biohazard 0
A REVIVAL DRAMA THAT SPREAD BEHIND THE BIZARRE CASES
A game depicting the hidden circumstances of Bravo Team's disappearance along with the beginning of the first game in the series, "BIO1." It turns out the biohazard in the "Mansion Incident" that occurred in BIO1 was triggered artificially by way of revenge on Umbrella.
Although the first event in the series is the subject matter, the software was released after "CODE:Veronica" and there was an internal conflict between the Umbrella founders involved in the discovery & development of the "Progenitor Virus" mentioned in the same game. Speaking of the Umbrella founders, the name of the talented Oswell E. Spencer was from the days of BIO1, but the presence of his friend who worked on t-Virus development, James Marcus, is revealed in "BIO0", and all these highlighted origins lead into the latest game "BIO5."
▲ Marcus was murdered in conflict with Spencer. His revenge against Umbrella triggers its collapse.

ECLIPTIC EXPRESS INCIDENT
Refers to the bioterror incident that struck an Umbrella train, the Ecliptic Express, and the Umbrella Executive Training School, a series of events leading to Rebecca's involvement prior to infiltrating the mansion. Alpha Team and it could be called a taste of the skirmish in BIO1.
biohazard
S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team were dispatched to solve the series of bizarre murders and disappeared in the Arklay Mountains. Alpha Team heads out in search of them but are attacked by monster dogs and evacuate to a nearby mansion. However, that building was the cause of the recent bizarre murder cases and was a place filled with monsters. One after another, the life-threatening monsters killed off the S.T.A.R.S. teams, those responsible for the mansion are the company Umbrella, the true employers of Captain Wesker.
THE WHOLE ORIGIN TO THE SERIES
The memorable first work in the "BIO" series. There are two scenarios, Chris and Jill, and the game develops to the final escape of the team members, changing depending on the way it's played, but subsequent series works make it "Chris, Jill, Rebecca and Barry escape from the mansion" according to the best endings. In 2002, a remake version was released for the GameCube. In addition to dramatic visual evolution, elements like the powerful enemy Lisa Trevor are added.
Behind-the-scenes of the case was S.T.A.R.S.'s Captain Wesker, who was actually Umbrella's minion, and at the final stage he decided to confront them, revealing he'd used the members as experiment expendables. At this time, Wesker appears to be killed by the B.O.W. Tyrant he was involved in developing, but he's actually alive and stands in Chris' way for both CODE:Veronica and BIO5.
▲ Wesker attempts to steal B.O.W. data. His scheme's revealed in BIO5.

A military virus, the "t-Virus", was being researched and developed at the same site and leaked, causing mutations in the researchers within the facility which adversely affected the surrounding biological environment, with the officers being guided to the same location and used to collect combat data. After this incident, Chris who'd escaped from the mansion will continue to labor to expose their evil deeds to the public.
BIOHAZARD 2
Two months after the Mansion Incident... Prosecution by Chris and other survivors was futile and the mastermind, the Umbrella Corporation, continued to reign as a giant company. Meanwhile, a virus leaked from an Umbrella laboratory beneath Raccoon City, spreading biological contamination throughout the city. Rookie cop Leon of the Raccoon Police and Claire, a female college student who came looking for her brother Chris, happen to meet in the shadows and their escape from the city unfolds as they become entangled with ulterior motives surrounding a new virus strain, the "G-Virus."
CONFLICT OVER THE G-VIRUS
The terror of the t-Virus depicted in the previous game BIO1 has grown to a large scale, engulfing an entire city. While all the citizens have turned into Zombies, the ultimate goal of the dual protagonists Leon and Claire is to escape from the city while helping a little girl, Sherry.
This incident started with Umbrella's internal conflict over the G-Virus developed by William Birkin. In an attempt to seize the G-Virus, the Umbrella top brass sent a special forces unit to Birkin, which leaked the virus into the town. The mysterious woman Ada who joins Leon in the struggle is another who seeks the G-Virus. She appeared to lose her life in the game, but in truth she was saved by a member of the same organization, Wesker, and continued operating covertly. This fact's in "BIO4" and the organization's name is revealed in BIO5.
▲ Wesker's contemporary William injected himself with the G-Virus and became the bizarre creature "G."

Eventually, Raccoon City would be erased from the earth by the American military's Sterilization Strategy and Umbrella would be held accountable, walking a path to ruin.
BIOHAZARD 3 LAST ESCAPE
September 1998. Before Leon and Claire's escape from the virus-contaminated Raccoon City, Jill, a survivor of the Mansion Incident, was also fighting for her life. While investigating anti-Umbrella activities with Chris, she was involved in this unprecedented incident while she remained alone in the city for her investigation. Jill works alongside Carlos, a member of the U.B.C.S. Hunting them is Umbrella's most powerful assassin—the “Pursuer”, the Nemesis-T Type's footsteps approach.
AN ESCAPE TALE THAT DOUBLES WITH "BIO2"
A game that follows the destruction of Raccoon City from the perspective of Jill, who played a leading role in BIO1. The subject's the same as that of BIO2, but the game takes place one day before and one after from September 28th to October 1st 1998, beginning during an attack on police by a Zombie horde. It's the installment that complements the ending and destruction of Raccoon City.
The outline of the story is to escape the Pursuer and from the city. In addition the U.B.C.S. is introduced, moving in to extinguish the mess Umbrella had made while aiming to save lives, this is entwined and reminds us the enemy of the series is an entity devoid of ethics and justice.
In the story, Jill is attacked by the Pursuer and infected with t-Virus. Eventually she survives but the fact she was infected at this time is an important hint to the story of BIO5.

After being killed by the Tyrant during the Mansion Incident, Wesker returned as a superhuman and confronted Sergei, who'd taken away the mansion's data before he awoke, eventually seizing all of Umbrella's secrets. BSAA--- AN INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION TO CRACK DOWN ON DISPERSED BIOWEAPONS
The BSAA (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Allaince) is a special operations unit specializing in anti-bioterrorism which was organized in the wake of Umbrella's destruction to retaliate against Bio Organic Weapons (B.O.W.) that've begun to spread around the world through the black market. It was established with funding from the Pharmaceutical Industry Association that includes major pharmaceutical companies in various countries, but they intended to suppress voices inquiring about crimes, since converted technologies they provided were brought to light in the many cases caused by Umbrella.
Although it was initially set up as a private military unit specializing in the skills to handle biological disasters, due to the fact civilian-led groups have various restrictions imposed on cross-border anti-terrorism activities, it was therefore reorganized as a public agency under the jurisdiction of the United Nations. However, there are enormous costs to its activities and it's difficult for the United Nations to cover all the costs, so the Pharmaceutical Industry Association's still sponsoring and investing. Therefore, while functioning in a role akin to a world police to crack down on bioterrorism, it hasn't been able to break away from a state of affairs where it's obliged toward the inclinations of the Pharmaceutical Industry Association, and there's often intense outside criticism of these organizational issues.
