PROLOGUE
Beginning of The BIOHAZARD
Umbrella Pharmaceuticals. An international pharmaceutical company with several experiment plants and facilities all over the world, not to mention the United States. Behind its benevolent facade however, it experiments with the creation of B.O.W.'s (BIO ORGANIC WEAPONS) by modifying the genes of animals and humans using special viruses.
The incidents began in the Arklay Mountains in rural America, where in May 1998, the T-Virus being researched at Umbrella's experiment facility in the outskirts of Raccoon City leaked, and most of the laboratory workers and experiment animals were killed by the virus. Since then, there were many reports of monster sightings in the vicinity of the Arklay Mountains with large numbers of missing persons cases and bizarre incidents occurring. In July of the same year, after the mountain roads were closed, S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics and Rescue Service: a special ops unit of the Raccoon Police Department tasked with missions combating unusual crimes as well as rescuing people) was dispatched to the mansion where the laboratory was located in order to investigate and suppress the incident. However, Umbrella's research base had already been moved to the Raccoon City underground and the building had turned into a den of living dead workers and deformed test subjects. Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, and other officers of S.T.A.R.S. revealed the full extent of Umbrella's involvement in the biological disaster. In order to get to the bottom of the case, Chris traveled to Umbrella's European branch to investigate the true situation.
In August 1998, the Umbrella research facility had moved to a new location underneath Raccoon City, where a genius scientist named William Birkin was developing the new G-Virus which was completely different from the T-Virus. A conflict between William and Umbrella over his seeking a high position at Umbrella caused the virus to leak into the underground waterways, turning most of the citizens into Zombies. Shortly afterwards, Claire Redfield came to Raccoon City in search of her disappeared brother Chris, alongside rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy who'd just arrived at the Raccoon Police Department. However, Raccoon City no longer smelled of the living and had turned into a city of the dead where noise and chaos could be heard both in the wind and the cries of the dead. Claire and her friends narrowly eluded oncoming B.O.W.'s and succeeded in escaping Raccoon City.
At the same time, Jill was investigating the bio-disaster in Raccoon City and also attempted to escape from the virus-infested Raccoon City. However, she was persistently targeted by the Nemesis-T Type, a fearsome assassin deployed by Umbrella who feared the incident being leaked. The new B.O.W. Nemesis-T Type differs from previous B.O.W.'s which act only on instinct, in that it can be made to act in accordance with objectives via controlling its brain. Also, by covering its entire body with a bulletproof, bombproof coat, it has become the most powerful bioweapon. In order to collect valuable samples of live combat data, Umbrella deployed its own U.B.C.S. (Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service: an irregular unit formed by the Umbrella Corporation in anticipation of unforeseen circumstances). Jill, along with U.B.C.S. personnel, successfully fought off oncoming B.O.W.'s along with the Nemesis-T Type, then managed to escape Raccoon City. However, the U.S. Government, intent on covering up the fact bioweapons had been developed, launched a missile attack under the guise of preventing damage caused by the spread of an epidemic of unknown origin, wiping Raccoon City from the face of the earth along with the darkside of the incident.
In December 1998, Claire attempts to infiltrate the Paris branch of Umbrella Pharmaceuticals by herself in order to track down her brother. However, she's captured by security chief Rodrigo Juan Raval and imprisoned on Rockfort Island, an isolated island in a South American archipelago. The island's home to an Umbrella base, a training facility for their irregular military forces, and a prison for those who know Umbrella's secrets. On the very day Claire's imprisoned, Rockfort Island's raided by a mysterious organization and a virus spreads throughout the island. She's freed by Rodrigo and evades the attacking prisoners and workers, who've been turned by the virus into ferocious B.O.W.'s. The outside of the prison's full of hordes of the living dead wandering around in search of flesh and blood. She joins Steve Burnside, another prisoner, in an attempt to escape from the dead-infested Rockfort Island. Chris learns of his sister's predicament from Leon, who survived Raccoon City with Claire, and heads for Rockfort Island where Umbrella and B.O.W.'s await him.

CHARACTERS
Claire Redfield
A college student who steps into danger to track down her missing brother, Chris Redfield, after he leaves the Mansion Incident in Raccoon City. She's usually cheerful and curious, but due to her brother's influence, that of a special forces officer, she's well versed in close combat as well as firearms and survived the biohazard in Raccoon City. She was captured at the Paris branch of the Umbrella pharmaceutical company and taken to a prison hidden on a remote island in the South Seas.
Steve Burnside
A young boy who, like Claire, was being held captive on Rockfort Island. While the base is in turmoil due to an attack by a mysterious organization, he escapes from his cell and joins Claire, whom he meets on the base. When he first meets Claire, he's a younger daredevil boy, but as he works with her in critical situations, he grows into a man. While he has a blind faith in firearms, he also has a side to him that doesn't fully trust people, especially relatives, and he has an abnormal dislike for them.
Rodrigo Juan Raval
With tanned skin and a toned body, he's captain of the security team at Umbrella's Paris Laboratory. At the Paris Laboratory, he succeeded in taking custody of Claire while she was fighting a large number of security guards, then escorted her to Umbrella's base on Rockfort Island. Shortly after Claire's taken into custody, the base is decimated by an attack from a mysterious organization, which renders holding her captive meaningless, so he releases her. Note that Rodrigo can only be used in DUNGEON MODE.
