KEYWORDS OF biohazard
S.T.A.R.S.
A special operations unit under the jurisdiction of the Raccoon Police Department (R.P.D.). Abbreviation of "Special Tactics and Rescue Service" meaning "a unit for the purpose of special tactics and aid." It was founded in 1996 while Raccoon City achieved rapid development in order to deal with an increase in urban terrorism and diversifying crime (terrorism using biological and chemical weapons, new kinds of narcotics, hacking activities).
The significance of S.T.A.R.S.' establishment was to supplement portions the conventional police force can't cater to. Therefore, convocation of skilled personnel with the ability to respond immediately to new crime was a pressing need and recruitment was actively carried out seeking experts in various fields regardless of gender, age or personal history. In addition, upon its establishment, local private companies funded it as part of an urban project of the city. The giant corporation Umbrella that contributed heavily to the city's development took the lead and contributed half the amount of established funding aid.
These abundant funds enabled advanced equipment, a widespread intelligence network and acquisition of excellent and talented personnel. Moreover, the establishment circumstances of an elite group of ability-oriented individuals backed by private enterprises makes S.T.A.R.S. different from public institutions such as normal police.
Raccoon City
An industrial town located in the midwestern United States. It was once a small town but achieved rapid growth through the opportunity of attracting a factory of the giant multinational corporation Umbrella. The people working in Umbrella and its subsidiaries increase year by year and approximately 30% of the population now participate in Umbrella.
The entire Arklay Mountains region spreads to the north of the city and has become a sight-seeing area with a beautiful lake and open forest where exploitation hasn't yet progressed.
Umbrella
A huge multinational corporation that uses a pharmaceutical konzern as the parent organization. Established 1968. The head office is in Europe but it has branch offices all over the world and above all it constructed a factory in Raccoon City that promoted the city's development, initially merely a single small-scale local town in the country. In addition, since Umbrella usually offered a large amount of financial aid to Raccoon City used for city welfare, constructing public accommodation and maintaining public order, Umbrella now serves as an indispensable existence for Raccoon City.
The company name and logo signify an "umbrella" and express the company's policy "to protect the health of the people."
biohazard
A word that refers to biological situations and biological dangers that present a threat to mankind or the natural environment.

CHARACTERS OF biohazard
CHRIS REDFIELD (p.008-009)
A man who should be called the ace of S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team. He's a man of firm character who hates corruption and is willing to disobey orders for his beliefs. He once belonged to the U.S. Air Force but was discharged based on conflicts of opinion with his superiors. He's close with Barry, a teammate from his Air Force days, and the pair have also worked on many missions in S.T.A.R.S. and displayed great success together.
He boasts a tough body undaunted by wounds and is also skilled in firearms handling, and his skill in marksmanship's second to none within S.T.A.R.S. While mentally very strong and rich in the ability to get things done, his mind also tends to get lost in details. He has a younger sister Claire and it seems like he always worries about her.
Weapon (Handgun)
A modified handgun, the Samurai Edge specially ordered for S.T.A.R.S. as Chris' personal gun, he requested the standard model be modified to his liking, but was forced to use the one left by Jill throughout the game.
Face/Hair Style
An old-fashioned military style far from the trend. Not a popular style with females, but Chris seems to be rugged and handsome.
Weapon (Knife)
The large survival knife he always wears is a favorite item from his time with the Air Force. Along with the huge knife holder on the left of his chest, it's a characteristic feature of Chris.
Skill
His marksmanship's precise. Has experience winning titles in numerous contests.
Arms
Muscular arms that tell you about his physicality.
Vest
Armor vest with S.T.A.R.S. logo on the back. Sides are adjusted by braiding them with a string. Although it's a military unit-type equipment, details such as coloring differ depending on who wears it.
Pants
Thick cotton pants are the traditional S.T.A.R.S. type. However, only Chris has pads on his knees.
Defensive Item
The defense items (dagger knife and flash grenade) you discover and equip are attached to the left side of the belt.
Vest
A fastener's used for the opening and closing part. In normal clothes, the S.T.A.R.S. logo on the back's casually placed on the right chest, and a large medallion's printed on the back. The side's adjusted with a belt.
Special Costume
A new model of S.T.A.R.S. uniform and the same as the one in "BIOHAZARD CODE:Veronica." Compared to the normal costume, the details on the armor and vest are different.
Shirt Suit
Khaki-colored, suit-like shirt. A glimpse of the collar from the top's like a service from the developer to female fans.
Knife Holder
The knife holder, which has been a trademark of the ordinary clothes, is attached to the belt and placed behind the waist.
Total
Proven on the battlefield, Chris is a tough man who has passed through the frontlines facing fear wherever evil acts were carried out in order to maintain peace. The events we hear and see tell the truth of the horrifying experiments that've been repeated here in various ways: the truth becomes more radical as we approach the deepest depths.
If you're an ordinary person, you can't endure the fear of being attacked one after another by various creatures. Even if you get through it, you'll be terrified of what becomes apparent and end your life. However Chris, who carries the torch for justice, never stops. Instead of letting it defeat him, the fragments of truth, on the contrary, incite his anger to defeat evil. It becomes the fuel powering his body and keeps him searching for the truth.
JILL VALENTINE (p.012-013)
Only woman of S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team, has experienced a U.S. Army Delta Force (counterterrorist force) training program. Expert in bomb disposal with general knowledge regarding chemical/drug matters.
Her reason for enlisting can be seen from her words "I can't let evil get away with threatening civilians," she has very strong senses of justice and responsibility and questions without hesitation to the point of absurdity and will hold on for the sake of the truth, even if denied. If anything, she has a rather impulsive disposition but conducts herself calmly during missions and has saved her teams a number of times with precise judgments. Since she also doesn't complain in emergencies she tends to be viewed as a courageous person, but it's believed she feigns strength in no small measure.
Beret
The beret contains the S.T.A.R.S. patch and is Jill’s trademark.
Face/Hair Style
Her big eyes with a bright shine are impressive. Her hair's cut straight and down to the length of the jaw to avoid getting stuck in a mission.
Shoulder Pads
Pads on both shoulders that can be a bit too heavy for a delicate body. The support suspenders hang just below the chest, which highlights Jill's style.
Weapon (Grenade Launcher)
A grenade launcher, a heavy weapon carried by the Bravo Team’s member Forest, it can be found during the middle of the search through the Mansion. It's a powerful weapon, greatly augmenting Jill's defensive weaknesses.
Weapon (Knife)
Jill's personal survival knife's smaller than Chris' and a little less lethal.
Skill 1
She's very manually dexterous and can easily open simple locks using a lockpick.
Skill 2
Her hobby's playing the piano. By using the score sheet she can play Beethoven's "Moonlight."
Weapon (Handgun)
Jill's often more likely to support the rear than be on the frontline, but has no shortage of shooting skills. Her favorite handgun was ordered separately from the standard Samurai Edge, a custom-built gun customized for her. It features a smaller slide than the standard model.
Hair Style
When the beret's taken off, her hair style's fresh.
Top
Vibrant sky blue tube top. Like a skirt, it fits the body tightly and doesn't interfere with her actions.
Cardigan
An off-white cardigan casually wrapped around the waist's the key to tightening the overall outfit.
Skirt
A dynamic tight skirt with accented bottom trim. Although it has dark coloring, it's exciting that the length's more than 20cm above the knee.
Side Pack
Equipped with the side pack obtained in the middle of the scenario in "BIO3", however this time it’s attached by default. There's one magazine pouch at the front and two multi-function pouches at the rear, and this time it also comes with a storage hook for defense items. The suspenders cross into the pack.
Special Costume
Normal costume in "BIOHAZARD3". A casual costume, but highly exposed and sexy.
Total
Even in a strange enclosed space where tragedies mount up, Jill manages to use even heavy weapons skillfully and overcomes difficulties one after another. At first glance, one may feel her gender gives her a handicap in such circumstances but you could describe her in terms like "a woman who's tougher than a man." However, such perceptions aren't always the case. When she witnesses the horrible death of a friend, she's the only one in the moment when she sees the Zombies attacking to allow the impatience, anxiety and fear come to fruition. And that's probably an essential element that forms Jill Valentine's appeal.
REBECCA CHAMBERS (p.014-015)
A rookie officer who just joined S.T.A.R.S. this year and is on her first deployment on a mission. She's in charge of Bravo Team's medical needs. She's hard to imagine in a military unit from her 18-year-old youth and appearance and behavior retaining some childishness, but she's a prodigy who has already finished her bachelor's degree in college and was appointed to S.T.A.R.S. for her prominent chemistry-related knowledge.
Face/Hair Style
A lovely face with innocence. A clean, boy-like haircut suits her well.
Skill 1
Utilizing her own chemistry knowledge, she can instantly mix locally-procured drugs and use them for treatment and offense. Rebecca's talent is a real saver for Chris, who has no knowledge of chemistry.
Skill 2
Although she has knowledge of piano, her skill is...
Handgun
All the S.T.A.R.S. members' eight guns are Samurai Edge, but only Rebecca's actually using the supplied standard model as it is.
