CHRONICLES TO UMBRELLA'S DEMISE (p.001)
This story's an epic review of the entire saga of the multinational corporation Umbrella from the point of view of former Umbrella researcher Albert Wesker.
Umbrella was a pharmaceutical company with an umbrella as its symbol of "protecting the health of the people." Centered in its European headquarters, it was an internationally renowned company with branches and laboratories the world over. But in truth it was a merchant of death advancing the development of Bio Organic Weapons, commonly known as B.O.W.'s, using the "t-Virus" which alters the genes of living organisms. Development proceeded smoothly and many B.O.W.'s were created. Starting from the virus outbreak accident (biohazard) that occurred at the laboratory in Raccoon City, the situation led toward a destructive path.

CREATURES (p.014-020)
The player's confronted by deformed creatures and living weapons, commonly known as B.O.W. Some are small insects, others are agile animals, and still others are powerful humans. Attacking them blindly will have little effect, so learn how to deal with them according to their characteristics.
Zombie
A human whose genetic structure has been altered as a result of infection with the t-Virus. They come at you in packs and slowly attack. If you see a Zombie spitting acid from a distance, take it down right away.
Crimson Head
A mutant Zombie that has become even more violent. Far more agile than normal Zombies, they attack with sharp claws. They're dangerous if allowed to approach, so try to defeat them while they're still within range.
Cerberus
A bioweapon created by administering the t-Virus to a Doberman. With its superior mobility, it appears from blind spots and jumps on its prey. It's best to wait and intercept them as they rush by.
Crow
A wild crow infected with the t-Virus. They appear in the dark and fly fast, making them susceptible to approach. They have low stamina however, so use your knife to fight them when they approach.
Bat
A bat secondarily infected by the t-Virus, becoming larger and more ferocious. It has a habit of rushing at moving people. It doesn't fly as fast as the Crow, so aim for it and shoot it down before it gets too close.
Adder
A wild venomous snake that has become more aggressive due to secondary infection with the t-Virus. It slithers around on the ground and suddenly leaps at you even from a small distance. It isn't very strong and can be killed with a handgun.
Wasp
The Wasp has grown to a huge size due to the influence of the t-Virus. They're vulnerable on their own but attack in swarms, so you can't be too careful. They fly fast but come at you in a straight line, so you don't need to be afraid as long as you stay calm and keep your eyes on them.
Large Roach
Cockroaches living in the sewage system grew to a huge size under the influence of the t-Virus. It targets a person's carotid artery and stalks them in swarms. Their strength's low so they can be easily defeated by calmly wielding a knife.
Web Spinner
An experimentally created B.O.W. based on a spider. In addition to pouncing on you, it spits a highly acidic venomous substance. Instead of waiting to intercept them, attack them first when they're at a stop.
Black Tiger
A discarded Web Spinner with a giant mutated body. It doesn't jump at you much but attacks from a distance, spitting out a highly acidic venomous substance. It's possible to counteract the venomous liquid by shooting it.
Baby Spider
The children of the Black Tiger appear in groups. They'll leap one after another and stick to you, but won't cause harm immediately upon contact. Try to cut them off with the knife.
Neptune
A B.O.W. based on a Great White Shark. Normally moves underwater, but when it finds its prey, it surfaces and rushes forward. Attack with blasts when it's underwater then shoot it when it jumps up.
Leech
A 20cm-long blood-sucking leech created by Dr. Marcus of the Umbrella Corporation. They feed systematically in groups and attach themselves to the human body. If they stick to you, cut them off with a knife to defeat them.
Mimicry Marcus
A creature composed of countless Leeches that mimic the appearance of Dr. Marcus before he died. Not agile but tough and will close in on you if you let up on your attacks. Rapid-fire attacks are key.
Eliminator
A B.O.W. developed based on a large simian. It moves with agility and leaps on its prey at high speed. If it backs away a little, that's a signal it'll pounce, so time your attacks accordingly.
