ETHAN WINTERS
AGE: 33
HEIGHT: 180cm
WEIGHT: 75kg
A systems engineer residing in Los Angeles. He lost his wife Mia in an accident at sea three years ago and hasn't been able to recover from the grief. He headed for Dulvey, Louisiana after suddenly receiving an e-mail from her asking for him to meet her, although he half-doubts it. He has lived a very ordinary life and has no experience devoting to sports, but is blessed with more than average physical strength. While he's embroiled in the mysterious incident, he'll also display a high degree of adaptability.
MIA WINTERS
AGE: 32
HEIGHT: 170cm
WEIGHT: 61kg
Ethan's wife. Having worked at a trading company and frequently going on business trips to foreign countries, her relationship with Ethan was starting to become strained because she was often away from home for long periods of time. Three years ago, soon after sending another e-mail to tell him her love from the ocean on a business trip, she was believed to have died as an LNG tanker she was aboard was destroyed, and the ship also hasn't been found yet. It's unclear why she was aboard this ship, which isn't meant for passengers.
JACK BAKER
AGE: 55
HEIGHT: 185~190cm
WEIGHT: 90kg
The owner of a vast farm in the swampland of Dulvey in southern Louisiana. He used to be a gentle patriarch who cared for his family, but he's now a domineering man who uses violence to control his wife and children. He's a large, formidable man who also served in the military and has a strength and toughness that belies his age, which he uses to capture and imprison those who wander onto his land. He seems to be looking for a new family candidate and has no mercy for those who defy him.
MARGUERITE BAKER
AGE: 53
HEIGHT: 168cm
WEIGHT: 70kg
Jack's wife. Conservative, chaste and submissive to her husband, yet positive, she's said to have been the ideal picture of a woman in a patriarchy. However after the family became isolated from the outside world, she turned into a volatile and hysterical person. She obeys Jack's orders absolutely and acts as a caretaker for the potential family members her husband captures, but she lashes out in anger and hatred at anyone who doesn't eat her home cooking.
LUCAS BAKER
AGE: 25
HEIGHT: 182cm
WEIGHT: 68kg
Eldest son of the Baker family. Even before his family cut off all contact with the world around them, he had a bad reputation as a delinquent son, always teasing and making fun of others. After his parents went insane, he became much more open-minded, revealing his evil nature and living openly in good spirits. He has been skilled at working with electronics since he was a boy, and now he's an insidious trap enthusiast who abuses his skills to set up blades and other explosive devices throughout the house.
DAVID ANDERSON
AGE: 31
HEIGHT: 175cm
WEIGHT: 60kg
A local sheriff's deputy. Though an often courageous person, he's still inexperienced in dealing with unexpected situations. Visiting the Baker's house looking for the missing Pete who went to cover it, he discovers an injured Ethan and tries to hear about the situation.
ALAN DRONEY
AGE: 53
HEIGHT: 180cm
WEIGHT: 80kg
A man who boarded the LNG tanker alongside Mia during the accident at sea three years ago. As her superior in her duties, they worked together in the work Mia described as "babysitting." It appears that aboard the ship, he was calling himself Mia's husband and they were pretending to be a family...

Creature
Molded (p.238)
A human that has been infected by the Idiomycete and transformed into a completely different entity. It loses its intelligence and attacks prey on instinct. It has unusually high vitality, but ceases function when the central nervous system in its head's destroyed.
Blade Molded (p.242)
A Molded with an enlarged right arm. The right arm's so sharp and hardened that it can be compared to a metal blade, capable of easily slicing through the body of prey.
Quick Molded (p.245)
A Molded variant with a slender body specialized for mobility. While crawling on all fours, it spooks prey with three-dimensional movements, attacking while closing distance in an instant.
Fat Molded (p.247)
An obese Molded with greatly increased vitality. The bodily fluids flowing through its body are highly acidic, and it not only vomits them from its mouth, but they also spew from its wounds when damaged.
Small Insect (p.250)
Insects that've mutated as a result of ingesting the Idiomycete. They nest in the old building and fly around the nests at normal times, but when they sense an intruder they attack in swarms and pierce it with their abdominal stingers.
Large Insect (p.252)
These cannibalistic insects grow to the size of an adult's palm and go about their activities separately from the swarms. They're usually docile but relentlessly pursue and attack prey once they spot it.
Spider (p.254)
A spider infected with the Idiomycete which has caused it to develop abnormal habits. Its appearance is similar to that of a giant spider, but it has fewer legs (six). They stick to doors and cupboards in groups and leap on anyone who approaches them.
Mia Winters (p.255)
Mia transformed by Eveline after she has taken over her mind. Since the control is imperfect, Eveline's will mixes with her own, causing confusion, and she attacks Ethan in an uncontrollable state.
Jack Baker (p.260)
Patriarch of the Baker family and Eveline's "father." His body has been further invaded by the Idiomycete and is virtually immortal, regenerating within a short time even after suffering fatal damage.
Marguerite Baker (p.262)
Jack Baker's wife. As a result of being infected with the Idiomycete, she has gained the ability to manipulate insects at will. Her personality's dark and hysterical and she slowly hunts down anyone who doesn't conform to Jack's will and turns them into insect food.
Mutated Marguerite (p.270)
Marguerite mutated in the process of regenerating wounds she received. Her flesh became spider-like and her arms have grown to twice their normal length. Behind the cover of her abdomen's a hidden organ that produces insects.
Mutated Jack (p.274)
Jack's regenerative ability has gone out of control and he can no longer retain his human form. His ugly, swollen body becomes increasingly Moldy and new faces form on his arms and torso.
Eveline (p.278)
Eveline administered with E-Necrotoxin and, while suffering, unleashing her power in a last ditch effort. Eveline has abandoned her human form to become an aggregate of the Idiomycete, attacking Ethan while revealing her own emotions.