The organization of the BSAA's divided into eight blocs and the branches located in each region, including the European headquarters, have jurisdiction for activities. In response to bioterror incidents occuring within a jurisdiction, as a general rule, it's possible to deploy military units within 12 hours to quickly resolve them.

CREATURE
MAJINI (p.235)
The indigenous Plaga parasite discovered in a remote region of Southern Europe was improved upon and humans were administered a type put into practical use as a B.O.W. It means "jinn/genies" in Swahili. The Plaga burrows into the the human thorax and takes control of the body by afflicting the central nervous system. Once a symbiotic state's reached the host's consciousness is completely lost, and if the nervous system-assimilated Plaga's extracted, vital functions will also cease. Brain functions remain without any change and they're able to hide within a society by imitating the host's behavior pre-infestation.
MOTORCYCLE MAJINI (p.241)
A Majini with motorcycle driving skills. They freely control dirt bike motorcycles and drive on rough roads with riding that maximizes their performance. Perhaps because they no longer have fear, they make leaps ahead greater than motocross racers using drastic accelerator operation to keep pursuing their prey. It's believed humans affected by the Plaga gain reflexive nerves greatly surpassing normal people by increasing transmission speed, as a result of the parasite's assimilation into the nerves.
EXECUTIONER MAJINI (p.242)
A particular kind of Majini with an inherently superior physique implanted with the Plaga, providing tremendous superhuman strength and endurance. Its entire body's massively fat and wrapped in a layer of muscle strengthened with a chemical substance secreted by the parasite, and it can keep fighting without a flinch even if it's bathed in bullets. During the process of the parasite infection spreading in the town of Kijuju, it acted as a chief executioner using a huge ax-like weapon with a guillotine blade tied to it, mercilessly killing people who refused the Plaga administration or attempted to escape.
BIG MAN MAJINI (p.244)
The "Big Man Majini" isn't the same kind of giant as the "Executioner", but it's tougher and larger than the normal natives and very difficult to kill. However, when the Plaga parasite's injected into these kind of hosts with superior physical strength, it displays poor adaptability particularly on their brain functions. Compared to the normal Majini, it has almost no verbal communication. So exchanging intentions is impossible for it. Although it's highly resilient, its intelligence makes it of only minor application value as a Bio Organic Weapon in cases where organizational behavior's necessary.
CHAINSAW MAJINI (p.246)
This is a type of terrifying Majini with a large chainsaw as its tool to slaughter victims. Its head's covered with a gunny-bag with only the eyes exposed. The Chainsaw Majini's a highly adapted host to the Plaga parasite, so its body became very resilient and its strength was also greatly enhanced. This carrier has an intense desire to kill any uninfected humans and will mercilessly cut them to pieces. The scars on its hands are caused by the constantly shaking chainsaw. In some sense, these scars tell a story about the countless number of this grisly freak's unlucky victims.
GIANT MAJINI (p.248)
These giants were originally the Ndipaya, residents of the wetlands. They were administered the Plaga parasite and mutated into Majini. In the experiment within the Ndipaya's village, villagers were administered the Plaga Type 3 created by implanting a factor from the dominant species Plaga into the subordinate species. This new Plaga species causes dramatic physical enhancement to the host and so some subjects grew to an astonishingly giant size. But during the process of the parasite's growth, female subjects and children died, a serious defect of Plaga Type 3.
GATLING GUN MAJINI (p.250)
Very large soldiers one could say are captain-ranked in the elite Majini corps deployed in the TRICELL research facility. Based on elite soldiers with superior combat skills implanted with the modified parasite which enhanced their strength, they can use Gatling guns originally equipped on vehicles. In the end although its condition as a human's equal to a dead person, its lifestyle prior to infection remains and it shoots blindly while puffing at cigars.
CEPHALO (p.252)
When a Majini receives heavy damage or its head's destroyed, the Plaga parasite inside will mutate and emerge from the host's head. Originally, the Plaga parasite's weak to light and a host whose head's destroyed should die. But the Cephalo has a particular resistance to natural light and can replace the host's lost brain to control it. This creature's appearance is quite similar to a kind of native African plant "Cephalo Pentandora", so it was named "Cephalo."
KIPEPEO (p.253)
A Plaga variation with the ability to fly. If a host receives too much damage, then the parasite will abandon the host. Like its name "Kipepeo", meaning "butterfly" in Swahili, it has slender and light bones with a pair of wings composed of thin involucrum. The Kipepeo flies beautifully in the sky but is very dangerous. It uses its tail to catch victims and strangle them to death. Furthermore, it can also attack helicopters, displaying its high mobility in the air.
DUVALIA (p.254)
Like the Cephalo, when the Plaga parasite detects that its host's vital functions have ceased, it'll mutate further for self-defense. The parasite itself becomes a mutant with a large and thick crust and its rapid growth in size explodes the entire upper part of the Majini's body. This creature's named after a succulent plant called "Duvalia", meaning "Carrion flower."
BUI KICHWA (p.255)
A Plaga parasite grown inside a human's body and able to abandon the Majini host to act independently. A kind of Plaga parasite capable of living without a host for a short time was documented during the Southern Europe bioterror incident, and after some improvement, it can now act independently for quite an extended period of time. It always lurks in the wild waiting for prey. In Swahili, "bui" means "big spider" and "kichwa" means "head."
ADJULE (p.256)
The Adjule was originally a dog fed in Kijuju or the wetlands that was administered the Plaga parasite and transformed into a monster. It has astounding speed and agility capable of attacking an enemy very quickly and effectively. However, compared to the Majini who are humans infected by the parasite, it has much lower intelligence and is less effective during combat. Thus it's believed to be an unplanned irregular mutant. This creature's named after a fairy animal called "Adjule", believed to live in the deserts and savannas of North Africa.
LICKER β (p.258)
The Licker's a human mutant infected with the t-Virus, of which a considerable number were documented in Raccoon City in 1998. It's something that emerged naturally rather than a B.O.W., but since its mobility and aggression were exemplary together, an attempt was made in TRICELL's laboratory to develop a bioweapon based on it, and this improvement was named β. But although it was injected with the Progenitor Virus, it appears the results weren't as improved as expected and only its sense of smell and reproductive ability were enhanced.
REAPER (p.260)
The Reaper's the final form of a mutation of a small arthropod infected by the Uroboros Virus, its size even became larger than a human adult. This creature possesses a very hard epidermis which can defend itself from gunfire and it uses its reap hook-like giant forelimbs as weapons to attack enemies. These limbs are very sharp, able to penetrate or dismember a heavily armored soldier's body very easily. It can also secrete a gaseous chemical to affect an animal’s optic nerves and releases this gas to blind its prey's eyes when close to it.