Hunter
A B.O.W. created as a human-reptile hybrid. It uses its agility and leaping ability to cut off the heads of prey. It's a threat if not defeated quickly with a powerful weapon, as it can close a gap instantly.
Licker
The body of a Zombie after being further invaded by the t-Virus and mutating. It attacks with its long tongue outstretched like a spear, so the best time to attack is during the initial movement of its tongue before it strikes.
Chimera
This insane B.O.W. has fly genes embedded within its human genome. It moves in close at breakneck speed and attacks with sharp pincers. It often moves along ceilings and walls, its behavior strong with fly characteristics. It'll attack after landing on the ground, so shoot it while it's still on the ground.
Ivy
Created based on data from Plant 42 that was accidentally generated in the mansion. It manipulates two long reaching vines to strike its prey and also shoots digestive enzymes from its head. It attacks in rapid succession but its slow movement makes it easy to target and strike first.
Proto Tyrant
A near-completed prototype of the Tyrant, the pinnacle of B.O.W.'s emphasizing combat capabilities. It lacks the intelligence necessary to carry out commands and its skin's also rotting. Its right hand's equipped with a long, protruding claw it uses to attack by swinging as if to strike. It isn't good at moving left or right, so aim for its vital point heart and shoot it from the front to block its attacks.
Nemesis
A B.O.W. created by implanting the parasitic organism "Nemesis" into the Tyrant. It's notable for its astonishing regeneration ability, and even after it's defeated, it'll continue to pursue you to the next area. It's intimidating but basically just comes at you slowly swinging its arms around, so you can defeat it without it getting too close if you concentrate on its vital points from a distance.
Umbrella Column
[Concerning Tyrant Variations]
The giant creature Tyrant, named Tyrant as the perfected version of a B.O.W., made a shocking appearance as a boss in the "BIOHAZARD" series. As the series progressed, the variations increased. In "2", there's a Super Tyrant that overcomes death with a strengthened body. In "3", the above-mentioned Nemesis with advanced intelligence appears. In addition, a Tyrant whose entire body's skin evolves like a rock appears in the gaiden "Outbreak" series which depicts citizens escaping from Raccoon City.
The Tyrant in the Ecliptic Express Incident is still an unfinished prototype.
The completed Tyrant appears as a boss in the Mansion Incident. A monster with power and speed.

SCENARIO 1 - ECLIPTIC EXPRESS INCIDENT (p.024-051)
In July 1998, Bravo Team of S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics and Rescue Service) is dispatched to investigate a spate of murders in the forest on the outskirts of Raccoon City. Its newest member, Rebecca Chambers, discovers a mysterious train at a standstill. She boards to investigate but is attacked by a swarm of Zombies, the living dead. She's saved from her predicament by Billy Coen, an ex-Marine second lieutenant who was being transported as a prisoner. Rebecca and Billy explore inside the cars, but the train suddenly goes out of control. The two end up at the Umbrella Corporation's executive training school. Then in the basement of the chapel adjacent to the facility, they discover an eerie research facility.
Billy Coen
An ex-Marine lieutenant who was sentenced to death for killing 23 people. He was being escorted to his grave for execution, but someone attacked him along the way and he escaped in the nick of time. The truth as to why he committed mass murder is a mystery...
Rebecca Chambers
Graduated college at the age of 18. She has outstanding knowledge in chemistry and was selected by S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team as a medic due to these talents.
ECLIPTIC EXPRESS INCIDENT OTHER FACTORS
DR. MARCUS' BELOVED RESEARCH
Alongside Spencer and others, Marcus discovered the "Progenitor Virus", the origin of the t-Virus. As a result of experiments, he confirmed a reaction when combining it with leeches. Marcus was obsessed with breeding these first mutant leeches. The leeches eventually evolved as a collective to mimic Marcus's appearance.
