PROLOGUE (p.007)
1998... Biohazards occurred one after another, caused by the t-Virus developed by the international corporation "Umbrella."
An American midwestern town, Raccoon City.
A large number of its citizens were wiped out due to an outbreak of the t-Virus. An isolated island in Europe far out in the sea, "Sheena Island", became the second Raccoon City, and more incidents caused by the virus occur frequently, even on "Rockfort Island" which was home to one of Umbrella's bases.
Many of the facts are still concealed in these incidents with such tragic victims.
How was Umbrella established?
Who founded it...?
And the t-Virus... who created it?
In order to solve all these mysteries, we must go back to where it all began, before the Mansion Incident...
July 1998...
The Arklay Mountains outside Raccoon City.
Recently there have been cases of bizarre murders where someone has "eaten" the victims.
The Raccoon City Police were investigating the situation and decided to dispatch the S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team.
Bravo Team ventured into the mountains to begin their search.
However, the helicopter carrying them suffered mysterious engine troubles then crashed into the nearby forest...
Bravo Team lost all their equipment.
What they found was a wrecked military police convoy, along with slaughtered Marines.
A former Marine officer being transported appeared to have escaped from the convoy, and Bravo Team Captain Enrico Marini ordered the team to locate Billy Coen's whereabouts and set out to resolve the situation.
...At this moment, the incident began.
No one expected it to develop into such a living nightmare which would eventually reach the whole of Raccoon City...

CREATURES
B.O.W.'s are manufactured by injecting the t-Virus created by Umbrella. There are various types of infected such as non-B.O.W.'s considered to be infected with the virus via secondary infection. However, even if there's a difference in the process, there's no difference in their quest for living flesh and constant urge to attack the living.
LEECH (p.097)
A huge leech created during Marcus' research as a result of repeating various experiments. The creatures grow roughly to a size of about 20cm in length and they combine into large groups with ease and very little noise.
ZOMBIE (p.099)
Humans whose genetic structure has been altered due to t-Virus infection, turning them into monsters. Humans start attacking other humans, then the attacked victims also turn into Zombies. With Zombies appearing in various clothes, a virus outbreak doesn't seem to target specific people.
CROW (p.101)
Crows indirectly infected with the t-Virus by consuming the flesh of something infected by the virus. They often stand still in the dark waiting for prey then use their sharp talons and beaks to attack mercilessly.
CERBERUS (p.103)
A B.O.W. created for combat produced during a t-Virus administration experiment, based upon a military dog. It's a very ferocious animal nicknamed the "Watchdog of Hell." When attacking enemies, they leap with a single pounce then attack the throat with their sharp canine teeth.
HUNTER (p.105)
A B.O.W. produced by adding other genetic data to a human whose genetic structure's altered during t-Virus administration. It has the intelligence to understand and execute simple commands and belongs to the successful category of B.O.W. experiments.
GIANT SPIDER (p.107)
A spider that achieved tremendous growth due to t-Virus infection, attacking any person who gets close to it with its poisonous venom. As they're also capable of moving on unusual paths such as walls and ceilings, it could be said their major feature's their wide range of attacks.
PLAGUE CRAWLER (p.109)
A B.O.W. created through repeated genetic manipulation based on "insects" using the t-Virus. Although it was initially developed as a B.O.W., its research was discontinued due to lacking sufficient intelligence to execute commands.
STINGER (p.111)
A scorpion that mutated due to t-Virus infection with a length that's actually over 3m. It's characterized by a shell that extremely hardened under the virus' influence, as well as developing large and sharp pincers that allow it to drill holes in the train's roof.
CENTURION (p.113)
A centipede enlarged due to secondary t-Virus infection. It has been greatly affected by the t-Virus outbreak, probably because it was also prey for rodents and spiders that were secondarily infected. At present, one survivor has been confirmed, with a body length over 10m.
PROTO TYRANT (p.115)
The prototype of the "Tyrant." Under the influence of the t-Virus, entire body tissues have been destroyed. It was an unfinished version as its control was unstable so it became too violent. It should've been disposed of...