Choker
It has the same red color as the first aid symbol and is in good design as a whole. Fashionable for emergencies?
Gesture
It seems she has a habit of resting her head on her hand when she's idle.
Vest
Bulletproof vest with matching emergency pack on the back. At first glance, it's casual equipment, but saves her life in some aspects of this case.
Sub Pack
A subpack with an emergency symbol around the back of the waist. It seems to be her favorite item.
Pants
They have the same style as the other members, but a thinner quality because it rolls up the hem.
Special Costume
The theme's "Western". The amount of exposure enhances Rebecca's lively aura rather than sexiness.
Scarf
The mini pink scarf has a cowboy knot according to the concept.
Hat
Cowgirl hat to complete the attire. By the way, it doesn't appear in the game.
Shirt
The fringe, which is used abundantly on the chest, is in a Western style. The belly button visible from the tied hem's cute.
Belt, Buckle, Pieces, etc
Silver and turquoise, which is the basis of Western fashion, are used in key points.
Boots
Semi-long boots with embossed pattern. Youthful design with plenty of leg cover's perfect for Rebecca.
Pants
Mini denim pants with a bold trim that cuts off the hem. A key point's the holster attached to the bare leg.
Total
Rebecca was suddenly thrust into a harsh survival situation from her first mission. Given her overwhelming lack of experience and modest behavior, she shouldn't have survived, but she did.
One of the reasons for this is that her specialized knowledge of chemistry fits perfectly into this case. The mansion which is the stage was full of medicinal products only for pharmaceutical companies, and Rebecca was able to fully demonstrate her special ability to immediately mix drugs according to the situation.
It's also beneficial she was able to join the reliable Chris as soon as possible. And, for the sake of him and others, the innocence and diligence of putting all his might into protecting her from danger, as a result, helped maintain her safety. Many of these factors ultimately make the rookie "Bravo Team's only survivor."
BARRY BURTON (p.016)
A veteran in Alpha Team who has abundant firearms-related knowledge. He's originally from S.W.A.T. (Special Weapons and Tactics Team) and Chris has been his good buddy for a long time. He's in charge of maintaining and replenishing the unit's firearms and in private is also known as a gun-nut. At home he's a good husband and father who deeply loves his two daughters Moira and Polly.
He's a heavy-looking and very dependable man. He's especially well-trusted among the members and always thinks about his unit with an intense sense of responsibility. He's a hot-blooded man who loves justice and despises evil and could be said to be an ideal person for a S.T.A.R.S. officer who protects the safety of civilians. Even in this mission leading to investigating the truth of the murder cases, he's sure to lay bare his exceptional fighting spirit...
Face
A heavily rounded face. In the game, it often shows a worried expression.
Vest
The color red's Barry's trademark color.
Photo
His deep affection for his wife and children can be seen in the fact he carries around a family photo. When Barry mentions his daughters, Barry's face is one of concerned fathers everywhere.
Body
Although he's only middle-aged with a slightly large body, he doesn't appear overweight.
Magnum
Barry's "buddy", a magnum recognized by himself and others, is 44 magnum. It's usually housed in a leather holster suspended on the chest.
Handgun
Although not used in the main story, Barry also has a Samurai Edge. It's a personalized version of the Samurai Edge, and can be used by Jill and Chris if they meet certain conditions in the game.
Total
Shortly before leaving for this mission, Barry was worried about a certain problem. A drive which makes him more reliable than anyone else, strange and suspicious behaviors where his words and actions don't match. A deep love for his family, a feeling of companionship, and a strong sense of justice. Having these commitments, Barry suffers emotionally. What on earth's compelling him to do so? And what path will he finally choose...?
ALBERT WESKER (p.017)
The quiet, calm and composed Captain of S.T.A.R.S. Also serves as leader of Alpha Team. At the time of the unit's establishment, he was appointed Captain through the recommendation of Umbrella Corp. which invested the most among the private sponsor companies. He wasn't originally a police officer but there are no clues looking through his past, except that he has a profound knowledge of bioengineering.
He's a perfectionist who makes no mistakes and possesses sharp insight with outstanding judgement respected by those around him. He has dignity and style appropriate for someone at the top, but since he doesn't show emotion, he has an undeniably cold and impersonal image. He has an unapproachable air and is also a mysterious person.
Face
An unbreakable expression even under the most severe circumstances. It's extremely difficult to read his sentiments because his eyes are hidden by sunglasses.
Sunglasses
Sunglasses worn day and night are Wesker's trademark.
Shirt
Only Wesker wears an open-collar shirt under the vest.
Handgun
As with Barry etc, he uses a Samurai Edge with his own improvements. Although he usually uses his brain power, his shooting skills are good.
Vest/Pants
Even in casual mode, Wesker wears the same clothes...
Accessory
They're a military unit, but the equipment's rather luxurious compared to other squadsmen, and it seems he uses another radio and is in contact besides Chris and Jill.
Total
Although Wesker's one of the most mysterious since the time he took office as Captain, his skilled work left no room for extra consideration from the members. Bravo Team's helicopter disappearance, his subordinate Joseph's gruesome death. He seemed, as usual, to be a perfectionist, the most appropriate judgment in the situation. No, it was, in fact, a good judgment. In his own "plan"... No one knows what kind of thoughts are reflected by his eyes shining behind his sunglasses.
The Others (p.018)
[The Other S.T.A.R.S. Members]
S.T.A.R.S. Officer List Alpha Team
Joseph Frost
Age: 27
Blood Type: B
Height: 179cm
Weight: 72.3kg
In charge of maintenance. The bandana on his head's his trademark. Although he's a cheerful mood-maker, he's hot-blooded and belligerent and tends to be impulsively reckless. At this time, while taking the lead on the search for Bravo Team in the forest area, he was suddenly attacked by a Cerberus pack and became Alpha Team's first victim.
Brad Vickers
Age: 35
Blood Type: O
Height: 174cm
Weight: 60.8kg
Chemical defense officer. Though he's in a position to oppose crime, he's a coward lacking a sense of responsibility. This time he was piloting the team's helicopter but was frightened by the nearby tragedy and fled alone, creating the circumstances that forced Chris and the others to escape to the mansion. After being tormented by a crisis of conscience he attempted to communicate with his colleagues many times afterwards.
S.T.A.R.S. Officer List Bravo Team
Enrico Marini
Age: 41
Blood Type: O
Height: 190cm
Weight: 83.0kg
A man who concurrently serves as S.T.A.R.S. Vice-Captain and Captain of Bravo Team. He's popular among the members because of his experience and temperament, and although he was supposed to serve as Captain originally, it was a sponsor company's intention to hand the seat over to Wesker. He quickly deduced the truth of this case and was going to tell somebody, but...
Kenneth J. Sullivan
Age: 45
Blood Type: O
Height: 188cm
Weight: 96.8kg
The oldest veteran member of S.T.A.R.S. He appears stern and of few words but has a gentle personality. He handled the dangerous duties of reconnaissance and securing positions, with his capabilities renowned by everyone. However he couldn't cope with the abnormal situation this time and was attacked and killed by a Zombie after Chris and the others arrived at the mansion.
Richard Aiken
Age: 23
Blood Type: AB
Height: 172cm
Weight: 62.5kg
A bright and cheerful young man with a constant smile. He's highly valued not only for combat but also communication skills. He was well known for taking care of rookies and was one of the team's youngest. In the mansion, he meets Chris etc. in a dying state after being bitten by a large snake.
Forest Speyer
Age: 29
Blood Type: A
Height: 183cm
Weight: 71.1kg
In charge of maintenance. A friend of Chris and Jill from before joining. He has firm pride in his mission and earned a great deal of trust from his colleagues through his immaculate work. He's a master marksman on par with Chris and was able to handle heavy weapons the others couldn't, but he was discovered having become a horrifying corpse on the mansion terrace.
Edward Dewey
Age: 26
Blood Type: A
Height: 193cm
Weight: 112.1kg
A giant member of S.T.A.R.S. with a pilot license. His specialty's with rifles. He was confirmed up to the point he'd been dispatched as a member of Bravo Team to Raccoon Forest, but subsequent inquiries seem unlikely. It seems he probably became prey to a monster like Joseph and the others.
S.T.A.R.S. ACTIVITY RECORDS (p.033)
S.T.A.R.S. was devastated by the "Mansion Incident." Their progress is recorded here again.
S.T.A.R.S. ACTIVITIES
July 23rd
Bravo Team dispatched. Eliminated the next morning.
July 24th
Alpha Team dispatched. Discovered the crashed Bravo Team helicopter.
• Search for Bravo Team in a wooded area, attacked by a monster dog (Cerberus).
• Discovered Richard poisoned by Yawn.
• Enrico discovers there's a traitor within.
• Found the truth in the underground laboratory.
• Escaped with the helicopter.
Survivors (Chris, Jill, Rebecca, Barry, Brad).
VICTIMS FOUND AT THE TIME
[Kevin] (R.P.D. Exclusive Heli Pilot) Found in the helicopter of Bravo Team he was operating, he was discovered as a slaughtered corpse with something like the claw marks of a beast.