UROBOROS (p.263)
A human injected with the Uroboros Virus developed based on the Progenitor Virus and unable to tolerate the genetic changes it caused, going out-of-control. The insides of the leech-like substance covering the entire body are stuffed with the explosively-multiplying virus that absorbed the subject's body and functions as a clumped virus aggregate resembling an amorphous organism. An infected host in this condition's no more than a mere vehicle of the virus attacking humans indiscriminately in search of another, better host.
POPOKARIMU (p.265)
By allowing a Plaga to parasitize a bat and repeating improvements, a giant B.O.W. was realized combining target destruction capability and high flying ability. Symbiosis with the parasite enabled complex gene modeling and its wings serve as legs when walking, able to go quadrapedal. Although the Plaga was a weak point exposed on the tail, the front part turned into a hard armor that repels bullets, like that seen on the Duvalia of the Majini parasite variant species, and it secretes a substance of spider-like thread from a membrane on the tail end which halts prey in their tracks.
NDESU (p.268)
Based on the El Gigante created in a parasite application experiment, several of which were documented in the Southern Europe incident, its degree of perfection as a B.O.W. was increased. By making five Plagas parasitize a fully enlarged host, it successfully granted immeasurable durability. Since it utilized the improved Plaga species capable of faithfully carrying out commands, the problematic aspect of being difficult to control achieved exceptional progress. The name Ndesu's from an ogre in Central African folklore boasting a huge body.
IRVING (p.272)
Irving injected a dominant species Plaga embryo into his own body then mutated into a gigantic aquatic creature capable of surviving in water. Mutating into something quite different from the creatures that emerged from the Plagas used by the ringleaders of the Southern Europe Incident, we're guessing this was an improved Plaga species similar to that of the subordinate Plaga species. The dominant species Plaga's unique characteristic is that humans who become hosts to these parasites don't lose their consciousness and can remain in control with their present state of mind. However, since the new Plaga species is already controlled via different means of command, the purpose of injecting this is limited to boosting the host's capabilities in combat.
U-8 (p.275)
A B.O.W. created by combining the genes of different creatures and administering the Plaga parasite to remove the segregation between the varying cells. It possesses a very hard carapace comparable to tank armor, with even heavy fire like rockets unable to damage it directly. Its abdomen can accommodate a large amount of flying B.O.W.'s, patrol aircrafts used as guardians of the U-8 that'll kill any enemies who dare to approach it.
UROBOROS MKONO (p.278)
An uncontrollable organism equipped with elastic arms webbed together with the virus' mass, the name Mkono is the expression for "arm" in Swahili. After being administered the Uroboros Virus, the male subject exhibited signs of facing stabilization after the gene selection process, but seemed to be slightly lacking in aptitude and became a monster in the final stage. This could be called an example of actual evidence he had a high degree of adaptation to virus-induced forced evolution, allowing him to mutate into a stronger individual, and they were a failure who was rejected mid-selection.
UROBOROS AHERI (p.281)
A figure which became gigantic due to an uncontrollable host absorbing a large amount of human corpses, taking in excessive nourishment and many genes. When the virus spreads within a highly populated urban area, many infected people will transform into such out-of-control hosts and are expected to spread the disaster. Aheri means "end" and "limit" in Swahili and it could be said the name's appropriate for this individual which is a being that'll bring humanity to an end, at the same time symbolizing the dead-end of evolution via the Uroboros Virus.
JILL (p.284)
After Jill was confined she was administered an ancillary chemical discovered during Progenitor Virus research. This chemical's called P30, and thus Jill was in an enslaved state. P30 can enhance the subject's strengh and speed of neural reflexes. Furthermore, the subject doesn't lose their consciousness but free will is removed and they behave as directed by commands. Jill's a female soldier with excellent combat prowess and after being administered this chemical, her strength's close to superhuman. She can even run freely on walls and easily neutralizes Chris, who should be much tougher than her.
WESKER 1-2 BATTLE (p.288)
An extremely rare being who adapted to an experimental stage virus based on the Progenitor Virus, obtaining physical aptitude exceeding a perfected B.O.W. with no loss of his human appearance or sense of self. His body was rearranged from his original cellular tissue and is equipped with indomitable strength and power ordinary humans can't compete with, he can even pierce through a human body empty-handed to kill them. His reflexes should be specifically mentioned, if he's aware of an enemy he displays unmatched reaction and can easily evade bullets fired at point blank range one after another.
WESKER 3 BATTLE (p.293)
Wesker's an adapter to virus-induced forced evolution but absorbed a large amount of the Uroboros Virus meant for dispersal, intentionally inducing an out-of-control state to raise his combat abilities to the limit. The virus aggregate outside his body's completely controlled by his will so there's no fear of it devouring the host body. Even fragments of metal are taken in by the enlarged arms reminiscent of Uroboros Mkono, increasing the weight in order to deal fatal blows simply by swinging.
STORY
Prologue
---Is this world worth risking your life?
That's what Chris Redfield has been asking himself. An unanswered question, when it comes to protecting those who love one another, the good ones, his answer's a definite yes. But what about the rest of the world? Is there any point in putting yourself on the line for a world of fools blinded by their desires, so easily opening up the gates of hell and causing so much destruction? There are certainly people in this world who it seems desire only to perish. Greedy fools swinging pickaxes from their pedestals in search of gold. Chris is skeptical about these people. If that's the majority in this world, is there any reason to protect this world, or even to make sense of it...?
2003--- he witnessed the source of the biohazard to an end as a central figure in a private anti-bioterror unit, the predecessor to the BSAA. Under the mask of a pharmaceutical company, Umbrella, an insane organization that had developed a horrific array of biological weapons--- the last of its savage evil research was hidden deep inside a frozen secret Russian factory. At that time, Chris believed the world was saved. It seemed like a new dawn had just begun and they were finally moving away from the brink of self-destruction, leading to a future full of light.
But that never happened.
It was far from over. The frightening technologies they'd developed never went away, and the secrets tightly controlled by the Umbrella organization prior to then were taken out by researchers who no longer feared the organization's surveillance. They dove into the underworld outside the law and soon spread throughout the world as "commodities." As powerful armaments that can be obtained cheaply, terrorists have begun purchasing bioweapons.
---When will it end? If the tightrope goes on endlessly, isn't that no different from destruction?
Referred to as "the BSAA's ace", Chris has a brilliant track record preventing many bioterror attacks, but Chris' chest is filled with an indescribable emptiness. Many comrades have been sacrificed to repair the errors of fools. Even if the world's saved, these friends will never return. He had lost his irreplaceable former partner.
Bzzzzt!
Large flies whirling around his ears bring Chris back to reality. The morning sun was already radiating the heat on his bare skin in Kijuju, a town in the western part of Africa. At a storefront on the main street, torn apart livestock give off an unpleasant odor. Noise-laden speech coming out of the radio can be heard among the dry wind across the street. It was in the local language, agitated, and terribly hard to hear, but Chris could understand the meaning of some words.
