Department. After solving the "Mansion Incident" in the Arklay Mountains of Raccoon City five months ago, he traveled to Europe, Umbrella's homeland, to get to the bottom of the incident. After receiving a message from Claire, he goes to Rockfort Island alone...
Steve Burnside (p.004)
A reckless, perhaps due to his youth, but pure and kind-hearted boy. He's being held in the same prison as Claire on Rockfort Island. He doesn't trust people, probably because he harbors an animosity toward his own relatives. For this reason, even when Claire offers to work with him, he doesn't show any intention of cooperating and heads off alone to search for an escape route.
Alfred Ashford (p.005)
Commander of Rockfort Island. He's a member of the Ashford family, one of the world's most prestigious aristocratic families, his grandfather was one of Umbrella's founders. He's known for his cruel nature.
Alexia Ashford
Alfred's twin sister, so smart she graduated from a famous university at the top of her class at the age of ten-years-old. She appears to live in a private residence on Rockfort Island, but few people have ever seen her.
Albert Wesker
Former S.T.A.R.S. Captain, he was the one who got his subordinate Chris and the others involved in the Mansion Incident. He was believed dead at the time of that incident, however...

Gulp Worm (p.006)
A B.O.W. version of the "Grave Digger" that Umbrella created by applying the T-Virus and genetic modification to an earthworm. Normally it hides underground but when a predator approaches, it jumps out of the ground to attack.
Bandersnatch
A new B.O.W. model. A prototype created as a result of repeated research into manufacturing a highly versatile Tyrant. The origin of its name seems to be taken from a description in "Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There": "A frumious Bandersnatch is harder to stop than time."
Enhanced Hunter
A "certain organization" acquired the Hunter developed by Umbrella and succeeded in modifying a new organism, as well as controlling its behavior by utilizing "robotic probes." There's also a type called "Sweeper" with toxic claws.
Albinoid (p.007)
A creature created by applying genetic engineering and the T-Virus to a salamander. It characteristically grows while its body metamorphoses like an amphibian, capable of growing to a size of over two meters in just a dozen hours. It's able to move on both land and water, as well as discharge electricity.
Tyrant
The ultimate B.O.W., based on the body of an adult male subjected to T-Virus infusion and genetic enhancement/remodeling. The type stored on Rockfort is a mass-produced Tyrant with improved control, which was a concern at the prototype stage. It's normally used as a type with reduced combat capabilities in order to maintain its humanoid form, but this time it's been deployed with its limiter disengaged.

BIOHAZARD CODE:Veronica UNOFFICIAL FILE ~In-Depth Story Examination~ (p.190-195)
THE "BIO" SERIES' PROGRESS
"BIOHAZARD CODE:Veronica" is the fifth installment in the BIO series. It's difficult to grasp all its mysteries after just one playthrough. Let's take a look at some of the many mysteries and unspoken facts about the game.
Four games have been released thus far: " BIOHAZARD", "BIOHAZARD 2", "BIOHAZARD 3 LAST ESCAPE", and "BIOHAZARD GUN SURVIVOR". For those of you who've played them, you're aware they're all part of a larger storyline, and this one's no exception.
The major storyline begins with the Mansion Incident in BIOHAZARD. Chris and Jill, members of the special forces unit S.T.A.R.S., are the main characters in this case. A biological disaster, or biohazard, occurs in the outskirts of Raccoon City, a small town in the U.S., and a horrific conspiracy by Umbrella Pharmaceuticals is revealed. The mastermind behind this incident is Wesker, the Captain of S.T.A.R.S. and a member of Umbrella. However, he also went his own way separately from Umbrella, resulting in the mansion's destruction.
After that, the situation appears to be under control, but a conspiracy was going on beneath Raccoon City. Umbrella Pharmaceuticals has a large plant in Raccoon City, and the city's upper management, from the chief of police to the mayor, were puppets of Umbrella. The result was a bio-disaster breaking out in Raccoon City as well. Through the escape of rookie cop Leon and Chris's sister Claire (BIOHAZARD 2) and Jill's desperate investigation (BIOHAZARD 3), the conspiracy seemed to be slowly coming to light, but in the end, Raccoon City was destroyed by a missile fired by the US military...
In CODE:Veronica, Claire, Chris, and the other survivors of these series of events set out to discover Umbrella's true identity and expose their evil deeds. If you haven't experienced any of the other games, please play all of them in order to understand the grand story.
May 11
A biohazard occurs inside a mansion in the Arklay Mountains on the outskirts of Raccoon City. The mansion belongs to Oswell E. Spencer, a powerful man within Umbrella.
• Since at this stage the bio-disaster was only in the mansion's vicinity, Umbrella blocked information and tried to get the situation under control. At the same time, they instructed Umbrella member Wesker to send in S.T.A.R.S. personnel in order to test the escaped B.O.W.'s. Dr. William Birkin, developer of the T-Virus and various B.O.W.'s, moved to the underground laboratory in Raccoon City after escaping from the mansion.
July 23
S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team's dispatched to solve the bizarre cases, caused by the bio-disaster. However, they disappear shortly thereafter.
