Trevor's Notes (トレヴァーの手記) are unused in-game files from BIO HAZARD written from the perspective of the Spencer Mansion architect, George Trevor.
Scenario: Yasuyuki Saga
History
The notes were conceived as a series of letters chronicling the various stages of the game and were originally included as files in order to provide clues for players to get past some of the harder puzzles in the game, as well as to provide an explanation as to why the mansion was full of traps. Shinji Mikami decided to remove them from the game 1 month before release, as the game's story was split into two threads and he was not confident that they could write them suitably. Prior to their removal, they were found in the L Passage (next to Kenneth's body), room with a shotgun framed to the wall, attic, library and other locations based on a press sample CD. This showed George Trevor's own progression through the mansion while trying to escape. 1

After taking care of my work, I arrived at Lord Spencer's mansion this evening just after 6pm.
Lord Spencer and I celebrated our reunion.
The great dining room with its vaulted ceiling. And the many wonderful dishes laid out there.
The statue of a goddess was enviously peering down at us.
But I could not go drag her down there with us... I gave her a little something out of pity.
But still...
It was just the Lord and I, on such a large table.
The only sound was the ticking of the wall clock echoing quietly.
It was terribly lonely.
I learned from my wife's letter that my family, having come before me, have gone to visit a relative. I've tucked the letter in here.
There is nothing I can do. I have decided to stay here for a while to await my family's return.
The exquisite food, liquor and many works of art here will take the edge off my loneliness for a while.

In the midst of this vacation that was bound to be delightful, we've received some sad news. Aunt Emma has suddenly fallen ill.

But we shall return there in a matter of days.

He opened the doors himself and the rooms unfolded before me.
They were luxurious and truly elaborate.
As to be expected of one of the most prominent entrepreneurs in the country.
In one room, taxidermied beasts emit strange and mysterious lights from their eyes.
In another room, medieval knights are lined up in an orderly fashion under commanders who aren't in step with one another, as if they're guarding something...
"Isn't it magnificent?" The Lord spoke with a proud smile.
"In a few years' time, I will have another building built on these premises, a recreational facility for a company I will operate.
When that time comes, I intend to use this mansion as part of the recreation facility.
Eventually this mansion will be crowded not only with our employees, but also visitors domestic and foreign."
I imagined people relaxing in this mansion.
By wandering around the building, they would be just as awestruck by the mansion's splendor as I am.
I'm proud of myself for being capable of having even a small role in that.

With no other choice, I went to a room in the far right of the first floor and passed the time idly reading books.
There were mysterious things written about this mansion, but I couldn't quite make out what they meant.

As I was passing by Lord Spencer's study late at night, I heard several men talking.
The door was slightly ajar. I peeked in quietly and saw Lord Spencer and three men in white coats, whispering to each other.
I overheard phrases like,
"...large market... highly commidifiable...
in the basic research stage... still simple life after all... so...
will take many years..."
Out of curiosity I leaned in and pushed the door forward.
A small sound rang out. A man reacted to it and turned to me.
The man, a redhead, looked at me momentarily startled, but then quickly looked back as if nothing had happened.

I've lost my lighter! It was a birthday gift from my wife that I've always taken very good care of.
I've never lost it before...
I have a bad feeling...
I must've had it when I stopped for a smoke in the L-shaped corridor lined with glass cases.

I'll go there and look all over for it tomorrow.

There's a large room lined with portraits on the first floor.
As I was casually looking at the paintings there, the redhead man in a white coat approached me out of the blue.
Who could he be? There was a faint smell of disinfectant coming from this man...
"I have a question for you..."
The man asked me,
"Do you know anything about your family?"
"My family? Do you know something about them!?"
The man saw my expression and murmured emphatically.
"You don't know anything... Such a small child..."
I shook the man's body and loudly asked where my family was. But a moment later, I heard something like squirming behind me.
"Something's there..."
The redhead man mumbled, and no matter how much I asked, he never opened his mouth.