"Lead us... paradise... salvation! Death... judgment..."
He faintly scowled at the unsettling sounds. In this country where the government has just fallen, the imaginary and inanimate are competing for power over the next leader. The atmosphere in the city was on edge and could break out into a riot. The speech, intended to agitate the human mind, continues to echo in violent tones that foment a dangerous atmosphere.
---As good a place as any for an underground bioweapons deal.
Chris is here to put a stop to the deal and secure the trafficker's identity. Even if he couldn't find the answer, it was time to act. Time to investigate the truth of some incredible rumors.
A siren sounds somewhere and echoes in the streets over the speech from the radio. Sheva Alomar, who'd just joined him, stopped and looked around suspiciously.
The town's appearance changed completely in a few moments. The murderous hustle stopped in an instant and signs of life only seconds ago had vanished. The streets were empty, the town looked like a ghost town at midday. All that remained was dust and heavy air.
The premonition of something wrong slithers up Chris' back and runs down his spine. A kind of extra-sensory perception ability he's acquired from biological disasters, a warning alarm of violence. Chris hurries to the meeting location.
Something was starting to happen. Beyond the shimmering of a heat haze, something that would destroy everyday life.
The two agents are already in the midst of the situation. But it's still unclear for Chris and Sheva. A storm of death that can only be surpassed by an unwillingness to keep a calm silence before attacking.
On this day, the town called Kijuju vanished. Instead, what appeared in its place was a hell named Kijuju, where monsters dressed as humans had taken over.
The gates to hell had been opened.
CHAPTER 1
"Partner..."
Chris is thinking about Sheva Alomar, someone whom he met just a while ago, and is now assisting him in his job.
Honestly, he'd never expected Sheva to be involved so deeply. Before he had any knowledge of the situation, Chris was even thinking to himself it might be better off doing it without a partner. It's better not to have more people going down in this mission. After all, Chris has had enough of these "I'm alive but my partner's dead" sorts of deals. He doesn't want to be the survivor anymore because of this.
Truth is, for the past few years, Chris has never found any new partner to form a proper team within the BSAA. It's only in a few exceptional cases where he'll get someone to tag along. Most of the time, he prefers to work alone.
Of course, fighting the battle alone isn't his personal preference. Partners are often needed just so you have someone to watch your back, and it definitely helps to have a person to provide cover for each other to take down hostiles. All the while Chris is simply using his experience and endurance to complete his missions. In short, he's using his impressive abilities to make up for the fact he has no backup.
Working with anyone will certainly help, but that also means that person's living in danger too. If simply talking about the risk of the mission, it's logical that going in a large group's better than doing it solo. However, even if it means the chances of losing a teammate are smaller, as long as there exists a slim possibility someone's going to get hurt, Chris would rather fight it alone. He hopes no matter how bad the situation is, he'll be the only person who sacrifices.
In this mission, it's inevitable that someone who's familiar with the area would be required as a partner. Kijuju hasn't been stable for quite some time, and with the recent changes in the country's political side, the situation's actually deteriorating. Communication has broken down indefinitely and the civilians are feeling pretty low. Foreigners, especially those operating under the guise of a world police, are what's needed to break the mental limits of those people. As such, someone who understands the local languages is needed.
The chosen partner's Sheva Alomar from the BSAA West African branch.
Chris has nothing against having a female partner. In fact, the partner he regarded as irreplaceable was a female too. She's the perfect person whom Chris can totally trust and rely on, someone whom he believes is what he needed to complete any mission. Chris felt their teamwork was like an eagle able to escape from biohazardous danger.
However, one of the eagle's wings was broken. What remains is a grave with no corpse. The name on the tombstone is Jill Valentine.
Chris doesn't want to experience that anymore, hence the reason he started going into missions alone from then on.
According to intel, the risks in this mission aren't very significant at all. Chris has the identity information of the weapons smuggler whom he has been tracking down. He's just going in as an observer. Chris and Sheva's job is to go in after the main forces have taken over the area, then escort the weapons smuggler (who'll already have been arrested by then), back.
Unfortunately, the situation had taken a bad turn. When Chris and Sheva go to meet up with Alpha Team, the people tasked with the break-in, he discovered the people of Kijuju revealing some sort of murderous intention which doesn't belong to any human.
This situation's similar to a biohazard outbreak five years ago in a quiet village. That case was when the U.S. president's daughter was abducted and Leon S. Kennedy, a U.S. agent, was sent in to rescue her. According to his report, the villagers mutated into what are called "Ganado" due to a parasite known as the Plaga. The parasite's something capable of taking over the human body's nervous system and using the brain to engage in battle, effectively turning the person into a bioweapon. After a major upgrade, the new version of the parasite's able to work its magic within 10 seconds, and this new version of the Plaga has been spread throughout the Kijuju region.
Monsters in human bodies have started attacking Chris and Sheva. They're able to use human language to communicate and tell each other their victims' location. Furthermore, they're also capable to getting over barriers and breaking down doors to get to them. Savages may not be the correct term to describe them anymore. They're practically a monster army from hell. They're demons with several simplistic thoughts: catch, bite and tear.
Despite that, Sheva wasn't intimidated at all. She calmly lifted her gun, took aim, then pressed the trigger. The bullets accurately pierced the creatures' bodies. While the remaining creatures were getting stunned from that, she made use of openings to rain down punches and kicks on them. This warrior's assuming full responsibility for covering Chris' back, just like she believes Chris is watching her back too.
Its hard for Chris not to feel impressed by her. Even Jill at the age of 23 almost couldn't react like this when she first faced those creatures. That was more than a decade ago though.
"I'll just trust her then, and let her watch my back."
Sheva's still young with very good potential to be a BSAA leader in the future, so Chris decides maybe he shouldn't die yet either. To find his missing wing, Chris has headed into the land of Africa.
Letting Sheva do the job of providing cover, Chris planted three bullets into the heads of the Plaga monsters, effectively killing them.
Sheva blows a whistle as a congrats sign. The eagle missing a wing since the loss of Jill is up and flying again thanks to his new partner. The face of anti-bioterrorism is able to let loose his full potential once again.
The shield protecting them from death however, is crumbling down...
CHAPTER 2
Chris is staring intently at a statue of a sleeping beauty. He's like a person looking at his lover through a mirror, where the other side of the mirror's a different dimension.
The image displayed on the PDA screen issued by the BSAA isn't very good quality. The faint face is illuminated by a weak light, and the blurry rim of the face is full of fantasy colors. It's unknown whether this is what gives the person in the image a sense of living. This also gives what's on the other side of this still image, Chris, to believe the person in the screen's still alive.
Perhaps this is hope in his heart, or maybe it's a dumb innocent wish. The lady in the image is like a white dead body with pure skin. The hair color seems to be slightly lighter than what Chris had in mind, and due to the closed eyelids, it's kind of hard to tell. There are many unknowns surrounding this picture, and it's not far fetched to say this lady's related to her.