July 24
S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team's dispatched to search for Bravo Team and solve the case, and they enter the mansion.
July 25
The mansion and its underground laboratory explode in flames.
• The Mansion Incident concluded with the destruction of the facility and annihilation of B.O.W.'s by S.T.A.R.S. The S.T.A.R.S. side had five survivors: Chris, Jill, Barry, Brad, and Rebecca. Wesker, the traitorous Captain, was missing. He also cut contact with Umbrella.
August 8
Creatures that appear to be infected with the virus are witnessed in Raccoon City.
• S.T.A.R.S. survivors Chris and Barry headed to Europe to investigate Umbrella. Jill stayed behind to investigate the research facility.
September 23
A large amount of T-Virus is released into Raccoon City. A bio-disaster spreads throughout the city. Later, the Raccoon Police Department's attacked and communication devices are destroyed, cutting off all contact with the outside world.
• While G-Virus experiments in the underground lab were proceeding, waste leaked from the lab. At this stage, Chris had reported the existence of the G-Virus to U.S. senators, and the U.S. military began to move in. Umbrella also deployed the new B.O.W. Nemesis-T (Pursuer) to eliminate S.T.A.R.S., who know their secrets.
September 28
Jill begins to take action.
• Dr. William injected himself with the G-Virus to prevent the U.S. military and Umbrella from stealing his research. Having become a B.O.W., Dr. William was eventually defeated by Leon and Claire, but the G-Virus was recovered by Umbrella special forces agent HUNK.
September 29
Rookie cop Leon and Chris' sister Claire arrive in Raccoon City.
September 30
Leon and Claire escape Raccoon City with a survivor, Sherry. Afterwards, Claire heads to Europe.
Early October
Jill escapes from Raccoon City. However, a missile's dropped on the city and Raccoon City vanishes from the map. The missile was dropped by the U.S. government.
• U.S. intelligence contacted Leon, Raccoon City's number one survivor. The purpose of this is unknown, but it seems Leon currently works under orders from an intelligence agency.
December
Claire, who had infiltrated Umbrella's Paris Laboratory in pursuit of Chris, is captured and sent to Rockfort, a prison island. Chris sneaks onto Rockfort Island in pursuit of Claire to rescue her.
• Rockfort Island was attacked by a mysterious organization, causing a third biohazard. Afterwards Alfred, Rockfort's commander, escaped to the Antarctic Base on his own.

WHERE'S ROCKFORT ISLAND?
In the prologue, the main character, Claire, is captured and taken to an isolated island. This isolated island's called Rockfort Island, and the only thing we know about it from official documents is that it's located in South America. But isn't it possible to deduce a little more detailed information?
The first clue's the scene in the second half of the game where you travel to Antarctica. Here, Claire and Steve reach the South Pole in a transport plane with four propeller engines. The American military's C-130 Hercules is about the same size and performance as this transport plane, but it has a range of about 4,000 kilometers, meaning it's most likely to be located within 4,000 kilometers of Antarctica. That narrows it down to Chile or Argentina in South America.
Are there any other clues? The first place Chris goes into is a catacomb. We know from Alfred's Diary it was dug by the locals. These graves are reminiscent of Christian catacombs. However, this isn't a clue for us since both Chile and Argentina are almost the same in composition, with 90% of the population being Catholic and the rest Protestant and Jewish.
The only remaining clues are circumstantial, but we'll explain one. The Umbrella Corporation, no matter how powerful its political strength is, has only a limited number of places where it can leave its home base in Europe to develop biological weapons, which is akin to military action. In other words, Rockfort Island's location is likely to be a country that doesn't have the military might to interfere with their weapons development on a significant scale, or a country already under Europe's political thumb. Let's take a look at Argentina. Argentina's a country that once fought the British over the Falkland Islands. After the defeat, there was a great deal of criticism of the Argentinian military, which until then had been under a military government. Considering this fact, we can infer Argentina and the Falkland Islands are perfect places for Umbrella to operate. Furthermore, the British Falkland Islands are the best place to directly bring Claire, who was kidnapped in Paris, but that's as far as we can go with our guesses. The rest is up to each player to find the "truth".
BASICS ABOUT THE TORTURE CHAMBER
A torture chamber in the basement of the prison medical wing on Rockfort Island. This is a torture chamber the sadistic Alfred had his doctor build for him to use for his own desires. When Claire examines the torture devices in this room, she doesn't seem to understand what they're used for. It'd be strange for a college girl to know so much about torture devices, but we all want to know what they are. So, let's have a quick look at these torture devices.
First of all, there's a cage suspended in midair on the left as you enter the room. This is a fishing cage or birdcage, used for exposure punishment. Originally, it was used for torture by exposing people to the elements during the cold winter months, but here it seems to have been used in combination with water torture. The large wheel on the right hand side's a water wheel for water torture. It was used to torture criminals by strapping them on their backs, rotating them, and dipping them in water. A similar torture device is used in the movie "The Long Kiss Goodnight." And the iron coffin-like thing in the basement. That's the famous Iron Maiden. There are iron spikes on the inside of the front lid, and when the lid's closed, the spikes pierce the body of the victim inside, but the spikes seem to have been designed to prolong suffering without hitting vital points.