[Joseph Frost] (Alpha Team) While searching for the members of the Bravo Team with his comrades, he was attacked and killed by a pack of Cerberus.
[Kenneth J. Sullivan] (Bravo Team) Immediately after the Alpha Team arrived at the Mansion, a Zombie bites his throat in the T Room and kills him.
[Forest Speyer] (Bravo Team) On the terrace of the mansion, it's confirmed he died while sitting on a chair. The cause of death's unknown, but his body was shredded after an attack by Crows.
[Richard Aiken] (Bravo Team) Died as the venom treatment for Yawn wasn't given in time. Or died by being swallowed by Yawn or Neptune.
[Enrico Marini] (Bravo Team) In the basement of the courtyard, he was targeted by Wesker when he injured his leg and became trapped, he was killed by a bullet to the heart.
[Albert Wesker] (Alpha Team) Died at the hands of a B.O.W.
WESKER'S AMBITION
Albert Wesker, the head of the "Unit of Justice", was an Umbrella double agent. Umbrella had sent him inside the police to conduct intelligence operations for crisis management. Luring his men to the mansion to fight B.O.W.’s, collect experiment data, disguising it by pretending it to be an accident, destroying S.T.A.R.S.--- that's the task Umbrella assigned to Wesker in this case.
But Wesker didn't just follow their orders. As he tells Chris himself, he was secretly betraying Umbrella and trying to obtain the Tyrant he'd been ordered to dispose of, for his own goals.
As a result, he's ironically killed at the hands of his obsession. It's unknown why he ran into the above-mentioned actions.

S.T.A.R.S. ACTIVITIES

MONSTERS
ZOMBIE (p.057)
Things which were people whose genetic structure was altered as a result of being infected with the t-Virus. It's called a Zombie because its skin decomposes, intelligence is lost and it shows aspects just like a "living corpse." Many of the Zombies seen in this incident were things accidentally created due to an accident that leaked the virus, but it seems they were originally studied with the aim of producing them as weapons. They're driven by hunger and actively touch other creatures in search of flesh, so as a result they can efficiently spread the virus.
CRIMSON HEAD (p.060)
Among t-Virus mutant strains, there's a type that further alters a host's body, driving an action known as "V-ACT." Even if it incurs a fatal wound, a Zombie infected with this will only enter dormancy while it rebuilds body tissues, unless they're burned or the head's destroyed. Then the body springs back to life as the more ferocious and agile blood-red monster "Crimson Head." They attack enemies with incomparable agility using newly acquired sharp blade-like claws.
CERBERUS (p.062)
A Bio Organic Weapon (B.O.W.) for combat created by administering the t-Virus to the prominent Doberman breed as a military dog compatible species. Code No. MA-39. This "hellhound" was also one side to the bizarre murder cases which occurred and drove Chris and the others into the deadly mansion. Like the Zombies, epidermal decomposition's considerable but running ability and durability were strengthened markedly and the aggressiveness characterizing the host also increased. Its pack mentality remains and when it finds prey it begins attacking in waves with others to kill them.
MONSTER PLANT (p.064)
A plant cultivated in the mansion greenhouse absorbed virus contaminated water and mutated. All segments were enlarged under the virus' influence and its hardened epidermis nullified any shocks. Furthermore, its leafs and stems transformed and as soon as it senses an approaching creature, it swings them around like tentacles to remove them with savage beast-like aggression, as if it had a will so to speak. It's only a plant and can't walk on its own, but the scale of virus contamination would be immeasurable if it scattered its pollen.
CROW (p.065)
Wild crows which were also affected by the t-Virus themselves while pecking the flesh of t-Virus victims. Although there's apparently no great difference from other normal crows which inhabit Raccoon Forest, extraordinariness can be observed in it becoming violent, attacking living things indiscriminately and not being shaken by gunshots at all.
Although it was produced irregularly, the dangers of secondary t-Virus infection are expected at the laboratory and there's even a point of calculation that these creatures spread virus contamination.
ADDER (p.066)
A small venomous snake commonly called an adder which mutated with increased aggressiveness due to secondary infection of the t-Virus. An abnormality in their breeding ability resulted and their numbers continued to increase explosively, then a red-brown variant species with worse venom started to appear.
They prefer to live near water and attack in groups from high places as soon as they sense a creature's temperature. Their bite's fraught with the risk of injecting the virus in addition to their natural hemorrhagic venom.
WEB SPINNER (p.068)
A kind of B.O.W. made during early experiments based on insects. The development name means "spinner of webs", a characteristic of a spider which was the base organism, however this mysterious creature itself cannot spin webs and performs direct hunting with intensely acidic venom, because it became gigantic under the influence of the virus. Its offensive ability as a weapon's low, but it seems to have been considered as an intermediary weapon due to the unique mobility of spiders to walk along outer walls and ceilings, which allows it to disperse the virus in a variety of locations.
WASP (p.070)
Bees secondarily infected by preying on insects that were affected by the t-Virus. The virus' influence shows as it became gigantic in size, but it could be said its true terror's the possibility of explosively extending virus contamination by spawning in large quantities. They flourished reproducing in a corner of the dormitory and attack as soon as they discover creatures near their hive, sticking their tailpiece needle into them and injecting venom along with the t-Virus. Moreover, unusual gigantic growth was achieved among the Wasps and an individual with increased killing power also exists.
HUNTER (p.071)
A combat type B.O.W. based on humans that was created by adding the genetic information of other creatures, administering the t-Virus and altering its gene structure. Code No.'s MA-121. It was developed based on a concept intent on creating an organism that could combat enemies with anti-viral equipment and defensive measures. With the intelligence to understand and execute simple commands, it's characterized with phenomenal agility and jumping ability and can close-in on targets at high speed to cut down their lives, surely deserving the name of "hunter." The surface of its body resembles reptiles and causes the beholder to experience a physiological feeling of repulsion.
CHIMERA (p.074)
A human-based B.O.W. created due to an insane experiment that incorporated the genes of a fly into the base organism then forcibly merged both species using the mutation properties of the t-Virus. The name originates from the artificial beast Chimera which appears in Greek mythology. Although it's fundamentally a human type, characteristics of the fly remain all over as it relentlessly crawls while making bizarre sounds, while countless maggots vividly crawl inside the body. Its intelligence is about the average of a fly and it can only perform monotonous attacks, but the psychological damage it deals to enemies is unfathomable.
YAWN (p.076)
After a venomous snake used as a test subject for B.O.W. development managed to escape from the laboratory, it suffered the influence of the t-Virus that began to leak in an accident and achieved abnormal growth to a size far beyond imagination. Its length's short in spite of its thickness with undeniable imbalance. Its fangs are equipped a deadly venom which can't be counteracted by an ordinary antidote, and if suitable treatment isn't immediately performed, death results in mere minutes.
CRIMSON HEAD PROTOTYPE 1 (p.078)
The original Crimson Head gave the researchers the opportunity to notice the "V-ACT" process and the existence of a virus that came with it. Prototype 1 was created using that particular t-Virus strain, the effects of which created this Crimson Head possessing vitality and combat skills far exceeding those of regular ones, and after that it underwent cultivated production. An analysis is considered impossible as it's so aggressive it instantly slaughters all surrounding people. It's still a valuable sample however, so it was sealed to examine and research it someday.
LISA TREVOR (p.080)
A test subject exposed to a mutant strain of the Progenitor Virus which resulted in the foundation of the t-Virus. She was confined for about 30 years since the launch of the "t-Virus Project" and was a rare being that sustained herself while being subjected to human experiments. As a result of having received the virus for every experiment over a long time, she obtained a disposition one might call immortal and produced the opportunity to discover the new virus "G." She was supposed to have been disposed of after extracting virus samples since she exhibited strikingly bizarre behavior, such as skinning people and wearing them, but she stayed alive and wandered around the vicinity of the mansion clad in restraints.
NEPTUNE (p.083)
A shark-based B.O.W., Code No. FI-03. Generally, marine type bioweapons were said to have low military effectiveness, but the development intention of Neptune wasn't to achieve results as a combat weapon, but to measure whether the t-Virus can also adapt to genes besides land creatures. One subject boasts a large frame far exceeding its base body and there are two smaller ones that exist, still believed to be growing. The adult boasts invincibility underwater, as the name "King of the Sea" indicates, but is nearly helpless on land.
PLANT 42 (p.085)
A mysterious plant documented at Observation Point 42, an abnormally grown monster plant so-to-speak. Although it was a byproduct caused by the t-Virus outbreak accident, its ecology exceeded common sense and drew the interest of a researcher who conducted detailed observation. It became large enough to go through two levels of the dormitory and establish tentacle-like feelers inside the building to capture prey and drain blood for nourishment. It also appears to possess intelligence in its own way and elaborately for self-defense, unfailingly eliminating foreign intruders.
BLACK TIGER (p.088)
A mutation occurred in one of the disposed Web Spinners, greatly enhancing its physique, vitality, aggression, etc. It's unknown why only this individual underwent these changes. Besides its huge body which is as much as twice as large as the conventional species, it can be easily distinguished from Web Spinners by its overall black body color. Like the spider it's based on, it wove thread from its spinneret, stretching webs and hunting researchers by ensnaring them.
