Basilisk Virus
Two Umbrella researchers named Alex and Brian betrayed their employers and raided the Umbrella facilities in Raccoon City during the t-Virus outbreak there. They managed to steal data on various B.O.W.s along with a sample of the G-Virus. As the G-Virus was unfinished and impractical, they attempted to finish it or otherwise make it suitable for B.O.W. production.
By combining the G-Virus with snake DNA, a new strain was created. The researchers named this new strain the Basilisk Virus. "Basilisk" is a cryptid snake in European mythology which was said to be king of the serpents. A single glance from a Basilisk snake was said to be able to kill a person. The Basilisk Virus was noted to create monsters with "demonic" traits". As such, the B.O.W.s created by the Basilisk Virus were often named after the demons listed in the Lesser Key of Solomon (a 17th century demonology grimoire). The Basilisk Virus was eventually used to create a super bio-computer called the "Vasilisk System" in the year "20XX". Using the Basilisk Virus and Vasilisk System computer as a foundation, Alex and Brian created the Vasilisk Corporation.
The Vasilisk Corporation continued to refine and stabilize the Basilisk Virus, apparently by injecting it into different kinds of animals. The original t-Virus was stabilized ("weakened") in a similar manner - recombination in the cells of various animal hosts creates new mutations and causes the virus to become less toxic to different forms of life. Many different Basilisk strains were produced across development. Other viruses such as t-Veronica and the t-Virus may have been incorporated into Basilisk strains as well. These experiments were rushed so that Vasilisk could have a presence on the B.O.W. market, which led to a number of accidental outbreaks. |
As the Basilisk Virus was primarily based on the G-Virus, understanding how G works is the key to understanding Basilisk. The G-Virus caused its hosts to be gradually replaced by newly formed "G-Cells". These cells were supposed to mimic the cells of the host, creating a perfect copy of them. However, the G-Cells would typically deviate from the host during development due to G’s unfinished nature. This led to random mutations and eventually to the development of new lifeforms totally distinct from the original host.
It was revealed with the C-Virus (which also used elements from G) that by introducing animal DNA into the virus, the new cells would replicate the animal. This allowed the development of the new cells to be predictable and even controlled, which would consequently allow a person with the right resources and know-how to create any kind of B.O.W. they wanted.
In regard to Basilisk, it is likely that fusing the G-Virus with snake DNA would in effect focus the way the G-Cells would develop, making the virus less unpredictable. It would also ensure the cells developed traits inherent to reptiles - specifically ones desirable in a B.O.W., like predatory evolution.
Another possible reason for including snake genes could be intelligence. One of the major pitfalls of G-Mutants was mental deterioration. Including reptile DNA could actually help counteract this, for the same reason it helped Hunter intelligence, as described in the biohazard 0 Kaita Shinsho guidebook:

Including reptile DNA could actually help counteract this, for the same reason it helped Hunter intelligence, as described in the biohazard 0 Kaita Shinsho guidebook:
Intelligence decline, the bottleneck of human hosts, is caused by the t-Virus thoroughly eroding the dominant cerebral neocortex. Therefore the Hunter uses the genes of lower class organisms with only instinctive old brains such as the brain stem and cerebellum which have been discovered to compensate for cerebral functions and improve controllability.
The Basilisk Virus would cause snake-like “Basilisk Cells” to gradually replace the host, which would cause extremely dramatic changes in the biology of the host. The weakened nature of Basilisk when compared to G may have limited the growth of new cells, making it possible for the host to not be totally consumed in some cases.
Basilisk B.O.W.s were often characterized by red, muscle-like tissue and large claws, which were carried over from the G-Virus and resembled the features of G-Birkin. The snake DNA in Basilisk also caused the emergence of sharp teeth, tails, and scales in many of the creatures. They also often developed glowing red eyes, which is a common mutation tendency in Progenitor Virus variants. Oftentimes, only the right eye of Basilisk mutants would glow.
The glowing eyes, red flesh, and serpentine features of Basilisk monsters is what gave them their demonic appearance. The eyeball growths synonymous with G-Virus infection were seemingly removed in Basilisk, much like they were with t+G.

