Background
On August 16th 2019 Capcom announced via special invitation emails their latest attraction "Biohazard The Extreme". The attraction is a real life reproduction of Biohazard RE:2 appearing as a central part of the limited Halloween Horror Nights themed attractions at Universal Studios Osaka Japan. The Extreme was built inside the Palace Theater same location as Biohazard The Real. One hundred Club 96 members received this special invite to attend the attractions “Preview Event” including competition winners along with press and media related parties. All part of an exclusive pre launch celebration for the event on September 5th 2019 with the attraction opening to the public the following day on September 6th and the closing date of November 4th. The attraction had an age restriction of 12+.
The Extreme was overseen by Biohazard RE:2’s producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi who attended the preview event. Biohazard The Extreme is a 15 minute maze like experience where you have to escape the R.P.D. and laboratory while solving puzzles and avoiding/combating zombies and BOWs. It is possible to fail this attraction if you do not manage to successfully navigate the events you will receive a game over and in typical Biohazard attraction style it is said to be difficult to finish.

Walkthrough
(Thanks to Amonrada’s World and Yukendoit for uploading their experiences, I highly recommend watching this video so you can see the attraction for yourself.)
You play the role of part of a group of 10 survivors who have been left behind in the horrors of Raccoon City during the events of Biohazard 2. There are two routes you can experience Leon and Claire. Regardless of your choice of route both have their own variety of changes so you would need to experience both routes to get the full experience. Your goal is to escape the station while following the instructions of a guide.
The attraction begins at the R.P.D. entrance where you can hear zombies moaning in the distance.

The attraction begins at the R.P.D. entrance where you can hear zombies moaning in the distance.
An R.P.D. officer joins the group and gives an introduction to everyone, this officer plays the role of your guide.
After the introduction you are rushed inside the R.P.D. station while avoiding zombies that begin appearing one by one. The zombie costumes were designed to match that seen in the video game. When inside the station you can spot nearby herbs and ammunition. The environments are said to be detailed with easter eggs for fans that can easily be missed due to all the ongoing action. While moving through the R.P.D. you are attacked at random times by zombies whose purpose is to jump scare you.
Leon’s route
You enter a dimly lit corridor with windows along the wall, here zombies stick their arms through and try to grab at people. The wall is decorated with missing persons posters and there are blood stains in various places.
After navigating through the dark corridors you come to a brief stop inside a square room zombies begin to enter and the guide hurries the group along.
Next you come to a corridor with panel windows, on the other side of the window the T-103 (Mr X) appears and tries to grab you through the window.
Leon arrives and opens fire using the upgraded Lightning Hawk. The Tyrant turns its attention to Leon and takes a swing at him, Leon ducks and escapes in the other direction he came from as you leave the area. You encounter a room with a locked metal door which has the Umbrella logo upon it. On the wall is a coloured keypad, you must interact with the keypad to unlock the door. However G-Birkin 1st form appears the guide gets between him and the player who is using the keypad. The door is unlocked and the group continues on leaving G-Birkin behind.
You end up inside the cable car, a researcher (possibly Annette) appears here with a sub machine. The researcher explains to the group how to use the machine gun as the cable car travels upwards through a tunnel (via a tv screen). You exit the cable car and exit into an area with mounted guns, infront of the guns is a large screen.

