THE EXPERIMENT is a mission-based trial mode in BIOHAZARD UMBRELLA CORPS which acts as a background story to the game.

DEADLY EXPERIMENT
Mar 12, 2012
Abraham Jackson
The experiment has resumed at last.
I've been eagerly awaiting this day for so long!
Up first is an abandoned Umbrella lab.
The interior's filled with what's left of the researchers.
Ravenous Zombies are expecting you.
Survive by making good use of what you've been provided.
Picking up herbs will instantly recover you. Betray my expectations.
Somehow you've survived... Now increasing difficulty, according to procedure.
Test Subject 3A7, if you fail, you die.
I'd lose my chance to succeed.
You and me, we're practically inseparable.
SPICING THINGS UP
Mar. 13, 2012
Abraham Jackson
Half a year ago, our test subject survival rate was so low Honker on the inquiry board questioned the experiment's merits.
We won't make the same mistake this time...
We'll take our chances with the first factor I've prepared, the PDW.
t-Virus environments are too severe for humans.
Therefore, we'll provide weapons step-by-step.
That's the key to mastery.
As expected, the PDW's rapid-fire increases the odds of survival.
But I wonder what'll happen if I make the environment even harsher?
My curiosity is insatiable.
VIRTUE OF THE SHOTGUN
Mar 14, 2012
Abraham Jackson
In the BSAA combat manual, it says shotguns with a wide range of firepower are more advantageous against carriers than high-precision firearms, but I think we need to re-evaluate them.
I've arranged a shotgun this time.
It's noteworthy how the shotgun produces different data.
I think the shotgun's effectiveness at close range has been demonstrated after all.
The next step is to test the true capabilities of the subject themselves.
THE SUBJECT'S POTENTIAL
Mar. 16, 2012
Abraham Jackson
I expected a merc to pass through the experiment to this point.
But it won't be so easy here.
On the other hand, if you survive, we'll have demonstrated that Subject 3A7 is superior to some extent.
This is the so-called highest difficulty selection test.
Ammo's been cut... Use the Beil...
You can't survive without such flexibility.
New experiments have been permitted as a result.
I've decided to revise my impression toward the subject...
Him becoming a useful test subject means my own value goes up.
The next stage is a TRICELL facility that was attacked by bioterrorists.
REST FOR THE WEARY
Abraham Jackson
Mar. 2012
Never thought I'd hear you put in a request for combat.
Training for your life, I love that...
Since valuable combat data's available, you can dive into this facility until you're satisfied...
But don't die.
You're already bored out of your mind with this facility.
New trials await you.
HELL HOUNDS
Apr. 1, 2012
Abraham Jackson
Begin recording. Arrived at the Mediterranean island after approx. Twenty travel hours. Worst of all, Honker's here.
My political opponent on CQBZ, the guy stone-cold refuses to acknowledge it.
I don't know what's going to happen.
Particularly notable in this experiment is a bioterrorist souvenir, Cerberus.
They're swift, formidable foes with advanced hunting abilities.
Honker's trying his best to hide his fluster.
He suggested we alter the next mission.
Does he want to see how changes affect the survival rate?
Point is, he wants you to fail, y'know?
SECURE THE LOCATION
Apr. 3, 2012
Abraham Jackson
Honker has forced my hand into making changes to the mission.
Subject must remain to transfer information to base.
I'm concerned, the difficulty to succeeding has sky-rocketed.
Unlike conventional situations, this time you can use 180 degree turns to escape freely.
I've secretly increased the number of weapon placements.
Take notice.
Subject accomplished the mission to secure the sites without difficulty. The look on Honker's face in that moment!
The guy's gotten so worked up he told me to change the mission even further.
I've given him a condition in exchange.
We'll do it, but if he loses, we move on.
COLLECTION TRAINING
Apr. 4, 2012
Abraham Jackson
This is where we need to completely break Honker.
The guy's a B.O.W. fanatic and has only been trying to sabotage this experiment.
He's our common enemy.
Finish the mission! I'm counting on you, 3A7.
The final experiment on this island.
The terms are to collect top-secret items and, if completed, we'll take off for the next quarantine zone.