The creatures pictures above are named Andrealphus, Marchocias, and Storas, in order from left to right.
With each new animal used in Basilisk experiments, the virus would continue to assimilate traits from distinct species, then use them in the construction of Basilisk cells. Many Basilsik B.O.W.s had traits taken from a varity of animals, which this assimilation could account for.
Using the power of the G-Virus to create new cells using foreign DNA, the C-Virus could replicate other animals using human hosts. Other humans, such as Ada Wong, could even be perfectly replicated by the virus. This was seemingly used for Basilisk as well - the Vasilisk Corporation created many B.O.W.s that resembed an assortment of different kinds of animals. These creatures could also have been created in much the same way the Hunter was – by splicing animal genes into human embryos while using the virus (in this case Basilisk) as a retroviral vector.
Some of these mutants may not even have been human-based, like the Clan Bosses. The distinction is sometimes impossible to identify thanks to the G-Virus' ability to create new life.
Thanks to the same potential to recreate other animals, the Basilisk Virus was also seemingly used to clone older B.O.W.s previously created by the Umbrella Corporation.
The Basilisk Virus was also used to create artificial limbs for amputees. This was owing to the power of the G-Virus to form new body parts. After Vasilisk Corporation agent Apis Lavine lost his right arm, he was given a replacement arm comprised of Basilisk Cells and cybernetic parts.

Vasilisk System
The Vasilisk System was a supercomputer used to create complex simulations for the Vasilisk Corporation (which was named after the computer). This computer was biological in nature and was created using the Basilisk Virus. There is actually some precedence for this in the Resident Evil series: the NE-α was an artificial brain created using the t-Virus which could boost its own processing power by "plugging" into other brains (like a dual-core CPU).
The G-Cells created by the G-Virus were capable of creating totally new human-based brains. This element may have been what was used with the Basilisk Virus to create the bio-computer.
The Vasilisk System created a simulation that was also called "Vasilisk". It was able to simulate past events while adding new data, like the presence of different people or B.O.W.s in the Raccoon City incident. It is unknown where the bio-computer acquired the data it used to create these simulations. It is possible that it used a combination of complex equations, reports of past events, and even human memories: the Vasilisk System was capable of remotely "connecting" to humans in proximity to it, gaining access to their memories in the process. The connected person could be forced into the simulation itself. To the perception of the person, it would appear as if they were transported into another world. This happened to Claire Redfield, who upon infiltrating a Vasilisk Corporation lab was suddenly thrown into a simulation based on the Rockfort Island Incident she was a part of in 1998. Her memories influenced the outcome of the simulation, and she was even able to alter it and save a simulated version of Steve Burnside.
Vasilsik seemed to use simulations of past outbreaks created by Progenitor Viruses and Las Plagas to acquire extensive combat data on B.O.W.s, so that they could be recreated using the Basilisk Virus. In this way, even lost B.O.W.s like the Tyrant Reborn were recreated. The Vasilisk System itself may have had a part in the production of said B.O.W.s, using both the data it accumulated and its own biological processes. The Vasilisk Simulation was also used to test simulated versions of new B.O.W.s that Basilisk created, which would be a much safer alternative to gathering data from real-world combat.
The ability of the Vasilsik System to remotely link to human brains borders on telepathy. In the Umbrella Chronicles novelization, Albert Wesker acquired telepathic powers as a result of his infection with a t-Virus and was able to infiltrate and experience the memories of Sergei Vladmir. The Vasilisk System may have used some related power.

Basilisk B.O.W.s and Mutants
Most information regarding the various B.O.W.s created by the Vasilisk Corporation is currently lost, but there are some shreds of information available. Some Basilisk Virus-created monsters were rejected failures while others were perfected products.
Innocence - The Vasilisk Corporation created a special kind of B.O.W. by injecting the Basilisk Virus into human children no older than 12 years old. These children retained their human forms, which allowed them to be used to infiltrate enemy territory. This is a concept very much similar to that behind the E-Series B.O.W.s created by the Mold. Once behind enemy lines these children could trigger drastic transformations that turned them into monsters. They could also reverse these transformations. Due to their innocuous appearance these B.O.W.s were called "Innocence".
One Innocence was a girl named Mel Lavine. She was the younger sister of Apis Lavine, an agent of the Vasilisk Corporation. Apis confronted his sister in a mutated state, but she was able to eventually revert to her human form.
In her mutant form Mel grew tentacles (an aspect of the G-Virus) from her back, which had scales (snake DNA).

Mel Lavine also apparently had another brother, a twin who was also turned into an Innocence B.O.W. Mel helped Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine fight off her mutated twin.
The boy Innocence was depicted with a snake head for a hand. This head could be seen as a separate organism, similar to how G-Birkin developed a second head from his G-Cells. His arm also seemed to possess a snake tail.