TYRANT (p.090)
The adult male-based "ultimate life-form" created by the Arklay Laboratory. Code No. T-002. It was birthed through the development of a B.O.W. type emphasizing combat abilities, exhibiting a certain measure of perfection and named Tyrant, the official name of the "t" virus. Exceptional physical capabilities and even high intelligence to obey and execute commands were realized upon its design. It was due to be commercialized after completing the final check "test" of the combat model against veteran soldiers.
S. TYRANT (p.092)
The Tyrant when its limiter was disengaged due to endangerment of its life. Other than the superficial difference that its whole body was tinged reddish, dramatic changes were generated internally, physical strength, agility and offensive ability far exceeded conventional values. Although it's in an irregular state, so to speak, since its capabilities as a weapon have markedly increased, in a sense, this form's fitting as the ultimate ideal form "Tyrant" its developers aimed for.
ZOMBIE (p.057)
Things which were people whose genetic structure was altered as a result of being infected with the t-Virus. It's called a Zombie because its skin decomposes, intelligence is lost and it shows aspects just like a "living corpse." SCENARIO (text by Benny Matsuyama)
Chris Redfield
Where do I begin?
I guess around the time when we decided to take the helicopter out to search for the vanished Bravo Team.
Or should I begin at the time we heard the first report of a bizarre incident that occurred in Raccoon?
No... two years ago, this began on that fateful day when we applied to be recruited to a newly founded special mission unit founded by Raccoon Police Department.
It was then that S.T.A.R.S. were thrust into the middle of a never ending nightmare. I was being taken into a world of madness where blood, death, decay and fear would be forever planted in our minds.
It feels like a long time ago now since the incident struck, one where isolated people were attacked by an apparent group of about ten people, and residents were being murdered in Raccoon City located in the American midwest.
The scene was such a terrible situation I wanted to cover my eyes. Most of the victim's bodies were damaged to such extent even their parents and family couldn't distinguish them... It turns out only around ten percent of these bizarre incidents were actually reported.
Everything had changed. Some of the victim's bodies would never be found except for bones and muscle tissue. From the flesh of the face to the innards of a torn belly...
They were eaten. Several victims were found to have teeth shaped markings on them. It's not clear whether the victims were eaten alive or not. We would've been better off telling them it was a terrible hunting accident, no matter what we tell the public it's going to sound crazy, we can't publish the facts as they appear because it seems so unreal.
However, in those cases where such abnormalities had penetrated, we came together immediately to solve this. Even if it's a devil worshiping cult, performing human sacrifices or cannibalism, carrying them out more than usual, or perhaps they're even under the influence of drug use. If we could find the source, perhaps check the surrounding hospitals and pharmacies for suspects who've been injured in the process.
Everyone looked to the police department to solve this investigation.
However, the investigation went on with no signs of progress.
There were no cults that seemed to be involved in the incident, and there were no suspicious individuals brought into the hospital before or after any incidents. It's as if the criminal group had disappeared from the society in which people live - as if they were wandering around the mountains and forest like starving little wild beasts.
The citizens became impatient, and when the second and then third "human eating" incident occurred, the investigation policy was forced to change.
The Raccoon Police Department's no longer supposed to be investigating. It was extremely unusual at this stage for the criminals to not be identified and it was time for us to step in as a unit capable of coping with a heinous ongoing murder investigation, though we were originally a specialist hostage rescue unit. It was decided to dispatch six S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team members to investigate the wider area of the Raccoon Forest zone, including the Arklay Mountains...
Communications ceased.
We headed out for our search and retrieve mission via helicopter. Alpha Team were looking at the crashed helicopter belonging to Bravo. The helicopter was supposed to be where we'd find the missing Bravo Team, but all that was there was the corpse of the pilot, Kevin. I was struck by a sudden realization, a ravaged and carved up carcass.
Yes... I was already in a nightmare. In the forest of night, bushes rustled in the wind like untamed animals. Our helicopter left the team behind... We were driven away, there were no options other than to escape into a mansion that emerged from the darkness.
The huge double doors were heavy as we rushed inside.
The doors slammed shut behind us, and like prey in a cage, the nightmare began.
Jill Valentine
The night forest seemed to have been covered with a net woven from dark thread. Branches of trees growing irregularly overlapping, the shadows outside appear to be chopping the cloudy night sky.
The intense light produced by a military flashlight, in this case, everything surrounding it was pitch black but the slender flashlight illuminates everything from its viewpoint. In the summer night, the rising fog showed our comrades appearing like ghostly figures.
What in the world happened here?
I forcibly tried to drive the images I saw in Bravo Team's crashed helicopter to the back of my mind.
All that was left in the cabin was the corpse of Kevin, the pilot.
His left eye was torn out with something sharp. Clearly, there were marks on the body that showed biting and tearing. Did a dog come in after the crash, or... I shook off the image of a "monster" lurking in the darkness of the night and concentrated my attention on the search for the missing Bravo Team. Even though strange incidents were occurring frequently, there must be some truth to these "monster" sighting rumours. Which Raccoon's local newspapers write about somewhat interestingly.
Suddenly.
Everyone in Alpha Team was overcome by this somewhat awkward feeling.
Joseph, who'd been restless before our departure, was shaken to have made the discovery of Kevin and he didn't appear prepared to continue looking for his colleagues, even though he was trying to not let it show. Even Barry, who I always depend on, his face behind a beard, is oddly serious tonight.
Captain Wesker, who strongly insisted on searching the Arklay Mountains, I couldn't read his expressions with his trademark sunglasses, and it seems Chris didn't change his stance at all, as per usual.
I should keep moving - but I suddenly halted when I could hear the cry of Joseph who was supposed to be near.
He was screaming. Moreover, like cries of pain, gunshots continued until the magazine was empty. The extreme anxiety forcibly suppressed itself and turned instantaneously into fear.
Joseph was being devoured. He was surrounded by four large dogs filling their huge jaws, dripping with blood and saliva... they look like monsters that jumped straight out of a horror movie. Their skin had simply melted away and the bones were exposed in certain places. Dobermans who died a long time ago and rotted without a care, they were devouring my friend...
I could see one of their white muddy eyes slowly turning to face toward me. My heart was ringing - yet my body refused to move. I just stood squeezing the gun's trigger... suddenly it bolted toward me like an arrow. My mind spun into overdrive, my heart in my throat. My legs entangled when trying to retreat. In defeat I fell unprotected to the floor, the monster pounced without mercy. Kevin's dead body flashed back to my mind. I, too, would die like that.
I could see the monster mid-air right in front of my eyes. A gunshot arrives from behind my ear. Blood splatters across my upper body and face. There was a sticky feeling and texture as I wipe away the splatter, my body sensing an instant emotion of relief.
"Come on!"
I was startled by Chris, who grabbed my arm and thrust me to my feet. Behind us, three mad dogs, unintimidated by death with our weapons, continued to rapidly chase us. No, their numbers are increasing from all around us... I guess this is the forest along the path that leads to hell?
In the confusion of our sudden departure, we were fortunate to find a huge mansion sitting quietly in the back of the woods, we had escaped from the pack of demonic dogs. It seemed we were safe, at least for the first time being.
Yet I was wrong.
BIOLOGICAL DISASTER IN A MANSION
I've never thought Zombies were scary.
A rotten corpse that gets up and wanders around with a desire for human flesh. I used to see it in movies. It's usually because of cosmic rays or mysterious pandemics...
Stories where such monsters are rampant are just movie magic after all. My sister was under the age of six but she also enjoyed these types of movies without being afraid, although she was disgusted.
The fact they were still human was the most tragic part. It's usually the fault of humans who start these wars, humans with bad intentions... humans are probably the biggest cause of death.
We, S.T.A.R.S. have been fighting day and night to protect citizens from violent crime. If you make one mistake, you could be another statistic on a list, our nerves are sharpened when at the forefront of law enforcement--- If you think about it, it's rather immature to believe in a fantasy world with Zombies eating people.
However, such a crazy opinion will be reality after tonight's over.
Zombies really exist.
The mansion we escaped into was like a theme park ripped straight out of a horror movie. Rotting humans were hanging out there, wandering around to hunt meat like it was some sort of fresh food.
We cannot escape via the entrance. Outside of which was a pack of crazy mad dogs waiting for the door to open. We had to investigate this hellish scenario totally unprepared and we had to explore ways to escape.
In the meantime, I am searching this monster house by relying on limited ammo, by myself.
The group of Alpha Team members who were together had now disappeared like a cloud of smoke ever since I found the first Zombie. Considering our situation where monsters wandered around, I had to assume the worst, but even then, I had to figure out the structure of the place, and at the same time proceed with finding my fallen comrades and discover new escape routes. The more I looked around, the more bizarre this place was.
The architectural style was clearly from a genius but also the thoughts of a man who got caught up and possessed, what kind of man would need a mansion like this... a number of malicious mechanisms were set up here and there.
It's a complicated structure with the primary goal of confusing visitors, rather than practicality as a living space. This was an unusual place that realized nightmares in reality.