When I woke up this morning and went downstairs, I found servants meticulously scrubbing the floor. It was the only empty room in the mansion...
At first, I didn't question it. It wasn't until I passed this room and went to the next one...
It wasn't there. The hunting rifle on the wall was gone!
"What happened to the hunting rifle that was here?"
"Oh, that one. It was broken.
Like it was stepped on by an elephant. It's still in one piece, unlike the animal. I keep a spare."
Lord Spencer was nearby and casually answered my question.
I hurried back to the previous room.
There were some dark stains on the floor. And red hair.
I couldn't stop trembling...
Don't tell me he moved that thing...

I am trapped. It's already been three days.
The day I saw what happened in that empty room, I wanted to escape from this mansion.
I convinced myself that my family would be safe at Aunt's. I left the mansion, but it was too late.
As soon as I left the mansion, several men in white coats caught and badly beat me.
Then for a while, I was unconscious.
"Our apologies, but we must maintain confidentiality."
"That gentleman's ruthless, too. Trying to use this mansion's architect of all people... But it'll help us collect data for the future."
Confidential? That I designed this mansion?
The next thing I knew, I was lying in the basement.
It was a dimly lit room. My body was feeling strangely itchy. It felt like someone's hands were tickling me.
I sat up. Then something fell from my body like a trickle.
It was... moving!
Spiders! Countless spiders were scurrying on my body and all over the floor.
Spiders the size of the palm of my hand, in this cold room...
I leapt back. Involuntarily trampling a few spiders. The moment I did, countless spiders attacked me.
I ran to the door, but it was locked.
The spiders came crawling toward me.
I remembered the mechanism to the door and managed to get out.
I've been wandering this mansion's basement since then. There are many malformed insects and animals. But, with their movements slow and simple, I've been able to survive.

今日、スペンサー卿に館を案内してもらう。
彼の手によって開かれる扉、そして私の目の前に広がる数々の部屋。
それは豪華かつ実に趣向が凝らされていた。
さすがは国内でも有数の企業家だけのことはある。
ある部屋では剥製の獣達が、その瞳から怪しく、そして不思議な光を放ち、
またある部屋では中世の騎士達が、足並みのそろわない指揮官のもと、まるで何かを護るかのように整然と居並んでいる・・・。
「素晴しいだろう？」卿は得意そうに言葉を続けた。
「数年先に、私はこの敷地内にもう一つの建物、経営する会社の保養施設を建てる。
その時には、この館を保養施設の一部として使用するつもりだ。
やがてこの館はわが社の社員だけでなく、内外の客で賑やかになる事だろう」
私はこの館でくつろぐ人々の事を想像した。
彼らはこの館の中を歩き回り、私と同じようにこの館の華麗さに目を奪われるだろう。

そこにはこの館について何か謎めいたことが書かれてあったが、意味はよく解らない。

小さな音が鳴る。一人の男がそれに反応しこちらを向いた。
その男、赤毛の男は私を見、一瞬驚いたような表情をしたが、すぐに何事もなかったかのように、視線をもとに戻した。

一度もなくした事などないのに・・・。
いやな感じがする・・・。
あのガラスケースの並んだＬ字型の廊下で一服したときには確かにあったはずだ。
ライターの替えはあるにはあるが、あれは特に思い出深いものだ。
明日、あそこを隈なく探してみよう。

１９６７年１１月２０日
一階にある肖像画の並ぶ大きな部屋。
そこで何気なく絵を眺めていると、不意に白衣を着た赤毛の男が近づいてきた。
何だろう？この男からは消毒液の臭いが微かに漂っている・・・。
「君に聞きたいことがある・・・」
男は私に訊ねてきた。
「君の家族、あれは知っての上なのか？」
「家族？ 何か知っているのか？！」
男は私の表情を見、そして力なげにつぶやいた。
「君は何も知らないのか・・・。あんな小さな子供が・・・」
私は男の体を揺さぶり、家族の行方を大声で訊ねた。しかしその刹那、私の背後で、何かがうごめく音がした。
「何かがいる・・・」
赤毛の男はそうつぶやいた後、こちらがいくら訊ねても口を開かなくなってしまった。