Strange Maria – This mutated woman had two separate forms. Her new cells were very insect-like. She may have had some connection to t-Veronica.
Sasaki - Professor Sasaki, after injecting himself with Basilisk, developed a spider-like growth on his back. At first Sasaki retained his personality, but as the “spider” continued to grow and envelope him he gradually degenerated into a feral monster. This transformation was reminiscent of G-Birkin’s transformation process due to the Basilisk being based on the G-Virus. The form shown below featured a mouth on its chest reminiscent of G-Birkin's lamprey eel chest-mouth. This form (along with the chest-mouth) also resembled the Man Spider.
Rudra/Rudora – Rudra was the head of Vasilisk security. After transforming into a monster, he developed a Tyrant-like body. This could suggest that he was infected with some variant of the t-Virus, perhaps in addition to the Basilisk Virus. His sharp teeth were likely influenced by the snake DNA in Basilisk. His right eye glowed red.
Infected Cop - This Motor Officer presumably became infected with the Basilisk Virus, causing his arm to be replaced by Basilisk tissue. This could have been the very start of his transformation, similar to G-1.
Cyborg Monsters – Vasilisk experimented with applying cybernetics to B.O.W.s like Umbrella did with T-A.L.O.S. These monsters were entirely comprised of Basilisk tissue. By comparing these with several other Basilisk mutants, their appearance, minus the cybernetics, may have represented “generic” Basilisk mutants.
The creature shown in the left image below, called "Hell's Claw", contained both cat and insect DNA, making it a genetic chimera. The creature shown in the right image was called Glasyalbolas. It appeared to have hooves, implying it was also a genetic chimera.

Classic B.O.W. Clones – The Vasilisk Corporation used the data gathered from simulation of past outbreaks to recreate older B.O.W.s used by the Umbrella Corporation and other organizations like TRICELL. The Basilisk Virus was apparently used to create these clones, due to the ability of the G-Virus to cause new cells to mimic an existing organism. The inclusion of this virus caused the clones to inherit new traits typical of Basilisk mutants. These creatures were identifiable as Basilisk clones by their glowing red eyes and by the Vasilisk logo imprinted on their bodies.
Many of the creatures cloned by Vasilisk were Tyrants, such as the Super T-103, the Nemesis-T Type, the Tyrant Reborn, and the Hypnos-T Type. The clone of the Tyrant Reborn, shown below, had a tail, which was likely due to the snake DNA in Basilisk. Other creatures such Lickers, Blobs and even the Uroboros Test Subject and Tofu were cloned. Each of these monsters were typically called "Vasilisk Clone" followed by a number.
While the process used by Vasilisk allowed previously lost B.O.W.s to be recreated, clones created by the Basilisk Virus tended to have "power instabilities" of some kind.

Cyber Gator - This creature was seemingly a Basilisk Clone of the infected Alligator in Raccoon City, which had grown many times its original size as a result of t-Virus infection. It was also a Cyborg B.O.W. in that metal and possibly cybernetic parts were used to improve it. Like other Basilisk Clones the alligator had a single glowing red eye. The image below and to the left shows the original gator while the image on the right shows the cloned version and the improvements made to it.
Unknown Plant Monster – This infected plant (or animal replaced with plant-like Basilisk cells) appeared to have been based on a flower from the Rafflesia genus (supported both by the flowers on the monster and by the vines beneath it). Another, much more passive Rafflesia mutant was created in Raccoon City when the t-Virus infected the rafflesia arnoldii featured at the Raccoon Zoo. Vasilik likely based this plant monster on data gathered from simulations featuring the Racoon Rafflesia.
G-Chimera – A Vasilisk B.O.W. created by recreating a Chimera with the G-Virus instead of using the t-Virus, resulting in a more powerful creature. This is essentially the same thought-process used for the Blade creature from the Stylish version of Resident Evil 3.5 - a t-Virus hybrid created using the G-Virus instead. The G-Chimera may have been cloned with Basilisk, but any information supporting this is dubious at best.
Wesker Clone – Among the clones created with Basilisk was a recreation of Albert Wesker, made using a DNA sample acquired by the Vasilisk Corporaton. Despite the near invulnerability of the original Wesker, this clone had problems with power stability, much like the other Basilisk clones. His left arm was replaced with Basilisk cells that failed to replicate Wesker’s arm, making it take a form typical of Basilisk mutants. The clone retained some of Albert's habit of wearing sunglasses, perhaps due to genetic memories.
Holiday B.O.W.s - There were special variants of classic B.O.W.s available for use in Clan Master during corresponding holiday events, such as ones for Christmas and Valentine's Day.
Basilisk Zombie – Like the G-Virus before it, Basilisk could apparently create Zombies as well, presumably by injecting the virus into corpses. These Zombies seemed to be characterized by red eyes. The leftmost picture below is of a scientist who tried to help the BSAA before she was killed and Zombified. According to USS Command: “Later she became a running gag for the more 'Japanese' aspects of the game, hence why she's posing like that”. The rightmost picture is of a "Clown Zombie", although it is unknown if it was created by the Basilisk Virus or by the t-Virus.
Clan Bosses
"Clan Creatures" or "Clan Bosses" were special monsters that each represented a different team in the "Clan Battle" feature of Biohazard Clan Master. It is not known if the Clan Bosses had any lore significance or if they figured into the plot of Clan Master.
There were three known Clan Bosses, each of which seemed to represent a different virus created by the Umbrella Corporation - the t-Virus, G-Virus, and t-Veronica Virus. They may have still been creations of the Basilisk Virus, as evidenced by certain traits they possessed. This incongruity could be simply explained by them containing multiple strains of virus at once.
Each Clan Boss had three separate forms. Interestingly, each Boss had a nearly identical first form - a relatively normal-looking lizard, like the one featured on the Vasilisk Corporation logo. This is in spite of the fact that each Clan Boss had a human-like appearance following transformation. This may be due to the potential of the G-Virus to transform one organism into another. This would be the reverse of what was commonly seen with the Complete Mutation Species created by the C-Virus: instead of animal-like B.O.W.s being created from human hosts, the Clan Bosses were human-like B.O.W.s created from animal hosts. This also demonstrates the evolutionary potential of the virus. Each Clan Boss was also themed around a certain color. The otherwise identical lizard forms each possessed a distinct color to differentiate them from each other, which they often retained as they transformed.
The purpose of the Vasilisk Corporation making Clan Bosses possess a lizard form may have been to make it easier to smuggle the creatures around without arousing suspicion. If the lizard forms were small in size, they could have had an infiltration role similar to that of the Albinoid B.O.W.