On the screen a Super Tyrant drops down as a timer countdown begins with one minute and thirty seconds remaining. The group opens fire on the digital Super Tyrant and after around 30 seconds the screen goes blank and the lights fade. When the lights come back on there is a Super Tyrant in costume inside the room. The researcher (or Annette) tells the group to run, they head through a small corridor and into another cable car heading back up through a tunnel depicted onscreen. The Super Tyrant causes the cable car to crash as the video ends there. Unsure if this is the end, the group died or the video just stopped recording here.
Claire’s Route
The opening is very similar if not identical to Leon’s. However after the dimly light corridor you arrive inside the S.T.A.R.S. office. On the wall is the logo and a large map of Raccoon City along with a nearby desk. Moving on into the same room where Leon encountered the Tyrant only this time it’s Claire, it plays out similarly only the Tyrant grabs Claire by the throat. She breaks free and fires upon him as the group moves on. Next is the area with the locked door and keypad, it is similar to Leon’s route only you encounter G-Birkin 2nd form. After opening the door and heading through a corridor there appears to be no cable car ride where you meet the researcher as you end up in the room with the mounted guns and large tv screen. You fire upon G-Birkin 3rd form, the laboratory seems to explode possibly the timer ran out or the players health as G-Birkin swings his claw at you while the screen is engulfed with flames. Unknown the outcome as the video ends here.
Additional note: I could not spot the Licker as advertised on the Official Website in any video footage however Yukendoit confirms it does appear in Leon’s route along with a further mutated G-Birkin.

Yoshiaki Hirabayashi Interview 1
――In the attractions, the world view of the game is reproduced in detail, what were important points of focus for you?
Hirabayashi: What was really good about making the attraction was that many of the people in charge on the USJ side liked the "Biohazard" series, and many of them have been involved with "Biohazard" attractions before. A main focus point was that we were particular about the details, with little deviation in the consciousness of "how much we are particular about". I also paid particular attention to the balance between the horror part and the enjoyment of the world view.
――I think that some people who enjoy attractions have never played the games. How do you promote the game to such people through attractions?
Hirabayashi: I think it's important for us to come into contact with the word "Biohazard" first. I hope the story spreads from there.
――There are two routes, do you have any recommendations?
Hirabayashi: In the game, it is the same as not giving superiority or inferiority to any of the two routes, and there is no superiority or inferiority in terms of the attraction. You can enjoy playing either one. Of course, those who enjoyed both will have more fun by combining the two.
--thank you.

Yoshiaki Hirabayashi Interview 2
-It was interesting that the game was faithfully reproduced. Are there any points you were particular about?
Hirabayashi - Universal Studios Japan has been indebted to us at the "Biohazard" attraction before, and it was the same team and modeling staff as the last time, so we were very happy to work with Universal Studios Japan. I often proceeded with the feeling of "Thank you! OK!". I think it was good to be able to mix the horror part and also the action part where you can finish it comfortably with a gun.
――Are there any recommended routes or elements that are on one side but not on the other?
Hirabayashi - This is the same as in the game, there is no key difference between Leon route and Claire route. The most important thing I paid attention to when creating the attraction this time was to make it so that you can enjoy it no matter which one you play, so I included this with Universal Studios Japan. However, since there are different routes, there are some differences between them, but if you experience either one, you will still be able to fully enjoy this attraction.
――It's not like you divided by difficulty level.
Hirabayashi - There's no difference in difficulty. Since the game has two routes, Universal Studios Japan came up with the idea of wanting to do it with two routes. We talked about the characteristics of each route with the feeling that "Let's put this in Leon’s route" and "This is for Claire route." Both routes have their own characteristics.
――I experienced both routes, but I had game over in both. Could you give me some hints on how to complete it?
Hirabayashi - The difficulty level was set quite high. I can't give you a hint, but there are some ways to complete it, so I'd like you to do your best to find those.
――I think this attraction will be a part of getting you to experience the world of "Biohazard" besides playing games at home. How would you like to connect to game sales from here?
Hirabayashi - Basically, we're not thinking about linking it to game sales. I think it's fine if you just get in touch with the word "Biohazard". From there, I wanted to spread the series so that "actually there are attractions," or "there are movies." Since the franchise has grown to this point, I hope more customers will enjoy it, including how to enjoy it, when it's not a game.
――The other day, you announced a new project called "PROJECT RESISTANCE". Could you tell us what kind of project it is, as far as you can answer?
Hirabayashi - The first answer's that I'm not a producer (laughs). So I can't talk to you. However, it seems a teaser video will appear at the Tokyo Game Show 2019, so please look forward to that.