The organization has taken notice of your commendable results as well.
You're already too big for Honker to stop.
The next quarantine zone's a famous biohazard-stricken area.
I foresee encounters with new creatures. It's a researcher's dream.
TIDYING UP THE HOUSE
Apr. 2012
Abraham Jackson
I don't need to worry about you dying anymore.
My mind's already flying with experiment designs to conduct in the new site.
You can run as wild as you like here.
Completely exterminate the monsters.
Evidently, it seems I'll achieve the objective I was assigned.
The revival of the CQBZ Combat System.
Then once I do, my position will be unshakeable.
VILLAGE WHERE IT BEGAN
May 21, 2012
Abraham Jackson
This village is square one where the cult incident began.
However, the Plaga parasite avoided total extermination.
We can still conduct experiments thanks to that.
These Ganados are manipulated by the recessive Plaga, a weakened parasite.
They're not as tough as in the past but are more of a threat than Zombies.
Take care.
Having heard rumors about you, an influential individual from the top brass will be coming to the site next time as part of an inspection.
Rumor has it this person's extremely feared within the organization. That's disturbing... I wonder what sort of person they are.
SINGULARITY
May 22, 2012
Abraham Jackson
The man from the organization's top brass has come to observe.
Let's hope the experiment attracts their interest.
The recessive Plaga occasionally produces an abnormally tough Ganado by mutating.
Since it's a significant enemy, you should avoid direct confrontation.
The executive seems to have taken an interest in the subject who survived the mutated Ganado.
He asked a few questions but his expression never changed. I guess I should take the opportunity to pitch to him.
THE EXECUTIVE
May 23, 2012
Abraham Jackson
The executive's standing beside me, observing the experiment.
The man showed an unusual interest in this village.
He talks about the incident as if he was involved in it.
Who on earth is this guy?
The executive has requested classified data in situations with the mutated Ganado.
To make matters worse, we have lower stockpiles and need to reduce ammo.
The executive promised to move the experiment up.
At the same time, the man himself made it quite clear to me he's legendary, and effectively this experiment's proprietor.
Getting in this guy's good books will be a shortcut to success.
SCORCHED EARTH
Jun. 18, 2012
Abraham Jackson
That man's legendary and not afraid to emphasize it.
He tries to show off his power whenever the opportunity presents itself. That's why I have my doubts.
I could run a background check on him, if I were so inclined.
All I have to do is match up the DNA data slumbering in the organization's library.
The Plaga has once again infested the site of the TRICELL incident.
We'll collect battle stress data here with multiple missions.
It'll be a long fight.
Is this guy truly someone we should fear?
It's a question that won't leave me.
I'll figure it out in secret.
I've just obtained a strand of hair and...
THE VANISHED AND THE NEW
Jul. 6, 2012
Beatrice Bertrand
This experiment's chief researcher has mysteriously disappeared.
He was a truly useless guy.
It makes me even angrier to think I've been called away during from my vacation because of him.
I wanna deal with this experiment pronto and get back to tequila in the Caribbean.
There's a lotta wildlife in this place and the Plaga has parasitized African Wild Dogs.
These guys were dubbed Adjule.
You must be careful.
The guinea pig finished the experiment, totally unconcerned about the researcher being changed.
I was surreptitiously hoping this fuckwit would croak and the experiment would be over.
THE AFRICAN GATE
Jul. 8, 2012
Beatrice Bertrand
Concerning my predecessor's disappearance...
There are a bunch of rumors flying around, but I'm just doing my best to keep the experiment going.
Digging around is dangerous.
"Curiosity killed the cat", indeed.
Here's the final test.
It won't be so easy due to the mutant Majini showing up.
It'll depend on strength and luck.
The guinea pig broke through this barrier.
The experiment's moving to the next level. The route to the next area as well as its location are confidential.
We'll be put to sleep during transport.
I know this isn't exactly upstanding research, but where on earth could it possibly be?
BONUS LESSON
Jul. 2012
Beatrice Bertrand
Measuring Test Subject 3A7.
Truthfully, I'm not interested in what this bastard does.
The top brass are showing unusual interest in this experiment though.