Despite that, Chris is able to recognize the person. He's been chasing this lead all the while, just so he can repair the missing piece of his heart. This can't be a mistake, nor an illusion. This is a fact.
Among all the information from the evidence they've confiscated at the deal location for the bioweapon, this image is the only item with her shadow. This photo has a background of a laboratory, which means this is a photograph of a test subject.
It's Jill, his old partner who sacrificed herself and jumped off a cliff in order to save Chris. Due to Jill's absence ever since, the BSAA have removed her from duty. But two years later, there's finally a sign that shows she may be alive after all, and this sign's appearing right in front of her partner who refuses to believe she's dead.
The reason why Chris, who was from BSAA North American branch, was hoping to join this operation within Kijuju, was because he'd obtained some sort of lead leaked by Irving on the black market while he was looking for Jill. This "lead" isn't even hearsay. It's just an unreliable rumor. However, Chris found it hard to ignore that rumor as it actually popped up in the black market for no reason. In theory, "Jill Valentine" shouldn't have any reason to even exist in this place at all, but he somehow made his way onto the team for this mission, positioning himself to deal with this guy who Alpha Team's supposed to handle.
Chris finally discovered something related. As if he's scared that this will fly away like a balloon, he's grabbing tight at this clue which if he released, will never find it again.
However... the situation in front of them has gotten out of hand. There's no humanity left in Kijuju. They appear to be possessed, the locals calling them "Majini." They're poor puppets who got sacrificed to the newly improved parasites. The scene in front of Chris resembles Raccoon City when it got consumed by massive flames. Is this place going to end up being utterly destroyed too? In order to conceal this incident, does that mean Kijuju's fated to be destroyed as well?
This isn't the only threat from bioweapons. Irving, who has already discovered the movement of BSAA special troops, has released a dangerous B.O.W. capable of spreading infection everywhere, inside the building of the deal location. The reason for this was to lay a trap for the incoming forces.
The creepy and bizarre organism secretes a slimy liquid which doesn't look very different from black oil. Perhaps it's wrong to call it a creature. The remains where the heart's supposed to be is just a lump of flesh, or rather, human remains which don't look human. The numerous gigantic, black-snake like monsters gathered together and formed a humanoid like it was a magic show.
The body bundled by the black tentacles crawls along the ground at a high speed which shouldn't be possible for something so big. This unknown monster has just wiped out the entire well-equipped Alpha Team in an instant.
When Chris and his partner arrived at the place, Captain DeChant was the only one still breathing. The rest of the teammates were stabbed, despite wearing battle suits which include a bullet & blade-proof vest. Their bodies have turned into some rotting, pitiful black corpses. DeChant used his last remaining energy to pass along the data to Chris before he died.
The two soldiers were able to defeat this mysterious B.O.W. because they were lucky enough to encounter it at the underground furnace. Even if you fire at this B.O.W. point blank, this monster will sustain little to no damage at all due to the body being comprised of those thick black ropes which allow it to separate and regroup at will, pretty effective for dodging. The partners end up incinerating this invincible-seeming monster. The Uroboros cells capable to regenerating infinitely just got toasted to hell by this giant burning ground which is strong enough to burn any human to ashes instantly. What's left on the ground are its worthless remains.
When Chris imagined how things might turn out if they were fighting it outdoors instead, he shivered like a carnivore just licked him. If there are no anti-tank rocket launchers available, its safe to assume they wouldn't be able to take it down even if they depleted their ammo on it. If biological experiments are already being conducted on it, and with the possibility of Irving spreading it, then that means they need to arrest him at any cost. This dangerous mission naturally falls onto Chris and Sheva' shoulders due to Alpha Team's demise.
At this moment, the possibility of Jill's survival has awakened Chris' battle senses. He's going to find Irving no matter what, then force him to spill on where to find these B.O.W.'s he released in Kijuju, along with the location where the photo was taken... Jill's location.
Although they'd broken through countless waves of Majini and caught up with their target in the end, they still found themselves behind by a step. As the confrontation with Irving takes place in a building by a hillside, a mysterious figure in a cloak disguise and a bird mask suddenly appeared on the scene, then disappeared along with Irving in a split second. Facing this unknown character behind a smoke-screen, Chris has a strange feeling. For some reason he's starting to feel anxious.
Sunset's approaching, and darkness is beginning to take over the marshland. The clock's still ticking as the mission continues...
CHAPTER 3
Sheva's taking a look within herself.
Analyzing Sheva's personality, it's obvious that for someone who's an optimistic, strong-minded girl like her, she belongs to a group brimming with "light." Sheva can head towards the direction of the light, and no matter what circumstances she's in, her heart will never get polluted or fall to the dark side. Sheva Alomar has the spirit of a natural-born warrior.
But there's a shadow in Sheva's heart. This dark shadow in her heart's something hidden within herself that she can't comprehend.
"Is this anger?"
On one day in her youth--- something happened when she was still an 8-year-old girl, altering her world. Her parents who'd been taking good care of her had passed away. The pharmaceutical factory where her parents worked at, or rather an Umbrella weapons laboratory disguised as a medicine factory, was the cause of her parents' death due to a biohazard experiment incident. The government had close ties with the giant corporation and covered up the truth, so Sheva couldn't even bid farewell to her beloved parents' dead bodies.
Since then, she was under her world's control. Her relatives thought they were going to get some compensation so they took her in, practically kidnapping her. When they realised they weren't getting a single cent, they starved her. She escaped her uncle's place and while she was struggling for her life, an anti-government group that was angry at the government being a puppet to Umbrella Corp., took her in. Henceforth she spent her youth in military fatigues.
There are many terms for these people, but no matter what the terms are, it doesn't change the fact they behave like terrorists. Their aim's simply to "take down the corrupt government and replace it with a new one that won't be bullied by more powerful countries" which separates them from terrorists. They treated her like a comrade, raising her in a manner where she turned into an ordinary girl unlike them.
This time didn't last long, as the organization crossed the line when Sheva was 15. Maybe they were tired of fighting, but they collaborated with Umbrella to take down the government. They planned a large-scale biohazard attack, which of course didn't sit well with Sheva.
She left the group and made a deal with a U.S. Government agent. She supplied the man with information, then they foiled the plan. The group took a major hit.
Sheva departed for America and received education under the U.S. Government. This was to prepare her to become a fighter against biohazardous outbreaks and Umbrella.
Her dream never changed after becoming part of the BSAA. Although Umbrella's dead, their legacy remains. A simple terrorist can still get their hands on a dangerous B.O.W. easily. "Can't let them get onto the market", this aim's the source of strength which makes her fight against biohazardous activities. Even for someone who belongs to the "light", after being burned from the death of her parents, she's ready to burst.