Chris Redfield
A former officer of S.T.A.R.S. who survived the Mansion Incident in Raccoon City and escaped from the corrupt police force. He was on a flight to Europe to investigate Umbrella, but when he learned his sister, Claire, had been captured by Umbrella, he risked his own life to infiltrate Rockfort Island. With a tough body, strong mind, and powerful sense of justice, Chris can only be used in DUNGEON MODE.
Alfred Ashford
The seventh head of the Ashford family, one of the most prestigious aristocratic families in the world. Although he appears to be working as the supreme commander of the Umbrella base on Rockfort Island, he's striving hard to revive the Ashford family, which fell in his father's generation, but not achieving the results he expects. He's mentally unstable and his words, actions, and behavior are all out of sound mind, which may be the reason for his cruelty towards captive prisoners.
Alexia Ashford
She's the twin sister of Alfred, said to be the reincarnation of the first generation head of the great Ashford family, Veronica, who established a firm position for the family with her natural beauty and intelligence. She has been in a state of suspended animation for a long time in order to acclimate her body to the new virus strain T-Veronica, which she administered to herself for an experiment.
Albert Wesker
He used to be the Captain of S.T.A.R.S. alongside Chris and others, but in reality, he was an agent sent by Umbrella to place S.T.A.R.S. under their command. At the time of the Mansion Incident in Raccoon City, he used S.T.A.R.S. to collect live combat data on B.O.W.'s. However, his mission failed due to resistance by Chris and others, and he himself lost his life. A short time later, he leads a mysterious organization (H.C.F.) to attack Rockfort Island.

EPILOGUE
After The "CODE:Veronica"
In "GUN SURVIVOR 2 BIOHAZARD CODE:Veronica", there's a lot of foreshadowing in the background of the main scenario. The SECRET REPORT, which can be accessed by finding the keywords hidden in each STAGE, contains important information to help you understand this background. If you're new to the "BIOHAZARD" series, or even if you've been playing through the series for a while, you'll want to read through these reports to get a better understanding of what's going on in "CODE:Veronica."
REPORT1
CHIEF WARDEN'S DIARY
In a diary written by the warden of the prison on Rockfort Island, he describes how the giant spider that appears as the boss of STAGE 1 of ARCADE MODE was born.
The spider = Neticia mentioned as being found in the cell was probably a sample in a B.O.W. experiment that got lost in the cell. This spider's a Black Widow, found throughout Central and South America, feared for its neurotoxin and said to be one of the three most poisonous spiders in the world.
In the end, the H.C.F. unit's raid turned Rockfort Island into a biohazard, but if it hadn't been for this raid, Rockfort Island might've become a feeding ground for Neticia.
REPORT2
LETTER FROM UMBRELLA SURVEILLANCE BODY TO ROCKFORT ISLAND COMMANDER
In a document sent to Alfred Ashford, commander of Rockfort Island, there's mention of the existence of H.C.F., an organization hostile to Umbrella. The "man" mentioned in this text is presumed to be Albert Wesker, who used to work for Umbrella. However, Wesker's now on the H.C.F.'s side in a hostile position to Umbrella.
From the letter, it's assumed the Nemesis-T Type was prepared in the event of some sort of sabotage by H.C.F., but the current situation appears to have caused it to activate. However, the fact it relentlessly pursues Claire and Steve suggests it was probably ordered to dispose of people unaffiliated with Umbrella.
REPORT3
A NAMELESS PRISONER'S LAST WORDS SCRAWLED ON A TRAINING FACILITY WALL
The message carved into the wall of the training facility was a final message written by a man who'd once worked for Umbrella, to his son. This man happened to have obtained information about B.O.W.'s and planned to use it to make a lot of money. For his petty greed, his wife was shot and killed by Umbrella, and his son was imprisoned in the prison on Rockfort Island.
The man was also captured, taken to Rockfort Island and infected with a virus, and he realized what was going to happen to him. He apologizes to his son who's also imprisoned on Rockfort Island, and whom he'll never see alive, offering him hope to survive. Perhaps the man's true intentions got through to his son...
REPORT4
MYSTERIOUS ENCRYPTED EMAIL
It's highly likely this email was sent by Wesker to the headquarters of H.C.F. which advanced a top-secret mission on Rockfort Island. Wesker led the H.C.F. special ops unit to assault Rockfort Island and steal T-Veronica, a new kind of virus secretly developed by Umbrella. However, even an Enhanced Hunter platoon, a stolen B.O.W. with further improvements, is totally powerless in the face of Alexia infected with T-Veronica, resulting in devastating damage.
Alexia's first form appears in this game and the second and third forms appear depending on the situation in the original, increasing in combat prowess. In addition, Wesker himself also encountered Alexia during the mission and fought for a short time.
REPORT5
CLAIRE'S MONOLOGUE
In this game, the story ends with escaping from Rockfort Island, but in the original, the stage moves to a secret base owned by the Ashford family in Antarctica. There she has to say a sorrowful farewell to Steve...
However, these events are only one of many possibilities, and depending on the timing and circumstances, there's a good chance the consequences would be different in some cases. Eventually, Claire awakens from her nightmare, which feels very real, and she must live with the reality of what's to come.
Whether the nightmare she's been having's really a dream, or whether the reality in which she's safe is truly reality, she has no way of knowing, but she can say this. By choosing a different path, she could triumph over fate...