１９６７年１１月２３日
朝起き一階へ行くと、使用人達が床を丹念に拭いていた。この館で唯一何も置いていない部屋を・・・。
最初は疑問に思わなかった。この部屋を通りすぎ、次の部屋に行くまでは・・・。
無い。壁に飾ってあった猟銃が無いのだ！
「ここにあった猟銃は？」
「ああ、あれか。あれは壊れてしまってね。
象に踏まれたようなもんさ。一応原型はとどめてはいるがね、生き物とは違って。
なに、また替えをおいておくさ」
近くにいたスペンサー卿が私の問いにさり気なく答えた。
急いで先の部屋に戻る。
床には何か黒いシミ。そして赤い髪の毛。
震えが止まらなかった・・・。
まさかあれを動か・・・。

１９６７年１１月２６日
私は閉じ込められた。既に三日、経とうとしている。
あの何も無い部屋での出来事を見た日、私はこの館から逃げ出そうとした。
家族は叔母のところにきっと無事でいる、私はそう自分を信じこませ館をあとにした。
しかし遅かった。
館を出てすぐ、数人の白衣を着た男に取り押さえられ、ひどく殴られた。
そしてしばらくの間、意識を失っていた。
「気の毒だが、機密保持の為だ」
「あの方も人が悪い。よりによって、この館の設計者を使って試すとは・・・。
だが将来へのデータ収集には役に立つ」
機密保持？私がこの館を設計した事か？
気がつくと私は地下室に横たわっていた。
薄暗い部屋。体が妙に痒い。何人かの人の手でくすぐられている、そんな感じだ。
上半身を起こす。すると私の体から何かがポタポタと落ちた。
それは・・・動いている！
クモだ！無数のクモが私の体を、そして床中をうごめいているのだ。
この寒い部屋の中を、手のひら程の大きさのクモが・・・。
私は飛び退いた。思わず数匹のクモを踏み潰す。その途端、無数のクモが私に襲いかかって来た。
ドアへ駆け寄るが鍵が掛かっている。
クモはわらわらと私の方へと寄ってくる。
私はドアの構造を思いだし何とか外に出た。
それから今日まで私はこの館の地下を歩き回っている。そこには異常な形をした昆虫、動物が多数いた。しかしその動きは緩慢かつ単純で私は何とか生き延びる事が出来た。

ジェシカ、リサ・・・。
こんな、暗い惨めなところで・・・。
何故、何故だ！こんな死に方・・・。
奴の特殊な注文に応じ、この館を創り出した私が悪いのか。
それとも彼女達が残っているかもしれぬのにこの館から逃げ出そうとした天罰なのか。
いや違う。
ここは普通ではない。
地下に充満する消毒液の臭い、そして搬入されたばかりと思われる新しい機械・・・。
機密とはいったいなんなのか？
これは本当に、保養施設として使われるのか？！

１９６７年１２月５日
・・・そして私は思いがけず狭く暗い部屋へ降り立った。
足元が危うい。ゆっくり、そして慎重に歩き回る。すると部屋の中央辺りで、なにか固いものにぶつかる。なんだろう？
ライターで明かりを灯し、掲げるとそこにうっすらと文字が浮かび上がった。
それは・・・。
なんという事だ！ 畜生！ すべては奴の思い通りなのか！
しかし皮肉だ。私はまだ生きている。もし今日何も起きなければ。
だが同じ事だ。もう上へ登り陽を見る事は出来ない。
文字通り、ここが私の死場所となるのだ。
・・・いや、違う。私は必ず生きる。今ま
でだってうまく切り抜けてきた。
そう、生きる・・・わたしは生き残る。