"But is this really anger?" She asked herself.
This is beyond the BSAA's control. The chopper got destroyed, and Delta Team was wiped out save for Josh Stone. When HQ issues an order of retreat, it means the situation's so bad they're to consider whether carpet bombing the area's a solution.
But Sheva refused to return. Even though this seems like a blind judgement, she chose to go ahead and arrest Irving alongside Chris. She stubbornly rejected Chris' warning and stayed at the scene with her willpower.
The underground dealer had a change in front of them.
On the boat traveling along the seabed, something's moving on his back behind his jacket. Ricardo Irving's screaming, his face a mixed expression of regret, happiness, surprise and pain. Several snake-like tentacles as big as Chris' arms spawned from Irving's back, flapping around while fresh blood burst out from the wounds. Irving began to laugh maniacally, his body shivering as if he was without bones.
Despite the crazy and horrific sight, Chris isn't afraid at all. He's not backing down against a guy who has tossed away his humanity.
"That's what I think, at least."
The battle spirit surged out from the inner portion of their hearts. This is what burns within them when they're in a desperate situation.
"I want his recognition. I want him, who's chasing after Jill, to take me as a partner."
Sheva knew both Jill and Chris are the heroes who took down Umbrella. Her aim's far. In this case, she has to chase after the shadow of Jill and surpass her. She has to remain brave no matter what.
The sound of the bullets from Chris' gun, and the splashes of water caused by Irving under the water, are the battle signals for the lady warrior who sees her future.
CHAPTER 4
"What a magnificent view!"
A beautiful concrete street's in front of the pair. The stones of the structure have been made with care, which illustrates its creators' advanced architectural techniques. The natural light shining in from somewhere lights up this underground city.
A giant hole beyond anyone's imagination is hidden deep within the shore, as well as the numerous mysterious structures which seem to be capable of filling up the hole itself. They have been there since a long time ago... or maybe even during the prehistoric period. This is a city ruin--- or a better term might be a holy ground. A secret holy ground defended for generations by a king.
But the holy ground's guards exist no more. Hidden in the dark corners of the streets is a bunch of puppets manipulated by a weird worm--- a parasite known as the Plaga. The term given to these possessed, insane people is "Majini."
They're known as the "Ndipaya Tribe." They're the natives who live in the wetlands outside the Kijuju Autonomous Zone. These tribes-people have built various unique wooden structures while living an isolated life free from the cities and politics. Their ancestors had constructed a secret kingdom in the land of Africa so advanced it's enough to rewrite history. However, they were annihilated, as they were used as test subjects by people who've taken enormous sums of money.
The mastermind of the mining for the oil exploitation is Ricardo Irving. This heartless merchant of death used the excuse of preventing some disease to inject a "vaccine" into the entire population of the Ndipaya tribe. All females, kids yet to reach a certain age, as well as unborn babies died during the process.
The male adults have their minds taken away by the parasite, while their agility has been enhanced. They're bloodthirsty and have turned into grim reapers. Their hearts burn with uncontrollable killing instincts and they've put their tribe's traditional war paint on their bodies. The dignity of this proud tribe has been uprooted, turning them into monsters.
This cruel act's something only a devil could do. For his own selfish intentions, the tribes born from the ancient civilization have been wiped out in an instant. This cruel deed can only be undertaken by heartless, crazy people who believe only in "might makes right."
The mind behind this activity, Irving, is dying on his way to hell. According to Kennedy's report, Plaga-infected people gain enormous strength while still retaining their consciousness. However, their appearance may turn into some weird, gigantic monster. These are demonic seeds. Having chosen the path of injecting this B.O.W. into his body with no chance of returning to humanity, Irving dies after a deadly battle with Chris and co. He turned into an ugly lump of meat, then dissolved as he screamed in pain. Heaven has just brought down judgement on his deeds.
This pathetic money-governed slave was merely a dancing puppet behind an authentic evil.
Irving belongs to the gigantic enterprise "TRICELL" which harbors 3 major sections: shipping, natural resources development, and pharmaceuticals divisions. He's in charge of the natural resources department, and his mining facility belongs to the TRICELL Africa company. But the BSAA missed the key link between the two.
Irving's black market trading is just his personal crime, but the main reason there are so many sacrifices for this combat mission's due to their battle information having been leaked out. Excella Gionne's the female boss who controls all the departments. She's also the same person in charge of the TRICELL Africa company as well as the one responsible for allowing Irving to sell covertly developed B.O.W.'s on the black market. The series of biohazardous activities is the work of the world's leading conglomerate, on top of the biggest sponsor and largest influence on the BSAA, TRICELL.
The only clue given to Chris and co. is the name "Excella" uttered by Irving before he died, along with the deep passage having been used for escape by the hooded lady in the bird mask.
As Chris and co. navigate into this secret passage, he feels someone's pulling the strings behind all this.
The city roamed only by semi-dead people has turned into a holy ground for worship. This sacred place can only be crossed by a select few who possess unmatched intelligence and strength. This underground structure contained numerous traps difficult to duplicate even with modern scientific technology, and operated on natural sunlight. The complicated stairs used to fend off intruders form a maze. There are also passages constantly swept by the rays of frying sunlight from gigantic magnifying glasses, intense enough to scorch a human to death in an instance. These light traps will forever trap any people stupid enough to intrude on the place.
These were constructed by an ancient king and used to select the successor. Without a powerful body and brain to see through the secrets hidden deep beneath this holy ground, this place is basically a deadly testing ground.
Chris and Sheva passed the test, then headed into the deepest area to the underground garden. The Ndipaya called it the "Sun Garden", a holy ground where people can receive extraordinary intelligence.
They see intriguing flowers around. They look like Chrysanthemums, but they also look like something red and poisonous. Neither of them have any idea these flowers are responsible for the start of everything, in other words, the progenitor. But their gazes soon leave these flowers.
The reason for that's because...
What appeared in front of them was a symbol which should've been destroyed, that symbolizes disaster, the logo of Umbrella.
Umbrella's legacy has been taken over by a new generation of mad successors. TRICELL has become the successor in control of the Progenitor Virus. The soul of evil carries on here.
What Chris hadn't noticed, is that if this path had a clue on Jill, then all the dots would be connected. The rival who disappeared with her will show up soon...
CHAPTER 5
After she wakes up, everything burns into her mind.
The extraction of the numerous blood and cell samples, as well as the various electronic devices connected to her body which take away her freedom, are recording all the details related to her body. Her physical information's totally exposed due to inspection from these various devices.
Unknown chemicals are injected into her body constantly, some make her heart pump excitedly, others make her feel as if she's at the calm before death... some make her feel confused. These medicines won't just cause people to have illusions or enhanced nerve sensories, but also false feelings where a second feels like a few minutes. Her spirit's being toyed with, her body continuously tortured. For the TRICELL scientists who've long abandoned human sense, she's no human, but a toy identified as Test Subject 0084-6237.