THE MYSTERIOUS GIRL EVELINE'S IDENTITY (p.328)
THE STORY OF EVELINE'S BIRTH
"Control" is the concept of a new weapon proposed by an organization that conducts illegal bioweapons development. Insane research on a fungus-like substance (Idiomycete) that affects a target's brain, depriving them of their ego and manipulating them at will, eventually yielded forbidden fruit. Following repeated inhumane experiments, this weapon that can remould enemy forces as friendlies was born as an artificial life-form in the shape of a girl who could be unsuspectingly sent anywhere. E-Type Test Subject Codename E-001, she was given the name "Eveline."
THE TERROR OF THE MOLD THAT ERODES THOUGHT & REASON
Eveline's a rapid and inexhaustible generator of the Moldy substance and also an absolute ruler who integrates the entire fungal colony and issues commands. Those invaded by her Mold are hijacked through the cranial nerves and can't think of anything except Eveline's directions that benefit her. Robbed of all reason and morality, they're turned into violent puppet dolls who don't hesitate to perform cruel acts.
> Mia displays a strong resistance to mental control and begins rampaging in a demonic form when she can't withstand Eveline's orders.
EVELINE'S ABILITY TO CONTROL OTHERS & CARRIER SYMPTOMS
The Mold produced by Eveline can suddenly change shape at her volition, so she can even easily tear basic protective clothing and invade from the surface of the skin to inside the body in no time. However oral and mucosal infections are desirable for controlling the mind and the Baker family forced people they captured to ingest food, within which the Mold was propagated. This Idiomycete grows using body tissues as nutrients, eventually forming a Mold colony on the carrier's brainstem and inducing intense illusions and auditory hallucinations.
Early Infection
When the Mold replaces host cells, they exhibit a regenerative capacity that enables the spontaneous fusion of amputated limbs.
Mid-Infection
When Mold invasion reaches the brainstem, the carrier's cognition begins synchronizing with Eveline and they gradually lose their ego.
Final Stage of Infection
Substitution of somatic tissues with the Mold progresses, transforming into a figure deviating from a human. Dramatic enhancement of physical capabilities can be observed.
SENESCENCE DUE TO CELLULAR DETERIORATION
When Eveline, an artificial life-form created as a weapon, fails to receive regular doses of special drugs, it can cause serious abnormalities during cell division, probably due to the metabolic performance supporting her characteristic immortality. While natural organisms gradually lose the ability for cellular reproduction with age, she undergoes rapid aging and repeatedly deteriorates over several dozen times faster.
> She became old less than a year after the deterioration began.

INCIDENT PROGRESSION & OVERVIEW (p.329)
EVELINE'S REBELLION & ESCAPE
Aware of an approaching investigation team accompanied by the elite anti-bioterrorist Chris Redfield, the "organization", having raised Eveline in a European research facility, decided to relocate her to a base in Central America. They implemented a plan to board a private LNG tanker and appointed the organization's operatives Alan and Mia as her parents. However, Eveline was looking for an opportunity where she'd be overlooked and unleashed her capacity on board to kill Alan and the crew. The ship was wrecked out of control and drifted ashore on the southern coast of Louisiana, furthermore entering the swamp and vanishing completely.
> While Mia feels creeped out about Eveline, she remembers her loneliness.
CONTROLLING THE BAKER FAMILY & "FAMILY GATHERINGS"
Immediately after a storm over Dulvey, Jack Baker, who ran a farm in the area, discovered an LNG tanker that had drifted into the wetlands and sheltered the surviving Eveline and Mia. Shortly after contacting the county however, the Bakers were infected with Eveline's Mold and placed under her control. Since then the four Bakers have locked themselves up on a vast property and the surrounding residents believe they've disappeared.
Eveline commanded them to act as her "family." Then in order to increase their numbers she made Jack and the others abduct travelers and drifters who approached the Baker Estate, then implanted the Mold. However, all but the Baker family were immediately considered ineligible as family members and killed, then converted into Molded.
> Having escaped Eveline's mental control, even Zoe was afflicted with the Mold and unable to leave the estate.
> The Molded are named after the Mold.
THEN ETHAN GOES TO THE BAKER MANSION
Eveline truly wanted Mia, who'd been with her since the time the organization had her locked up, to be her "family." However her control over her was so defective that even after being imprisoned for three years, she didn't do as she expected. Then Eveline came up with an idea to lure her husband Ethan, whose existence Mia had let slip. She thought if she could place him in a new father role, Mia would cease resisting further and become her mother.
