The Family's a giant organization led by Derek C. Simmons.
Founded by the Simmons clan prior to the founding of the United States, this organization has manipulated history since ancient times using its global network and tremendous financial power.
The Family's purpose is to maintain "global stability." In other words, to maintain a "global situation most beneficial for The Family", and they'll stop at nothing to achieve this purpose.
The Family believes it optimal to strive for "stability" through "the U.S. being the peak of the pyramid of power." For this reason, they feared publicizing the Raccoon Incident would unravel this structure, so under Simmons' orders they launched a bioterror attack to assassinate the President.
Simmons' instructions to The Family after the Tall Oaks incident were included among the data Ada gave to Leon.

ファミリーの目的は、「世界の安定」を維持することである。言い換えれば「ファミリーにとって最も有益となる世界情勢」を維持することにあたり、この目的を達成するためなら、手段を選ばない。
ファミリーは「アメリカを頂点とするピラミッド型の権力構図」の「安定」に努めることが最良だと考えていた。そのため、ラクーン事件の公表によってこの構図が崩壊することを恐れ、シモンズの指示のもとバイオテロを起こし、大統領を暗殺した。
トールオークスの事件後、ファミリーに出したシモンズの指示が、エイダからレオンに渡されたデータの中に入っていた。

The Family was founded by one of Derek's ancestors before the United States was even founded, and its vast network of wealth and power extends throughout the globe. The Family has been manipulating the course of human development for a long time. Their ostensible goal is to maintain stability in the world, but its true motivation lies in exploiting events to benefit its members. For now, they believe maintaining that stability is contingent upon keeping the United States at the top of the pyramid of world power. If the truth about the U.S. government's connections to Umbrella's bioweapons program were to get out, it would destabilize the world and remove America from the top of that hierarchy of power. Derek sets into motion a plan that will launch a bioterrorist attack and assassinate the president, thus preserving The Family's designs on power and stability.
After the incident at Tall Oaks, Simmons sent The Family orders that were recorded in the data Ada had given to Leon.