I opened up dozens of locked doors with a number of keys I got by using clues from the past designer's notes, and I gradually expanded my search range. In the process I learned the cause of the rotting corpses seems to be due to covert virus research which was apparently underway here.
In the will of one of the researchers that was left, the contents made my heart sink. People were infected by a leaked virus that affected the brain, gradually harboring no reason and no humanity. At the same time, the body begins to degenerate, crumbling until the skin rots until it winds up up looking like that of the dead.
In fact, they're completely rewritten into something not human, but a corpse resurrected by an unknown virus. Despite being dead and in a less-than-human state, they become a body that cannot die, seeking flesh from those poor people... The vital activities of everyone wiped out by the devilish virus don't completely cease unless you destroy the brain or burn their body.
Biological abominations - we were stepping into the center of a nightmare full of traps.
It seems at least some of Bravo Team also arrived here and were being pursued like us. Kenneth was eaten. I wish I could've done something; I want the other members to be safe. And somehow we have to escape from this crazy mansion together. I have to inform the outside world about the virus that created monsters and even infected plants.
While being driven forth by impatience, I encountered an area I haven't yet examined.
My gun was made to shoot with precision. I had it trained upon a figure that stood in the dark. If it came forward, I was ready to immediately fire the 9mm bullets.
In the back of the room, I saw the shadowy figure.
The figure appeared to be eating someone who lay upon the ground. In a similar vein to what happened to Kenneth as his throat was torn out then he was devoured, the image remains in my head, such a miserable death. I aimed my weapon at the figure's back.
But before squeezing the trigger, I noticed a red cross marking drawn on the back of their jacket. Although I wasn't acquainted with them, I'd heard Bravo Team had a new member who'd recently been assigned and was unqualified.
I checked my footsteps and circled around them to see they were helping an injured colleague, Richard. Her face was so young and innocent she still looked like a little girl, but she took responsibility and was trying to save his life.
"Who are you?"
That was my encounter with Rebecca Chambers, the new recruit.

REQUIEM FOR FALLEN ALLIES
I am trembling with anger now rather than fear as the house of the dead makes me feel sick.
I became a member of S.T.A.R.S in order to protect the citizens of Raccoon City, but in this place everyone loses their life one after another in this ongoing nightmare regardless of whether they're military, police or civilian.
Joseph was killed by monster dogs in the woods and Kevin, an R.P.D. pilot, was found dead in a crashed helicopter. The victims were all alone. In this abominable mansion where decayed devil bastards wander, the Bravo Team we had been looking for were all prey.
When we stumbled into the entrance hall, Kenneth was likely still alive. But by the time I found him, he already had his throat torn out by a Zombie - a dead monster searching for live human flesh - and was already dead, myself breathlessly holding my nerve with fear upon my face, which normally doesn't show emotion during a mission. Sat in a wicker chair on the terrace, Forest was slouched over like a drunk waiting for his next round. The damage to his body was intense, stripped of patches of skin by crows, and where there should be a right eye there was a black hole. Even after he died, his dignity wasn't protected.
Yes, in this madness-filled mansion, even "death" isn't sacred. The dead aren't allowed to sleep.
I was mourning him when Forest suddenly arose with a roaring scream.
My friend who'd been joking around until yesterday was now in front of me and had become a ravenous, soulless monster. If this were a horror movie the heroine would scream and scream until her throat gave out and she passed out from exhaustion.
Still, what I felt was anger rather than fear. Why Forest - do all the victims have to share this fate? I don't intend to die just yet. Although "death" still brings rest and peace, maybe not in this place? While Forest's mind is dead his body lives on, only the body has a new purpose. This phenomenon seems like it has manipulated his will to survive by undertaking gaudy circumstances that are now trampling on his legacy that was once to deter crime, at least until today.
I hope he can forgive me. I had to stop him. I hesitated to pull the trigger, telling myself Forest's already dead, then less than a second later... I fired the gun and killed my fellow comrade. It was disgusting, I felt disgusted.
In addition, Richard also lost his life. I wanted to help them.
I was able to deliver a blood serum to him when he had fallen as a result of a powerful venom. Richard turned his condition around and I was supposed to have saved him, and with the toughness he showed he was supposed to have been alive, he was supposed to recover enough that he could find an escape with us, together.
However, the god of death wouldn't allow this. It wasn't only humans and dogs that became Zombies and lurked around in this mansion. It had also infected a venomous snake that enlarged to a gigantic size and had bitten Richard. When a monster of that size with its protruding fangs appeared before my eyes, Richard appeared, not fully recovered, and rushed to fight on the battlefield.
Between the bullets fired between the two of us, the serpent stopped moving. But it was a cunning reptile that awaited our carelessness. At the moment I dropped my guard the monster hurled at me and Richard threw me aside quickly, with its huge jaw taking hold of him. The screams that came from him faded and disappeared as if they were echoes in a dark cave.
Five of the remaining people have died. Even the Alpha Team couldn't control the situation caused by Umbrella, and Wesker, who was supposed to secure the main hall, had disappeared.
We were being annihilated, we hadn't been through the proper training for such a mission. The frustration of losing a trusted comrade one after another is enough to make anyone want to give up, and the fear turned to anger which burned inside me. I wasn't gonna give up. I was going to stand up and fight.
In the dungeon beneath the cemetery, which I accessed using a hidden key, there were four stone statues corresponding to the four death masks I struggled to find, I felt a suspicion that the confidence I harbored had now changed from confidence to recklessness.
It's true some research was conducted here and an accident caused this horrible situation. However, the process of exploring such a mystery was apparently made more difficult by someone using old fancy mechanisms that were installed in the mansion from the time of construction long before the accident occurred. In other words, under the extreme circumstances where human eating monsters are a reality, are those who escape meant to pay a price?
The seal of the death masks is released and the coffin which was suspended by the chains falls while spraying blood. The entrance was closed automatically, from the coffin, a Zombie flashes to its feet faster than usual, the head congested and stained with a crimson appearance.
I don't yet understand who made this mansion a testing ground for slaughter or for what purpose. But if there's a mastermind behind this, they'll pay a higher price. I will continue to fight until then.
As it rushes forward I open fire with Forest's grenade launcher upon the red head. Rocked by the impact of the explosion it stumbles backwards, as I reach for Richard's assault shotgun the red head has now closed the distance with its fast movements and I open fire at close range. All the shots fire from the muzzle and find their target upon its chest, and the Zombie that showed abnormal speed succumbs to the tremendous gunfire and falls flat on its back.
This was only the beginning of my assault. I survived and made sure to get my payback --- with the monster no longer moving, I continued laying down fire upon the cursed dead.

WARNING FROM WESKER
It wasn't long after I made it out of the abominable mansion that I received a static-ridden communication from the missing Wesker, and for the moment I stopped and took a deep breath of the wet moisture-filled air from the large desolate courtyard.
Although I was out from under the mansion's roof, I was in a place far from the feeling of freedom. Although it was summer, the poorly drained path was surrounded by naked trees where all the leaves had fallen, the area hadn't been well maintained. The area had many badly preserved steps and it never felt like this situation was truly at its end.
Still, I had to press on. Even if I cross the fence and follow the road, I probably cannot find an escape route, even if there was a road leading outside of the premises, which is the forest of death where the rotten creatures swarm.
More than anything I wanted to just escape, but I could not escape leaving behind Jill and the missing Wesker. The Bravo team members have also not all been accounted for. Since there's a possibility of some of my friends surviving, I will continue searching as much as possible and I will continue planning to find a way to survive in every scenario.
However, if priority's given to the safety of Rebecca and Richard, should I make a break through the forest and secure the helicopter crash site and wait for the chopper to come back? If I gather just the right amount of firepower, I could scare the dogs away momentarily...
As I looked at my options, my radio suddenly came to life; someone was communicating, thank you Richard.
"Someone respond..."
"Is anyone there!"
I hurriedly pushed the button, but the function of sending radio waves from here was completely dead, perhaps it was damaged when Richard was attacked by the giant snake.
"...Chain monster... no escape... outside the library, don't approach the forest..."
The poor communication was rife with static with words only being heard within intermittent interruption. However, it certainly was a warning that caught my attention. This monster of unknown identity's wandering around exactly where I'm going.
Clearly, Wesker was missing. I had doubts as to whether I should go back to the hall, but I will renew my determination and I have no choice but to continue on exploring. I must hope Wesker's alive. As it's clear, we have to search for clues quickly, even though we run the risk of carelessness.
Chris ran down the meandering pathway, and reached a set of old grid gates going through them he began to cross through a graveyard. The atmosphere and visual image of the graveyard nearly crippled his nerve and tore him into a halt; the whole situation's getting the better of me. Of course it is, who do you think you are fooling? A monster in the chains? I may be strong minded but this is enough to scare any man. To ease his mind Chris burst out into a laugh at himself, as he stepped into the path beyond the graveyard.
Chris heard a dragging noise which sounds a lot like a chain dragging. It continues until a spine chilling groan interrupts which makes him feel like something's terribly wrong, it sounds like something you would only hear from the depths of hell.