I have no choice.
Additional mission in Kijuju District 12.
Try and see how many Majini you can kill quickly.
Even though it's of no interest to me, the subject's combat abilities are unbelievable.
It's like watching the U.S.S. in action.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Aug. 7, 2012
Beatrice Bertrand
When I awoke, I was in this place. A recreated Raccoon City. Zombies are still here.
What was this place built for?
Sticking my nose where it doesn't belong would be sniffing out death again.
I'll just conduct the experiment I've been given.
A town known the world over, which nobody can go to.
Little ammo's been supplied, as if to replicate the situation of those days.
Looks like this town's environment poses no threat to you either.
Rumor has it the Grim Reaper who advocated CQBZ also escaped from this town alive.
This could be that guy's second coming.
DEPENDABLE WEAPONS
Aug. 20, 2012
Beatrice Bertrand
Now that we've got a complete set of trial products from the firearms manufacturers, we'll test them out all at once.
These companies are also sponsoring this experiment, so we can't necessarily just ignore them, can we?
Mega-change in policy, we've placed new weapons and ammo this time.
Wonder what influence the doggies we've introduced will have.
The weapons have been customized for CQBZ use and worked quite well.
The sponsors will be satisfied with this report, for now.
That way, they won't figure out this experiment's true purpose.
WALKING THREAT
Aug. 24, 2012
Beatrice Bertrand
This is a critical moment.
This experiment's introducing mutant Zombies.
These creepy things are capable of some pretty terrifying combat prowess.
I don't know if CQBZ will prevail...
This mission's virtually a direct confrontation between mutants and the subject.
Which will survive?
I'm getting hyped.
I can't believe it! The subject has survived.
I imagine the next experiment will shift to a very small area suitable for close quarters combat.
That's where we'll assess CQBZ's true value.
CONFINED STRUGGLE
Sep. 3, 2012
Beatrice Bertrand
There's really no place better suited for testing out CQBZ than here.
It's only a single room, packed with Zombies and shielding.
Let's test with fewer bullets first, shall we?
This hall's been recreated in wonderful quality as well.
It's a little different from the original R.P.D.
Anyway, Zombies are nearby, so do take care.
My boss called and told me my contract was up for renewal.
If the experiment succeeds, my contract deposit will be tripled and I'll be paid a special bonus.
I didn't think I'd have a chance to get ahead.
I wonder if this was luck... or...
ZOMBIE JAMMER
Sep. 15, 2012
Beatrice Bertrand
Lotsa noisy spectators today.
A group of engineers are observing, having been compelled by a certain pharmaceutical company.
That's to be expected. Since today's experiment is testing out a certain momentous achievement...
New equipment has been placed.
Carriers won't be able to sense you, for only a certain period of time.
If you can pick it up this Hell should be no trouble.
The Zombie Jammer, able to disable the infected's senses, has been completed.
However we've yet to verify its effects on the human body at all.
In any case, I could easily see it negatively affecting the human brain.
BEGINNING OF THE END
Oct. 13, 2012
Beatrice Bertrand
The situation has changed. My order is to "ensure 3A7 is killed in an experiment."
With the Zombie Jammer completed, there's no longer much point in this experiment.
On the contrary, soldiers that are too good would lower the value of another important product: "biological weapons."
That's why. I've got no choice.
The completed Zombie Jammer exerts its effect at all times.
However we don't intend to let you walk away alive.
The deployed mutant Zombies are immune to the jammer.
The final quarantine zone, the Antarctic Base, is a suitable last act.
The experiment was meant to have killed you!
Just who the hell are you?
I negotiated with my superiors and somehow managed to gain a second chance.
If I don't bury you next time, my life will be in danger.
THE FINAL BATTLE
Nov. 20, 2012
Beatrice Bertrand
Commencing experiment with 0% survival rate.
The experiment's objective is merely to demonstrate the menace of bioweapons.
There are factions who'd find it problematic if the creatures posed no threat.
So please, go drop dead.
Killing monsters has made you a monster yourself, 3A7.
But... this is the end of the line.
You should die here in Alexia's resting place!

Why won't you die?