But someone's displeased with the fact her personality's being wiped away. This man's the mastermind behind this human experiment, and he doesn't simply just view her as a test subject. Besides a subject for study, he also used a special kind of drug to control her, then treated her as his loyal right hand man. For this to happen to her, who has tired of fighting evil schemes, is an insult to the justice within her.
After being released from the laboratory facility, she was given a suit that allows her to execute missions in secret. A mask which makes people think of a nocturnal hunting animal, as well as a dark cloak covering the body that hasn't deteriorated, but rather been further augmented during long term training within her prison--- assuming an underground mystery identity, she's now a subordinate of terrorists. She appears actively in the dark corners of the streets, striking fear and leaving a trail of disaster wherever she goes.
A chemical injected into her body holds the power to control anyone, no matter how tough the person's spirit. This is a very threatening and dangerous drug. This isn't what's frightening. The most terrifying aspect of the chemical is that it retains the person's consciousness. This is to say the drug won't take away the person's thoughts, but also retain their memories while being forced to execute the mission.
Hence she remembers everything. She'd become the bodyguard of Ricardo Irving and they travelled to Kijuju together. They also infected a guy in town with the Uroboros Virus, then set him as a trap to deal with the BSAA Alpha Team. Her body totally ignored her willpower to go against the orders, so she has to watch her body executing these cruel missions without any control. But she remembers clearly who she is.
She remembers her name's Jill Valentine -
Jill's still alive.
That day, when she stepped into the mansion where Umbrella's founder Oswell E. Spencer resided, she chose the route of dying along with her rival. To save Chris, she leapt without hesitation, then fell down the cliff with her enemy. That was from a height where if you fall, there's no way you could survive.
The man who should've died with Jill had gotten used to the virus that had altered his DNA, turning into a superhuman beyond anyone's imagination. This man was Jill's superior during her time in S.T.A.R.S., as well as an Umbrella spy--- Albert Wesker. With his superb reflexes and strength, he used the cliff to decrease the speed of the fall and survived, not forgetting to save Jill too. He carried her to his personal laboratory, stepping onto sacred ground stained by darkness. Wesker's actions had one reason--- He wished to give this lady, who resented him as much as Chris did, a taste of a suffering worse than death, by injecting her body with the Uroboros Virus which hadn't been completed yet.
Jill was placed in a long cyrogenic sleep in a low temperature chamber for the virus to take effect. This greatly altered her fate of heading into a path of destruction though. The t-Virus which went dormant during the treatment she received during the Raccoon City Destruction Incident had awakened due to her extended cyrogenic sleep.
Wesker discovered it, then he extracted the antibodies. He used it to control the toxicity of the Uroboros Virus, which uses the Progenitor Virus as its basis. Ironically, the antibodies from Jill's body accelerated completion of the Uroboros Virus.
Jill, with her antibodies, has been administered P30--- Gifted with superhuman abilities, she's been given a powerful drug that controls her mind too. This evil drug is continuously injected into her body, torturing her to no end. Just as Wesker intended, Jill's receiving hell-like suffering.
"I'm begging you, kill me!"
The silent scream's playing in Jill's mind. She has turned into a super weapon, her body harboring murderous intent she can't control. The man's instructions play in her mind in the midst of her pointing and squeezing the trigger of the machine gun at the targets.
"Kill him. Turn Chris and his partner, Sheva, into two corpses."
Wesker's instruction to Jill before he leaves, which is to kill Chris who has finally come for her, plays mercilessly in her mind like an echo. The painful, unbearable order's destroying Jill mentally, and she's begging with her mind for her old partner, Chris, to end her suffering.
"Don't worry about me! If this goes on I'll only end up killing both of you! Shoot me, please!"
Despite that, Chris refuses to give up. Chris screams like a beast at the brainwashed Jill. He promises that even if it means giving up his life, he's going to free his partner with whom he has finally reunited, from her curse.
Sheva shares his sentiment. She switched from her gun to close-quarters combat to subdue Jill. This is to extract and destroy the device from her chest--- the device that has been injecting the P30 into Jill.
This is to awaken Jill--- the determination from these two people gives her strength, a strength powerful enough for her to briefly override the order inside her brain.
"Chris, you've found a great partner. I won't give up either, and I'll work hard to get back by your side!"
There's a little sadness there... because Chris has found a new wing.
CHAPTER 6
A black nightmare emerged from the body of Excella Gionne.
This is a living nightmare capable the blanketing the entire Earth and plunging every living thing into despair. When all the colors merged into one, it became a stained dark color. This is the solidification of the forbidden, evil intention by the wishful dream of people who wished to become gods. This destructive shadow has tipped the balance of the world, preparing to send the planet into a direction of no return.
Excella's arrogant expression on her beautiful face began to shift and twist. Her face deformed like an abstract art piece as ink-like liquid started to pour out. A group of large snakes rushed out from her mouth. These snake-like creatures are formed when people can't adapt to the Uroboros Virus. These creatures rapidly multiply in front of Chris and co., subsequently swallowing their host, the female boss of the TRICELL Africa Branch.
This is just like the snake that swallows its own tail, which is also the symbol of eternal return--- Uroboros. Excella's model-like body, decorated with various accessories, is fitting enough to brace the cover of fashion magazines. At this moment however, this body's now giving birth to this black virus, which soon mercilessly consumes her body in no time, both within and without. This Uroboros Virus has just extracted the necessary minerals it needed from Excella's body, this causing the organism to become bigger in no time.
This is the saddest death for the witch who has been using countless victims as laboratory test subjects. You can also say this is her retribution if you want. Unfortunately, these tentacles weren't satisfied just destroying the victim's body. Almost as if driven by greed and hunger, the Uroboros stretches out its tentacles.
It was clear what it was trying to do. Just somewhere nearby was a small pile of corpses. These were nutrients provided for the Uroboros to consume in order to grow stronger.
Chris and Sheva watched in horror as the Uroboros reached for the corpse mountain, using its tentacles to absorb the dead bodies one by one. After its hunger was satisfied, the Uroboros wriggled disgustingly on the gigantic deck board of the ship.
After all the bodies had been consumed, the Uroboros turned into a demon tree from hell. Just like a huge tree that had planted its root firmly into the ground for thousands of years, it stands like a catastrophic event waiting to happen. This demon tree stood up in front of Chris and Sheva, as if trying to reach for the sky in an attempt to tear down heaven and the gods.
The tentacles are still searching around for food, and in the meantime, Sheva and Chris escaped into the ship itself. This was a tactical retreat. It doesn't matter if they found a way to escape from this place now though, as neither of them have any intention of leaving this matter alone anyway. As agents tasked to scrubbing these biological affairs from the world, no doubt they have no reason to leave behind this bioweapon. They don't think the creature will die from sinking into the water, and in a worst case scenario, the creature might even pollute the entire ocean which would spread the danger--- and there's a very significant possibility of this happening. Since the Uroboros is tracking down both of them, they might as well go along with the situation and try to trap it on the boat to destroy it.