It sounded like a woman's voice. Yet at the same time, however, it didn't sound like a human voice at all.
He grasps the shotgun tight and continues forward with extreme caution. There's no comrade to watch his back this time.
He makes it to a decayed cabin, built out in the middle of nowhere.
The old cabin seemed to have been in poor condition for a long time. The windows are broken, and the board walls are also beginning to decay due to moisture. But there certainly were signs someone was living here.
Chris entered inside; wood was burning in the fireplace. It seemed the fire was just freshly built. The traces of this brand new activity clearly show the survival of someone who could handle building a fire.
But, really... Is it people who live here?
I found an old family photograph marked "My dearest Lisa" on a desk. The picture shows a young girl cuddled between her parents whose faces have been torn away, the daughter must be in her young teens. On the back of the photo was strange handwriting, but the scribbles were so bad I couldn't understand it well. It seems like a young child wrote on it... But the writing speaks of such violence, I rest my hand on the photo almost feeling sorrow for the family.
Suddenly, the entrance doorway began to squeak. A zombie-like figure passes by just outside the edge of my view as I glanced down the stairs.
There was no evidence they were lurking near this cabin. The moment Chris re-enters the fireplace room he decides to make a break for the entrance door and head back outside.
He feels a huge smack on the back of his head.
He's unconscious before even hitting the floor. He came into the cabin unprepared to encounter any of the Zombies. Feeling warm and safe, it was careless and he was ambushed and attacked.
Whoever it was that had been keeping this cabin warm, this ominous place - perhaps this was how they lured their victims here, with the promise of a safe retreat.
My thinking was disrupted and broken.

CONSUMED BY THE t-VIRUS
The building was dominated by an intense madness.
Behind the mansion was a dormitory for those who'd been staying in the facility to get some sleep - for such a place that cares so recklessly about the possibilities of a leaked virus that would upset the ecosystem. It was like an exposition site that would show off to arrogant people.
It was home to spiders that grew so large they dwarfed people, not to mention they could spit and shoot venom. Large murderous spiders that attacked in groups with enlarged needle-like fangs. The large water tank hidden in the underground part was broken and a huge shark with increased brutality swims freely around a flooded facility.
It was like its own special ecosystem had been created here that couldn't exist on earth.
The king of the dormitory was a plant. This blood-sucking plant had grown abnormally due to virus infection and was named Plant 42 by researchers, spreading its roots so they can pass through the entire building, extending the tentacles in all directions.
Plant 42, having abandoned evolution in order to find its next victim, has leaped a few hundred billion years on the evolutionary path of plants, and a road had been selected for it to prosper as a species in such an unstable manner. I was setting it back. The vines, which were almost like muscle tissue, moved freely like individual carnivores seeking prey as quickly as they could, capturing their prey with high perceptual abilities and sucking blood directly. The building itself was like a huge plant pot. Everything in the dormitory was eventually destined to be a nutrient for Plant 42.
Only in this crazy mansion, I had no words to express myself. If everything that appears in nightmares is the product of human delusion, then who came up with such plants that reign in this ecosystem? Here, the nightmare is normal and continues to mesh with reality, all intertwined and connected by a pathogen called the t-Virus.
Yes... It feels like everything has gone wrong. Some of my suspicions about S.T.A.R.S.'s intentions are now clouded.
A familiar voice eeks from the other side of the door. But it sounded totally different than usual. Not just because of the echo through the door.
That's Barry's voice, he almost sounds like a whole other person.
"...Then the story's true!... but... why destroy S.T.A.R.S."
The summary of his conversation with someone was suggesting he knew more about our involvement here than he let on.
As I step away from the door and try to rationalize what I heard, it seems like Barry was questioning someone.
The paranoia begins to swell up inside my head.
Under such circumstances, why's Barry hiding information from me? It seemed like he asked somebody "whether it's necessary to destroy S.T.A.R.S.", if I'm not mistaken.
Barry's always caring, he's a trustworthy veteran of the group who has cared deeply about uncovering the truth hidden behind the incident. Pretending to be a friend, did we fall into his trap, is he leading us to our doom?
Or... perhaps the madness that has spread throughout this dormitory has finally eroded Barry's mind and he's having an irrational meaningless conversation with himself. If there's such a thing, it seems that something I heard through a muffled door could've been inaccurate.
I'm afraid to doubt my friends who have saved my life many times... I feel like the world's a scaffold shaking more than ever.
It was clearly hostile.
It takes less than five seconds to drain the whole body. I read a report left by a researcher and saw that Plant 42 would be completely incapacitated by a compound medicine "V-JOLT." However, the king of the dormitory, which once appeared to have died, was once again strong and active.
The vines I had seen spreading through the whole dormitory had me in their grasp and I was lifted into the air helplessly. The medicine weakened the monster plant but it intended to suck up my blood and try to replace the lost nutrients. I couldn't aim my weapon. There was no way for me to resist.
"Jill!"
Just when I was about to give up, Barry entered the room. He was grabbed up in the same manner as me but was able to use a flamethrower to ignite Plant 42's entire body.
The king of the dormitory was defeated. The weak spot was cultivated by the huge flames, and the thick petals which protected the nucleus began to fall one after another, and the huge plant suddenly stopped moving.
Without Barry, I surely would have died here.
The truth remains unknown, we continue into our death trap.
New threats continue to appear...

HUNTERS RELEASED
For some time now, the risk level in the mansion had risen several notches.
I'd been through the dormitory and came back alive.
So, for the first time, new monsters now roamed the mansion.
Their form was close to human. However, compared to the Zombies that had been transformed into mindless corpses, they seem to be more beast-like, made to imitate a human being.
It looked like a gorilla, their large body leaned forward and their abnormally developed arms hung on the floor. The whole body was hard and scaly, and combined with the shape of the irritated head, it strongly resembled the characteristics of a reptile.
Its fingers were all equipped with enlarged razor sharp claws.
Each claw the same size as a bal knife.
Its almost deformed legs were encased in powerful muscles that produced an incredible amount of jumping power. I didn't ever imagine when I was dealing with criminals that I may have to shoot in such a vertical direction.
They were simply hunters. Living breathing weapons created to hunt down prey. Yes, these monsters were definitely biological weapons that were created for the purpose of eliminating humans. The t-Virus is also used for such inhuman research and its outbreak has caused this terrible biological disaster.
The situation's already far beyond the skills of a special forces unit belonging to a local city. The research and development of biochemical weapons are crimes which could lead to a major international crisis. The Zombies and victims we saw at this facility are mostly the people that were involved, and now they had simply become human experiments.
What kind of organization created such a place and managed to run this demonic research facility, the answers are somewhere in this mansion and I have to find them. It won't be enough just to survive. I must uncover the truth for my fallen comrades.
I heard something the moment I stepped into the dark study, one of the rooms I was searching after having found a key by completing complicated puzzle mechanisms. A high pitched scream from Rebecca who was somewhere above the ceiling.
I ran as fast as I could. Whilst also remaining cautious, due to the threat of those new monsters who could pounce upon me from any direction. Rebecca was supposed to be back in the dorm room, now she was in danger.
I was completely taken back by her appearance, she was so young and innocent, and upset by Richard's death, but the youngest member chosen for S.T.A.R.S. was just an 18-year-old rookie. She was still a child that had been thrown into a situation where even veteran soldiers had lost their lives one after another, with no combat skills and no actual battle experience.
Due to my carelessness in rushing, I fell and slammed hard into the floor. Returning to my feet I stopped for a moment and thought of the fastest route to take.
The screams were heard straight from above. If my memory's correct, Rebecca should be in a small library area with various books. Recalling the memory of the structure as accurately as possible, I remembered it was the room where the researchers had previously left the dog whistle. The door near the stairs was broken I would have to go around and fast.
At the same time I jumped into one of the dim corridors, a monster sprung from around a corner. I reflexively took aim with the assault shotgun and blasted it with several shots, as I rushed by the fallen monster I fired another just to be sure.
While I was reloading, I was thinking only of the fastest way to save Rebecca. It's difficult to quickly navigate an area filled with murderous creatures equal to weapons, unless you have reflexive actions and are always on edge, you won't last very long. It was a tough scenario for the newcomer Rebecca, but she seemed capable.
While there was a second gunshot echo, I walked up the next door and ran upstairs. It must've taken me about five seconds to make it atop.
I didn't want to see anymore of my comrades die miserably. Rebecca was distraught when I left her; I hadn't seen her interact with any of these enemies yet. If I couldn't save her, I cannot find the words to apologize to Richard who has already left this world. No excuses.
Please make it!
I felt like praying as I burst into the reading room.

THOSE WHO WOULD END S.T.A.R.S.
There's a traitor in S.TA.R.S. Enrico, the leader of Bravo Team, told me so.
He lay in front of me, killed by a bullet that came from behind me. It's as if he was silenced for what he knew. The fact he was murdered clearly supported that Enrico's statement was true.
I have already seen evidence regarding the unusual structure of S.T.A.R.S. input into this case. The monsters that nest in this facility are not only those accidentally infected with the virus, but bioweapons engineered for the purpose of military use, fortunately I've received advanced combat training. I wonder if the plan was to attack us and acquire combat data. However, that theory's unbelievable. No, I believe it.