私はしくじった。なぜ奴は、スペンサーは知っていたのか？
迫り来る巨大なもの・・・。
私だけが知る秘密の仕掛けのはずだったのに・・・。

忘れていた。あれは一つでは無いこと・・・。
もう一つのよく似た道具が必要だという事。
ああ、もう少し、もう少しで二つの名を持つ噴水に行けたのに・・・。

君が丹精を込めて作り上げた美しい館。この館に移り、既に三ヶ月が過ぎようとしている。
ここは素晴しい場所だ。狩人達の喧騒と共に朝を迎え、狼の咆哮と共に夜を迎える。
・・・だがここにはまだ足りぬものがある。
そこで君にお願いしたい。一度、館を訪ねてはくれないだろうか？
もちろん君の家族も一緒にだ。

あの豊かな水溢れる、美しい庭園。そして二つの名を持つ美しい噴水。
この噴水へ行く為に、君が絶対忘れるなと念をおしていた、あの『赤い本』と『青い本』を持参しよう。
ただ、私にはまだやり残した仕事が幾らかあるので、
家族を先にそちらへやりたいと考えている。

仕事を片付け、本日夕方６時過ぎ、スペンサー卿の館に到着。
スペンサー卿と再会の祝杯をあげる。
吹き抜けのある大食堂。そしてそこに並べられた素晴しい料理の数々。
女神像が羨ましげに我々を見下ろす。
しかし彼女をここへ引きずり降ろす訳にもいくまい・・・。そんな不憫な彼女に、私はちょっとしたものを贈った。
それにしても・・・。
これだけ大きなテーブルには卿と私だけしかいないのだ。
柱時計の音だけが静かに鳴り響く。
いかにも寂しい。
先に来ていた家族は親戚の見舞いに行っていると妻の手紙で知った。手紙はここに挟んでおく。
しかたがない。ここでしばらく家族の帰りを待つことにしよう。
なに、ここのすばらしい料理と酒、そして数々の芸術品が、しばらくは私のさびしさをまぎらわしてくれるだろう。

この楽しいはずの休暇中、悲しい知らせが入りました。エマ叔母さんが急に倒れてしまわれたのです。
叔母さんはここからそう遠くない所に住んでいらっしゃるので、リサと一緒に少し様子を見てきます。
ひさしぶりに皆で一緒に過ごせると思ったのに本当に残念。
でも２、３日したら、そちらに戻ります。

今日、スペンサー卿に館を案内してもらう。
彼の手によって開かれる扉、そして私の目の前に広がる数々の部屋。
それは豪華かつ実に趣向が凝らされていた。
さすがは国内でも有数の企業家だけのことはある。
ある部屋では剥製の獣達が、その瞳から怪しく、そして不思議な光を放ち、
またある部屋では中世の騎士達が、足並みのそろわない指揮官のもと、まるで何かを護るかのように整然と居並んでいる・・・。
「素晴しいだろう？」卿は得意そうに言葉を続けた。
「数年先に、私はこの敷地内にもう一つの建物、経営する会社の保養施設を建てる。
その時には、この館を保養施設の一部として使用するつもりだ。
やがてこの館はわが社の社員だけでなく、内外の客で賑やかになる事だろう」
私はこの館でくつろぐ人々の事を想像した。
彼らはこの館の中を歩き回り、私と同じようにこの館の華麗さに目を奪われるだろう。
それに少しでもかかわる事が出来た自分を私は誇らしく思う。

家族が戻らない。
そろそろ戻ってきてもよさそうなものだが。
叔母の容態がよほど悪いのか？
しかたがないので、一階入って右奥の部屋でぼんやりと本を読み時間を潰していた。
そこにはこの館について何か謎めいたことが書かれてあったが、意味はよく解らない。

深夜、スペンサー卿の書斎の前を通った時に数人の男の話し声が聞こえた。

基礎研究段階・・やはり単純な生・から
・長い年月が必・・・」