The guillotine outside isn't a torture device. On the contrary, it's an execution tool for euthanasia, designed to execute criminals in a single breath with as little suffering as possible. For your reference.
ALFRED'S A WEAPONS NERD?
Alfred, the ostensible master of the Ashford family, has a collection of firearms and weapons. He's probably aware of his inferior abilities compared to his sister Alexia, which is why he has become devoted to weapons as a symbol of power, but his collection of weapons is uncommonly large.
One of the most conspicuous items is a tank in the training center's yard, reminiscent of a Tiger I. Another's a tank in the airfield from the official residence. He also took the trouble of using a submarine-type elevator to get from his official residence to the airfield. In addition, there are golden guns (Lugers) that act as the key to a door, a model tank that functions as the key to a hidden passageway, and many other weapons. His wardrobe must be lined with military uniforms.
ALFRED'S SICK MIND
Alfred's an unparalleled military enthusiast and a natural psychopath. If you play the game all the way through, you'll understand his mind's deeply troubled. But what kind of abnormal tendencies did he actually have?
First of all, the most shocking thing was that he wore his sister Alexia's clothes, wore makeup, and even changed the tone of his voice to become her. This is what's called multiple personality, or more accurately, dissociative identity disorder. In the real world, especially in Japan, it's not recognized as an official symptom of psychosis, often treated as schizophrenia. Multiple personalities have the peculiarity that one personality knows there's another personality, while the other personality's unaware of it. In Alfred's case, the scene where he's surprised to see himself with makeup on in the mirror indicates Alexia's the higher personality (aware) and Alfred's the lower personality (unaware). This may be because Alfred, who lost the object of his dependence after Alexia went to sleep for the experiment, fabricated Alexia's personality in order to protect his fragile spirit. While he proclaims "I will protect Alexia", in reality, he was sheltered by Alexia's personality.
There's also a scene in which Alfred plucks the wings of a dragonfly and gives it to ants when he was a child. Psychiatrists have reported that this abuse of small animals and insects isn't just a sign of cruelty, but also a hidden dissatisfaction with parents. This is a reliable fact, as Alfred's Diary contains a scornful description of his father Alexander.
In addition to this, Alfred's abnormalities can be seen in many other aspects. The fact he even prepared a full-fledged torture chamber suggests he was a man with a taste for sadism and aggression, and his love for his twin sister Alexia, who looks exactly like him when he dresses as a woman, suggests the possibility he was narcissistic. It's important to understand, however, that people with abnormal tendencies and special preferences, such as those mentioned above, don't necessarily become abnormal people like Alfred. If you don't understand this, discrimination based on ignorance will prevail. Please be careful.
CLAIRE'S SECRET PARTNER?
When you think of Claire's most dependable partner, who do you think of? Her partner, Steve, is always there to help her out in the most memorable scenes, but he can be a bit unreliable at the most critical moments. On the other hand, her older brother, Chris, is a former member of the Air Force and the special forces S.T.A.R.S. He's also very capable, but he loses his gear on the way to infiltrate the island and has to venture into enemy territory nearly unarmed, so he's not as reliable as Steve.
Then, we'd would like to draw your attention to the mysterious man, D.I.J.. You can find out more about him in the "D.I.J.'s Diary" file available in the Battle Game. This diary's written by D.I.J., and although the narrative's cool, it's a passionate log of how he kept his eyes on Claire from the isolated island to the Antarctic during this incident. However, I don't think we've ever seen a figure like that while playing... Does it suggest he's a stalker? It'll be interesting to find out who D.I.J. really is, as he leads a thrillingly crazy life.
THE BIGGEST MYSTERY OF ALL! WHAT'S THE TRUE IDENTITY OF THE ORGANIZATION WHO ATTACKED THE SOLITARY ISLAND?
Perhaps the biggest and final mystery of this title's the identity of the organization that attacked Rockfort Island and also sent Wesker to capture Alexia. There's almost no information about this organization that can be found in the game. Let's take a look at the few pieces of information we do have.
The first thing we know is of course that this organization's hostile to Umbrella, or at least to the Ashford family. We also know they've got the same level of technology as Umbrella, since they've enhanced the Hunter to a practical level. If this organization has nothing to do with a government, we can assume it's a pharmaceutical and medical company like Umbrella, with the know-how to create bioweapons. Incidentally, although we can't be sure if it's the organization's name or not, you can see Wesker's affiliated with them, being dispatched by the organization on his Battle Game status screen. The name of the organization's "HCF". The "F" at the end is probably a good name for an organization, either FORCE (military) or FOUNDATION. The problem, however, is that H and C could be proper nouns, so there's no way to guess. If it's an abbreviation of common nouns, it could be... for example, Habitat Control Foundation or Human Complement Force. It's a pity, but we should probably leave it a mystery at this stage and look forward to the next installment. If you look up the abbreviation H.C.F. in the dictionary, it means Highest Common Factor.