I didn't want to. So I was trying hard to look away from the facts that led to the situation.
It seems impossible they would've been able to lure us to a mansion where a biological disaster spread just to get data, unless someone belonging to S.T.A.R.S. set us up. I want to believe in my comrades until the end... That thought was shattered with Enrico's death. And, ironically, it's beginning to fit. His last words were that Umbrella was pulling the strings behind it all.
Umbrella, a multinational conglomerate. It's no exaggeration to say that they dominate Raccoon City, a giant corporation occupying the economic heart of this regional city. Without Umbrella, there would be no development in Raccoon, and if this company were to move its business out of town at this point, the city will be unable to withstand the blow. Just as their drugs influence people, the city has been changed over time into a form that cannot survive without Umbrella's support.
In actuality, Umbrella was a major private sponsor at the time S.T.A.R.S. was established. There's rumored to have been a great deal of talk in HR that they provided massive financial support.
We were basically a company's private special forces. The fact Umbrella's intentions have never influenced the activities of our investigations... However, if I think about it now, they were basically the lead behind the creation of S.T.A.R.S. A foolish group who will enforce their rules without even being aware of their peers.
This inhuman experiment facility couldn't be considered anything other than their playground. The Raccoon region was the Umbrella's territory. The vast amount of materials needed for the research can be easily identified simply by transport. It cannot be ignored that only giant corporations can control an entire region's economic distribution from the bottom to the top, such an organization can hide and maintain its involvement for a long time.
An evil organization. Umbrella has been working on developing horrific viruses and bioweapons from behind a mask with a philosophy of protecting people's health. The traitor's hiding in S.T.A.R.S. An imposter laughing behind our backs leading us to this place knowing the truth about the series of bizarre incidents. Everything is falling into place.
The surviving members await their deaths, fingers on their triggers...
"Calm down! I didn't mean for him to die!"
I was hit by a sudden realization, and Barry was desperately trying to persuade me.
"Don't lie to me!"
I said with the gun pointed at his head. It was only moments ago that Barry had this same gun pointed at me.
I didn't want to believe it. That Barry's a minion of Umbrella... but all the evidence pointed to him being the traitor. The mysterious conversation heard in the dormitory and his number of suspicious behaviors-in the underground waste disposal site, leaving me isolated with the chain monster, and in this altar where a stone casket lay, he tried to use his gun on me. Not to mention the fact that whoever shot Enrico had to have been skilled with accurate shooting, he silenced Enrico.
However, even though I knew all of this, I still didn't know if my conclusion was correct. At the very least, I needed to give Barry a chance to explain.
At that time, I heard a sound of chains dragging that ran chills down my spine.
Lisa Trevor. A woman who has been tortured as a laboratory test subject for all sorts of crazy virus experiments at this facility for over thirty years. She in no way resembled the young girl I saw earlier in her childhood photo, her body was transformed into an ugly immortal monster. Umbrella took the life of a young happy girl, spread it thin and transformed it into a poor monster that stripped off people's faces in search of her mother.
Lisa was searching for her prey. "Your story ends here!"
Stood in front of me, there stood the man I could usually always depend upon, a brother in arms. "Please give me my gun, Jill!"
I hesitate and...

THE TYRANT'S JUDGMENT
We were merely that man's puppets.
The moment I first noticed that fact, I wasn't surprised.
The large-scale modern research facility built under the Raccoon forest area--- a place like a nightmare production factory, the monsters that've taken the lives of so many of my friends so far were developed and fostered as bioweapons.
I flipped through the carefully organized slides of the creatures and in the very last picture that was projected, there was a figure in a white coat. He was a bit younger than now, but the blonde man wearing trademark sunglasses hasn't changed.
If this man was influencing this tragedy, everything can be explained. That's why I wasn't surprised. In retrospect, he was the only one in a position to manipulate us as we had been.
As S.T.A.R.S. Captain, he oversaw both Alpha and Bravo teams and always led the way, leading us in the direction of this mess. A man within Umbrella's secret research facility in the position of an advisory researcher and at the center of bioweapons development.
Albert Wesker, the cold blooded man who shot his own second-in-command Enrico, is now aiming a gun at me without making a single expression regarding my accusations.
You can see the remarkable creature in its capsule situated next to the computer controls, which Wesker was typing upon moments before myself and Rebecca entered. It was dim and I couldn't see through the capsule glass well, but I just knew a giant-looking silhouette was standing upright. But if it was a humanoid creature, its height would be well over 3m.
"That's..."
Rebecca knew it was unbelievable, knowing Wesker was the traitor in the incident, even murdering his comrades directly.
"Yes, that's right."
Wesker looks up and smirks at it. "It's magnificent."
Suddenly, a muzzle flash appeared right in front of me as a bullet blew by and struck Rebecca. Wesker shot her in the same fashion he did Enrico, from such a close range there's no doubt she was hit. The 9mm shot from a S.T.A.R.S. handgun had landed exactly above her heart.
The image of Rebecca falling to the floor made me once again feel the furious wrath of rage within. This bastard really thinks of people's lives as mere trash. I still remember my rage and nausea but at the same time I was trying to keep my attention at the Captain's direction as he spoke to me again. "There's no rush to die. I have something interesting to show you."
The man immediately returns his attention to me and clearly has no remorse or notions of good and evil, he lifts the end of his mouth proudly and takes a few steps back. And with his left hand, he entered the last command on the computer, which responded immediately.
Inside the capsule lights began to come alive slowly one after another. The silhouette's appearance is illuminated and brought into detail right in front of my eyes.
Was this the result of these experiments, created over the years at this insane research facility?
The result of human beings created by the t-Virus and genetic manipulation--- the enlarged left arm in particular had huge claws attached at the fingertips. The massive heart was expanded to a size that didn't seem to fit inside the huge body, protruding outside of the chest, repeatedly pumping with a grotesque pulsation.
"This is the ultimate life-form, Tyrant!"
To me, it was a monster like Frankenstein. Wesker looked at the weird monster with admiration as if he was seeing it for the first time.
"It's truly beautiful,"
At this moment, Wesker seemed to have almost forgotten about me. He stood in awe in front of the drained capsule, staring at it as the Tyrant awoke, and...
Suddenly, the Tyrant's left arm thrashed out to break the thick glass and penetrated Wesker's abdomen, the long thick nails protruded out of Wesker's back. As it twisted its nails Wesker muttered one last gurgling scream of pain, then was miserably tossed aside.
There are supposed to be laws to judge people. And somehow I managed to reveal Wesker's true identity, I could've made it public to the world, reveal the truth of the incident, and he could pay for his sins. But that no longer matters now.
Killed by his own creation, the uncontrollable monster turned to me. There are no laws to judge monsters that've been manufactured. I had to stop it here.
Holding the magnum, I shouted.
"Come on, freak!"

EPILOGUE
I wonder if night will ever come again---
The sun was rising, which could be seen from the horizon of the Arklay area, the fog dissipated and the endless nightmare vanished like a mirage.
A long, too long night of fear's over. Chris Redfield finally realized it while watching the mansion, the setting for the devastation and madness of the incident they'd survived, moving away into the distance.
The survivors will be cared for now, and the helicopter operated by Brad Vickers continues to rise into the sky. Soaking in the clear morning sunshine and shaking off the clingy darkness.
The time comes when the helicopter has reached a sufficient altitude.
As the explosion shakes the atmosphere, the flames and blast swallow the mansion and the facilities that accompanied it, all traces of their nightmare are blown away in the explosion and fire. Those that had become rotten Zombies, various bioweapons shaped by evil humans, and the source of it all, the t-Virus.
The large forest in Raccoon's a blazing inferno due to the explosion that destroyed and incinerated everything.
The past 48 hours in which the events transpired began on July 24th, 1998 and led into the dawn of the next day on the 25th. I was exhausted.
Only five people survived to make it back to Raccoon City. As for the Bravo Team who never stood a chance, no survivors have been confirmed except for the new recruit Rebecca Chambers. In addition, S.T.A.R.S. Captain Albert was revealed to have been the mastermind behind the incident. There's an extremely low probability Wesker survived. The helicopter flies away from the ruins of the biological disaster as the rising sun appears. Headed to Raccoon City where a peaceful daily life will be waiting. To the world of "normality."
Jill Valentine released a long-lasting build up of tension and fell asleep on Chris' shoulder.
Rebecca, was resting her head, she lay in the seat peacefully sleeping.
Barry Burton's still busy checking his favorite magnum, which has now been well-used. That was his usual ritual of healing his worn nerves.
Chris stared out into the darkness of the incident he experienced as the morning light fills the cabin. A deep, deep, bottomless pit that'll never see light again... S.T.A.R.S. to which they belonged had been swallowed up by that darkness. Their recovery will be even more difficult than they could possibly imagine. My readiness to fight the great evil was muted inside my exhausted body.
But that's what we must do. It's our responsibility as part of the survivors.
However, at least I'm at ease, if only for the time being.