S.T.A.R.S. BRAVO TEAM THAT REBECCA BELONGS TO
S.T.A.R.S. is a special forces unit under the jurisdiction of the Raccoon Police Department (R.P.D.), funded mainly by Umbrella Corp. and other private companies. Bravo Team consists of six members with the Captain, Enrico, at the center. Many of the members are skilled in communications technology, investigation and rescue.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CREATURES IN "BIOHAZARD 0"
As experiments, Marcus administered "Progenitor" to mammals and insects. The resulting creatures and B.O.W.'s lurk around the premises. In addition, as a result of a biohazard (a biological disaster), Zombies appear alongside mutant bats that've secondarily ingested the virus.
Stinger (p.033)
A scorpion that has grown to a huge size after being administered the t-Virus. The virus has strengthened its outer shell and its scissors are powerful enough to pierce the train's steel plating.
Infected Bat (p.041)
A special mutant bat produced in the aftermath of a biohazard, having evolved further. It's unusually massive compared to normal bats and its muscles have developed.
Queen Leech Second Form (p.049)
A more evolved form of the Queen Leech. Its shape no longer retains its original form, and it's neither a person nor a leech. Its main attack is to spit out acid and by rushing with its huge body.

SCENARIO 2 - MANSION INCIDENT (p.050-073)
In July 1998, the Alpha Team is dispatched to rescue the missing S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team. While Chris and his team are exploring the forest, they're suddenly attacked by a pack of rabid dogs. They're chased into a creepy mansion. Chris and his teammates parted ways with their Captain, Wesker, and began investigating the mansion. What they encountered was a horde of Zombies wandering around in search of the living, as well as bizarrely shaped monsters. Eventually they discover a bioweapons experiment facility and an accident (biohazard). When they connect the murders that occurred in the suburbs of Raccoon City to the reason for the mansion's existence, Chris and his colleagues learn who they should really be fighting.
Jill Valentine
Among the team, she's a specialist in lock-picking and explosive ordnance disposal. She has training experience in Delta Force and is a crack shot. She has a serious and determined personality but sometimes displays a feminine delicacy.
Chris Redfield
A tough guy with a strong mind and brawny body. He's skilled with all kinds of heavy weapons and is the team's No.1 marksman. He also possesses excellent insight and observation skills, having successfully completed any mission.
MANSION INCIDENT OTHER FACTORS
WHAT'S THE REASON BEHIND THE MANSION FULL OF HORROR?
The stage, the Arklay Laboratory, consists of a dormitory, laboratory, courtyard and a mansion. The mansion's constructed at the facility's entrance and serves as a facade in terms of appearance. The mansion's also equipped with mechanisms and traps that also function to keep out intruders.
S.T.A.R.S. ALPHA TEAM THAT CHRIS & JILL BELONG TO
S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team consists of six combat skilled members led by their Captain, Wesker. In reality, Wesker had a secret role as an Umbrella researcher and was luring Alpha Team to the mansion in order to measure the combat proficiency of the B.O.W.'s born in the laboratory.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CREATURES IN "BIOHAZARD"
Dr. Marcus was originally the one studying the t-Virus. However, Spencer secretly constructed the Arklay Laboratory. He killed Marcus and transferred the data. In turn, the Hunter and Chimera which could be called successful examples appear, and there are no experimental Eliminators.
Yawn (p.057)
This creature's a venomous snake that escaped the facility and was secondarily infected by the t-Virus, growing gigantic. Its combat capabilities are unknown but it retains the viciousness and speed of a snake.
Plant 42 (p.065)
A flesh-eating plant accidentally created through a biohazard. Its tentacle-like tendrils spit out acid and ensnare prey, and its petals spew out large amounts of pollen.
Super Tyrant (p.069)
The perfect form of a B.O.W. As the name "Tyrant" implies, it has a powerful body and killing ability, and will do everything in its power to destroy according to the its commander's orders.
Umbrella Column
[Vanishing S.T.A.R.S. Personnel]
There are twelve S.T.A.R.S. members in total. Among them, four members of Alpha Team appear in this game: Wesker, the Captain of S.T.A.R.S., main characters Chris and Jill, and Brad, who's in charge of helicopter operation and communications. From the Bravo Team, there's Kenneth who's in charge of chemical weapons countermeasures, Forest who's in charge of electronic crimes and an excellent marksman, Richard who's in charge of communications and assisting Rebecca, and main character Rebecca. The other members of the team also acted independently in the Umbrella training school and the mansion, meeting different ends. You can learn more about their fates by playing the GameCube versions of "biohazard" and "biohazard 0", listed on the right.