At this moment, Chris and Sheva realize this is what their enemy means by the "true face of the end of the world."
If the virus was to be carried up into the sky by a missile then got released into the atmosphere, the virus will be blown by the easterly winds to cover a big portion of the Earth. If that's the case, the world will be blanketed by a nightmare forever. Those rejected by the virus will go crazy and become carriers of the virus seeking the next victim. This event will play out continuously, then soon enough the whole world will be ruled by the Uroboros Virus, forever shifting the planet's ecosystem.
Uroboros will appear in the populated regions initially. At the end of the event, these creatures will also appear in the cities around the world, wriggling their tentacles as if to bid farewell to the end of humanity.
No matter what, Wesker's plan has to be stopped. This plan was inherited from the founder of Umbrella, Oswell E. Spencer, derived from his dream of "creating a new human race strong enough to survive the virus". The fate of six billion lives is now in the hands of the two agents who've been relentlessly in pursuit of this plan.
The ultimate form of the creature's still growing, expanding to a size so big it's capable of capsizing the ship right now if it wanted. It thrust its tentacles into the body of the ship to find the location of Chris and Sheva. Both of them evaded the ambushes while navigating the corridors, until they reached the bridge where they discover the way to destroy this demon tree.
A satellite laser weapon--- created as a precautionary measure just in case something goes wrong with the Uroboros experiment. TRICELL created this weapon allowing them to transmit a signal to the satellite to fire a gigantic laser beam at the target. If they used this on the cores of the ultimate form, perhaps they can end this serpent's life.
No, no "maybe." It's a must. We mustn't allow Wesker's wish to come true. I have no more doubt on whether this world's worth fighting for.
Sheva nodded at Chris, apparently approving the idea Chris was having. Chris looked straight into her eyes with an intense determination to defend the world with his life.
Both their souls merged without a word and the partnership headed towards the area which was holding the secret weapon. Uroboros reacted towards the prey immediately. Four gigantic tentacles which were as big as the head of the creature, emerged from the surface of the sea, ready to kill both of them anytime.
Sheva holds up the weapon, and shouts at the target without any fear.
"Rest in peace, Excella!"
Epilogue
Tomorrow will come without fail----.
Someone said to their believers that the lives of people are like flowers, fleeting as if in a dream. A storm in the night laid waste to the flowers that were meant to have bloomed the next morning.
The deathly wind blowing the life out of the flower petals could be compared to a cruel twist of fate. An untold number of flowers would die in a single night in the event of a sudden natural disaster or war. Powers that can't be fought by single individuals can easily steal away the morning before the night's over. It's said the world could completely change before you open your eyes in the morning. Deep tears could be shed, thinking about the future that's been lost.
This might be a somewhat pessimistic viewpoint. People would be unable to live if they were always in fear of what could happen tomorrow. Those people who believe in tomorrow are the people who work together to build a world for the people.
But...
This storm was a vicious one, unlike any seen since the dawn of man. Anything caught up in this night storm would be totally destroyed. It was a massively destructive wind that would not only extinguish six billion flowers, but also tear up the roots of the tree to which they were affixed--- the world itself.
What brought about this day of reckoning was the will of a single man--- the crazed will of Albert Wesker who hoped for a virus to separate and judge all mankind, continuing the will of the now dead Umbrella Corporation.
All of the viruses until now that had over and over again threatened the world with biohazards--- the t-Virus, G-Virus, t-Veronica, were all invented based on the Progenitor Virus extracted from the mythical flower "Stairway to the Sun," passed on by the Ndipaya tribe. The founders of Umbrella, noticing how the virus rapidly altered the DNA of living creatures, were delighted by this and imagined it as a hand of god or a divine medicine for leading Homo sapiens to the next stage of evolution. The world-class pharmaceutical corporation was just a front for hiding all traces of developing B.O.W.'s to sell on the black market, the company's true objective. They created Umbrella solely to modify the Progenitor Virus to complete the "ultimate" virus in order to turn the world into their own Shangri-La.
However, creating the virus called "Uroboros" took nearly half a century since the discovery of the Progenitor Flower called the Stairway to the Sun. The creators, envisioning themselves as gods, descended into mutual distrust, conniving and backstabbing, then perished from this world before witnessing its completion. It was Albert Wesker, who took the virus himself and evolved into a super-being, who continued their work like nothing had ever happened. He made it his job to spread the Uroboros Virus around the entire world as a means to usher the world into a new age. He hoped to rid the world of the inferior modern man and become the god of the new man.
It had been a long time since predictions of a global collapse in the not too distant future, due to global warming, pollution, rampant selfishness and runaway population growth. According to some, Umbrella's plan offered swift salvation to this world. One could imagine it as a quick remedy for a diseased planet, not unlike derailing a runaway train in order to save it before it careens off a cliff.
But, this ideal had devolved into a more aggressive selection of the species. The Uroboros Virus was a powerful drug--- no, not a drug, a poison--- that would only let those humans with superior DNA evolve to the next level. And as far as can be determined, only one man had successfully completely adapted to the virus, out of an uncountable number of victims in prototype experiments.
Or maybe none of the six billion humans were suitable to become a new human species to begin with. This wind of death, this virus, was about to be released upon the entire world. Mankind wouldn't wake up to the next morning...
In the sky above the rising sun, Chris remembered the same question again.
---Is there any value in putting one's life at risk to protect this world?
There is, now he thinks.
The world, with its civilization and six billion souls truly looked to be heading for its final destruction. There were wars around the world and countless problems that needed to be quickly resolved. Bioterror incidents would happen again and again. The flowers would eventually wilt and die.
But even so, Chris felt the idea of killing the flowers so new ones can be born, of killing the tree all the way to its roots, was a crazed idea. He felt Wesker had followed an extreme logic and became intoxicated with the magnanimous power to destroy the world using Umbrella's deadly assets.
The volcanic island, which was the scene of the battle, was now glowing red and billowing volcanic ash. These purifying flames had cleansed the Uroboros Virus once and for all, incinerating and destroying this man with insane ambition. Wesker's destiny, which started in Raccoon City, had finally come to an end.
The world was saved from the brink of destruction and witnessed a fresh dawn. Its six billion inhabitants were none the wiser with almost no one knowing Chris had fought off a terrifying storm that almost forged the final night, as he fought to the death.
However, Sheva was in his wings fighting out of a belief in good. Even after being taken to the realm of the enemy, Jill had finally returned to him. Smiles returned by comrades--- there was value in winning, even if just for that. There was a reason for continuing the world they belonged to.
"Someday, the world may learn how to avoid destruction. Until then, I'll defend it, as many times as it takes."
The heroes shut their eyes and rest, in order to be ready for the next battle against evil...