Looking at Jill's sleeping face, Chris wondered how she had managed to fall asleep, he had such respect for her accomplishment. Going back to the city will take a while, and for now this moment should last a little longer...
But they...
They're not yet aware....
That this awful incident's only the beginning of a catastrophe that'll overwhelm Raccoon City.
A huge event that'll alter the fates of those involved in S.T.A.R.S., and slowly but surely swallow the entire city.
The true dawn has yet to come.

Chris Redfield
Jill Valentine

Jill Valentine

SECRET FEATURE (p.331-333)
The Whole Picture of the "Mansion Incident"
Scattered bizarre murder cases which occurred frequently in the cases of the Arklay Mountains region in the vicinity of Raccoon City... It was a biohazard which occurred in a certain single mansion that caused them all and created the prelude S.T.A.R.S. paid great sacrifices for. We've explained the unclear portions by pursuing the story then summarized the complete picture of this abnormal situation that came to be later called the Mansion Incident.
BEHIND THE SCENES REALITY
We explain the connection between the incident and the truth of the giant corporation Umbrella, which is the mastermind of the Mansion Incident.
01. THE TRUE FACE OF UMBRELLA
Umbrella had great influence in every field as a conglomerate spanning the world and supported Raccoon City's foundation. It became a pharmaceutical company based on the promise of protecting the health of the people with its strength in viral disease treatment, but the true nature of this company was a "merchant of death" developing and producing biological weapons using viruses. The mansion S.T.A.R.S. arrived at was one of these weapons development facilities called the "Arklay Laboratory" among authorized personnel. However, they cleverly concealed this fact using their mighty power.
< In the mansion which became the stage of the incident, Umbrella founder Lord Spencer had it built for bioweapons development. It was officially considered the company's recreation facility.
02. THE t-VIRUS PROJECT
The "Tyrant Virus" (common name "t-Virus") Umbrella was originally studying was the direct cause of the Mansion Incident that took place.
First of all, the t-Virus isn't something that already existed in the natural world. In the beginning, the founders of Umbrella including Lord Spencer discovered a new RNA virus strain called the "Progenitor Virus." By incorporating the genes of other viruses in this Progenitor Virus and adding improvements, it became ideal and easy to use as a military weapon for developing bioweapons (refer to next section) - this project conducted by Umbrella was called the t-Virus Project.
> So to speak, the monsters wandering the mansion are people sacrificed to the virus.
There are also humans and creatures which were infected or received genetic enhancement.
DATA ON THE t-VIRUS
【Summary】A new class of RNA virus developed by Umbrella. Also included are variant types created in research experiments.
【Characteristics】The capacity for environmental adaptation's known to be high and every living thing serves as a vector of infection.
【Infected Organism Characteristics】Miraculous durability and offensive ability, general characteristic of ferociousness. There are many examples of bodies becoming large. Intelligence generally decreases, but may increase before infection extremely rarely.
【General Symptoms Occurring In Human Body】Sense of hunger increases, skin necrosis and blood congestion are seen. Causes loss of reasoning and clouding of consciousness, progressing irregularly with time. The entire body festers on its deathbed, craving the flesh of certain living things and beginning to wander. The infected organism in this stage is called a "Zombie" and is in a state equal to death from a medical standpoint. There are individual differences before reaching a Zombie after being infected however, one week at the latest, and early the same day. A method to cure this state yet to be discovered.
03. B.O.W. & t-VIRUS PROJECT
B.O.W. is an abbreviation for "Bio Organic Weapon" and refers to organic life-form weapons for which Umbrella advanced research and development. Speaking of B.O.W.'s, various types exist for different application purposes such as combat or virus dispersal depending on the organisms they're based on. Umbrella aimed for a humanoid combat B.O.W. with advanced intelligence (as disguised infiltration's possible as a human type), and was temporarily named Tyrant from the beginning of development. In other words, it can be said the name Tyrant Virus was kept to match the goal.
EXAMPLES OF B.O.W. SEEN IN THE MANSION
- CERBERUS... CODE: MA-39 / BASE: Dog
- NEPTUNE... CODE: FI-3 / BASE: Shark
- HUNTER... CODE: MA-121 / BASE: Human
- CHIMERA... CODE: Unknown / BASE: Human (+Fly)
- TYRANT... CODE: T-002 / BASE: Human
*The Web Spinner and Yawn are a kind of B.O.W. The Zombie's a B.O.W. in the sense it was studied for the purpose of spreading the virus.
VICTIMS OF THE PROJECT ~DETAILS OF THE TREVOR FAMILY~
George Trevor, who was in charge of designing and constructing the mansion at the request of Lord Oswell E. Spencer, and his family. The three of them were the first victims of the t-Virus Project.
After completing the mansion, George was imprisoned within the mansion to be silenced, and died. Variant types of the Progenitor Virus were administered to his wife and child as test subjects, but Jessica couldn't adapt and was annulled and disposed of. On the other hand, Lisa survived, though suffering mental and physical abnormalities, and spent several decades imprisoned as a test subject.
TREVOR FAMILY RELEVANT CHRONOLOGY 1962~1998
A certain day in 1962 - George agrees to design the mansion.
A certain day in 1967 - Completion of the mansion. Three members of the family are invited under the pretext of a commemoration.
November 10th - Jessica and Lisa first arrive and are administered the Progenitor Virus.
13th - George is imprisoned in the mansion.
14th - Jessica's annulled and disposed of.
31st - George dies of starvation in the mansion.
July 1st 1988 - An examination of Lisa's body begins her as a test subject of great interest.
July 31st 1995 - Lisa's annulled and disposed of. (On Record)
---
July 24th 1998 - Lisa and S.T.A.R.S. wander around the interior and exterior of the mansion and encounter each other.
04. ORIGIN OF THE ABNORMAL SITUATION
In the beginning of this incident, the t-Virus began to leak in an accident. The staff and animals were infected with it, and the humans became Zombies while loose B.O.W.'s wandered outside the mansion in search of flesh, causing the bizarre murder cases. It was approximately two months since the accidental outbreak until S.T.A.R.S. was dispatched. Meanwhile, Umbrella concealed the accident and didn't undertake a concrete solution.
Concerning ethics, it's already pointless to ask who was conducting the humanity-deviating research based on the fact they concealed the accident.
However, why didn't they take measures until damage spread near them? Were the effects of the accident really beyond prediction? The accident was used for this incident and a large-scale "experiment" using all of the creatures inside the mansion.

Wesker's Report II
Emergency Report
Emergency Report
Aug 21, 1998
I have a very important report to show you, and since you and I are both reporters of the Raccoon Times, I think I can trust you.
During our secret investigation about the Mansion Incident that happened last month, we finally found some evidence of Umbrella's crimes. According to the report we found, now we've got the truth, and it's far different from everything we were told before, I want you to inform the public as soon as possible.
The first thing we need to focus on is that it tells us the real identity of Albert Wesker, who's behind all this evil. The report says he was first trained at the Umbrella Executive Training School then transferred to that mansion (they call it "Arklay Laboratory"), becoming one of the chief researchers and conducting many experiments. After that, he quit his position as a researcher and requested a transfer to Umbrella's Intelligence Division. In this part his detailed information's on display, and one detail I noticed is he was also suspicious about the purpose of those studies. On one side, he seemed to act under Umbrella's command, but in truth he had his own objective as well. I think we can find some reasons for his strange behavior in the report.
Of course, I wrote down all useful things on it. Those evil experiments in that mansion, the details of that evil virus, the goals the researchers kept pursuing. The "female test subject" mentioned quite a few times in this article is supposed to be that monster called "Lisa Trevor", just as described by those survivors, and her tragic story's told by this report. When S.T.A.R.S. members faced this monster, it showed unbelievable vitality and toughness, it almost couldn't be killed. As for the reason, I think it'll be clear after you read pages four and five of the report. And her strange behavior of ripping off people's faces can also be understood according to the content of a diary found in the incident.
What's more, as the investigation continues, many noticeable names appear in this report. William Birkin, a genius man and also Wesker's partner researcher in the mansion. Alexia Ashford, a genius girl whose talent made William almost lose his mind. John, William's successor as chief researcher, who was aware of the danger of that terrible research. And Ada Wong, a woman who received this report. It seems all those people above didn't appear in the Mansion Incident, but it's possible any one of them are now doing some horrible things somewhere.
Because of this, I'm pretty sure our opinion's correct and the incident isn't over yet. The origin of all these evil things, Umbrella, still holds a good image to the public, and no citizens here have noticed their true face. If people who know the truth like us aren't going to expose their evil behavior and alert the world, they'll keep playing a role as a merchant of death. And at this moment, they must be continuing research on that devilish virus and developing some horrible biological weapons. It seems they're now working on developing the "G-Virus", even its prototype has extremely terrifying power. Can you imagine what's gonna happen if it's finished and applied to manufacturing bioweapons? A biohazard will happen again. The incident that happened in that old mansion deep in the mountains isn't the end, maybe the whole city will be embroiled in tragedy at some point.
I think you must've understood what I said, what's left for you to do is to sum up this report and the results of our investigation, then make them public as soon as possible. You have to start preparing immediately.