BRAVO TEAM
Enrico Marini: S.T.A.R.S. second-in-command and Captain of the Bravo Team. After the heli crash, he heads to Umbrella's executive training school and often supports Rebecca. However, he has some other objective, and leaves Rebecca to go to the mansion. He's then murdered by someone other than the creatures.
Edward Dewey: In charge of piloting the helicopter and a proficient rifle marksman. He's unable to reach the mansion or the Umbrella executive training school, and becomes a Zombie.
ALPHA TEAM
Barry Burton: A firearms expert. He arrives at the mansion and supports Jill, but unfortunately doesn't appear in this game. He has two daughters, Moira and Polly, and dotes on his family, but he decides to join the fight against Umbrella after surviving the mansion.
Joseph Frost: In charge of weapons maintenance. He was attacked and killed by Cerberus in the forest. Based on the fact he was disoriented over the attack, he appears to have been inexperienced in combat.

SCENARIO 3 - RACCOON CITY DESTRUCTION INCIDENT (p.074-101)
In September of 1998, Raccoon City was transformed into a city of the dead teeming with Zombies due to an outbreak of the t-Virus. Jill, a former S.T.A.R.S. officer, is left alone in the city, acting separately from her comrades in order to investigate a laboratory. While trying to escape the city she meets Carlos, a member of the U.B.C.S., an anti-biohazard unit sent by Umbrella to help contain the situation and rescue survivors. To Umbrella however, the U.B.C.S. is only a superficial fix, and behind-the-scenes, the U.S. Government plans to destroy the city via a missile strike. In addition, Umbrella sends in a terrifying assassin to eliminate Jill. The inescapable shadow of death looms just around the corner...
Carlos Oliveira
A member of Umbrella's biohazard countermeasure service (U.B.C.S.). Raised in the midst of war since childhood, he's highly skilled in combat. He often speaks flippantly, but when the time comes, he's brave enough to personally dive into danger.
Jill Valentine
One member of the S.T.A.R.S. unit. Determined to face Umbrella, she remained behind in Raccoon City alone to investigate the city's laboratory while her comrades left for Europe.
RACCOON CITY DESTRUCTION INCIDENT OTHER FACTORS
WHAT IS THE SETTING, RACCOON CITY?
Raccoon City was a rural town in the midwestern United States, but it was transformed after attracting an Umbrella factory. The money from the company reached many areas and the town rapidly developed. On the other hand, however, collusion grew between the company and the city's authorities and many social problems erupted, such as the cover-up of cases and restricted investigations.
CARLOS BELONGS TO THE U.B.C.S.
A biohazard countermeasure unit organized by Umbrella. Mainly comprised of war criminals and exiled military personnel. The unit's purpose is to contain situations caused by B.O.W.'s, the company's secret products, but there are also soldiers in the unit who report directly to the top brass, called Supervisors, who're tasked with reporting the results of operations.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CREATURES IN "BIOHAZARD 3"
Due to the effects of the t-Virus, the city's filled with Zombies, the largest number in the series. But what's most unique is the presence of the Pursuer/Nemesis, a monster sent by Umbrella to eradicate S.T.A.R.S. that shows up all over and hunts Jill down.
Grave Digger (p.085)
A giant arthropod born as a result of t-Virus contamination. It was accidentally created as a result of Umbrella repeating experiments underneath Raccoon City, and its combat abilities are unknown.
Nemesis Second Form (p.101)
A new B.O.W. based on the Tyrant which uses the parasitic organism Nemesis to prevent intelligence from degenerating. Its body has been strengthened and it can heal itself from damage.

SCENARIO 4 - UMBRELLA'S END (p.102-125)
The Umbrella Corporation's stock suddenly crashed in response to Raccoon City's collapse. But they were left with one last trump card.