Each of the three Clan Bosses are shown below:
Barbas - This Clan Boss seemed to be themed around the t-Virus and the color blue. It had Super-Tyrant-like claws and a tail (likely meaning it had reptilian traits from the snake genes in the Basilisk Virus). Its final form resembled a centaur with an exposed heart like that on many Tyrants. The development of extra legs was likely a holdout of the G-Virus within Basilisk.
Balam - This Clan Boss seemed to be themed around the G-Virus and the color red. In its final from it developed tentacles and eye growths, which were traits characteristic of G.
Bael - This Clan Boss seemed to be themed around the t-Veronica Virus and the color green. It developed traits similar to those of Alexia Ashford along with Basilisk-like lower arms. Its final form had wings, like the dragonfly form of Alexia.
Succubus Virus
Following a Basilisk Virus outbreak, a new strain of the virus appeared as a result of wild mutation. This strain could turn human hosts into superhumans with enhanced strength, reflexes, and senses. But it had a certain peculiarity - it only worked on hosts that were biologically female. The Vasilisk Corporation, in keeping with the demonic theme of the Basilisk Virus, named this strain the Succubus Virus. Succubus is a name for demons that take on the form of women to seduce men.
Following the discovery of the Succubus Virus the Vasilisk Corporation changed its security force to an all-female team and injected them all with the virus. Rudra, as leader of the force, may have been the exception to this. It is not known if the virus, as a derivative of the G-Virus, replaced them with new cells, or if the emergence of new cells was suppressed in Succubus.
Why the Succubus Virus only turned biological women into superhumans is a mystery. It is possible that this strain became more compatible with women due to recombination with the DNA of a female host. The virus either targeted some aspect of female biology or triggered an autoimmune response in men for whatever reason. There are gender-specific hormones that influence the immune response, after all. The t-Phobos Virus did the reverse – it killed women and mutated men.

Lilith - a host to the Succubus Virus.
Like other superhumans created by other strains of the Progenitor Virus, Succubus mutants could willfully trigger physical mutations in their bodies. These mutations were likely triggered by certain intense emotions. The left arm of Lilith, a Succubus mutant, transformed her left arm into a form resembling typical Basilisk mutations. Blood vessels running alongside her left side were also influenced by this mutation.
Clarice, a mercenary employed by Basilisk and infected with the Succubus Virus, developed heterochromia - one of her eyes was a different color than the other. Her left eye became red while her right eye remained the same color it was prior to mutation. It is possible that her left eye was flooded with blood due to burst vessels, which is a symptom of G-VIrus infection.
The pupils in both of Clarice's eyes transformed into reptilian slits. While it is possible that this was a byproduct of the snake genes in the virus, it is more likely that it was a result of a latent mutation tendency in the Progenitor Virus - humans that adapt and evolve in response to Progenitor, the t-Virus, and Uroboros often developed slit pupils. Clarice's right eye could glow red, like other Basilisk mutants, but would only do so when she felt anger, much like the eyes of other superhumans like Albert Wesker or Natalia Korda. This would further suggest that the overall biological state of Succubus hosts was comparable to those individuals.