In February 2003, a new B.O.W. was secretly developed based on previous data at the Umbrella Russia Branch research facility. The Russian government detected this situation, organized an assault unit and conducted an operation to raid the facility. Among them were Chris and Jill, who continued their fight against Umbrella there. When the strike unit arrived, the facility was already under virus contamination and had become a B.O.W. nest. And the latest B.O.W. Talos slumbered quietly in the depths of the facility. As the moment of its activation approaches, the final battle commences.
Jill Valentine
A former member of S.T.A.R.S. After the Mansion Incident and Raccoon City Destruction Incident, she pursued Umbrella's conspiracy. She joins the anti-biohazard unit with Chris, and challenges Umbrella to a final battle.
Chris Redfield
A former member of S.T.A.R.S. After the Mansion Incident, he flew to Europe to investigate Umbrella on his own. His high level of combat capabilities are beyond the realm of ordinary people, and Wesker, who works behind the scenes of the incidents, has his eye on him.
UMBRELLA'S END OTHER FACTORS
LAST BET ON UMBRELLA'S REVIVAL
Responsible for destroying Raccoon City, global criticism zeroed in on Umbrella and their stock prices suddenly plummeted. Therefore the last resort they entrusted with the hope of a revival was to intervene in conflict regions around the world using the most powerful B.O.W.
WHO IS SERGEI VLADIMIR WHO CONTROLS THE RUSSIAN BRANCH?
Originally a Soviet soldier, he joined Umbrella after his homeland collapsed. He became an executive and was involved in Tyrant development. He was also involved in the formation of the U.B.C.S., taking advantage of his military experience. Couldn't there be Russians among the Supervisors due to his strong influence?
THE END OF UMBRELLA, THEN THE WORLD...
The story continues even after Umbrella's collapse. Wesker plans to revive Umbrella as a symbol of power. He later discovered potential in a parasitic organism called the "Plaga", which differs from the Progenitor Virus, and initiated a mission to seize a sample. This story's told in "biohazard 4."
Umbrella Column
[Where's That Person Now?]
There are many characters who've played important roles but are yet to be seen again. Billy, a main character in the Ecliptic Express Incident, is missing. Rebecca's doings after the Mansion Incident are unknown. Where has Carlos gone now after escaping Raccoon City? However, the biggest mystery is Barry, who survived the first "biohazard." Will their whereabouts be revealed in subsequent works...?

[Paths After The Mansion Incident ~Part One~]
Let's take a look back at the episode of "BIOHAZARD CODE:Veronica" that isn't included in the archive files. After the Mansion Incident, Chris went to Europe to investigate Umbrella Headquarters. After that, his sister Claire also went to Europe looking for her brother. While infiltrating the Umbrella Laboratory in Paris, someone captured and imprisoned her on the isolated Rockfort Island. On the island, the Ashford family, close allies of Umbrella founder Spencer, were researching their own virus, but suddenly a biohazard occurred. The island was in chaos. Claire and Steve, a young boy who was also imprisoned, attempted to escape the island.

[Paths After The Mansion Incident ~Part Two~]
When Chris learns his sister Claire has been abducted to Rockfort Island, he heads to the island to rescue her. However, Claire had already escaped and was on her way to Antarctica. Chris took the Harrier stored in the base and hurried to the Antarctic. Chris reunited with Wesker, the leader of a mysterious raiding party. Why was a supposedly dead man here? Chris left Antarctica with Claire, who he reunited with after defeating the queen, Alexia, the source of all the problems, while leaving questions unanswered, and the situation began to move at an accelerated pace in preparation for the decisive battle with Umbrella.
Talos (p.124)
Umbrella's ultimate weapon, created based on a vast amount of live combat data. Boasting terrifying destructive and defensive power, it faithfully executes orders under the control of the command module "RED QUEEN."
Talos Second Form (p.125)
Freed from control, Talos has evolved in an unpredictable manner. Its imposing figure, with its pillar-like spinal cord piercing the ceiling, is like a living fortress.
