STUART'S NOTES / CLAIRE & MOIRA 1
In this experiment, Test Subject No.2, Claire Redfield, is considered a "key figure."
Along with Test Subject No.6 who's acting in tandem with Claire, Moira Burton.
When I became interested in the relationship between the two and sorted through related documents, I noticed an interesting connection.
Once I went back to when they first met, I found it was the 1998 "Raccoon Incident", which led to the spread of bioterrorism all over the world.
Claire was a student at the time in 1998, and though caught up in the Raccoon Incident, she was one of the few to escape.
Claire’s older brother, Chris Redfield, and Moira’s father, Barry Burton, were survivors of the special forces unit S.T.A.R.S., who policed Raccoon City.
Chris later became a founding member of an anti-bioterror special ops unit, the BSAA.
Barry was invited by Chris to enlist in the unit as a consultant.
Then Claire met Barry and Moira.
The Burtons got along well with Claire and Chris, seeming to have become like family.
This encounter led Moira to TerraSave, as well as being named on the test subject list for this project.
It all started with the Raccoon Incident.
That is tied to how we came to conduct the current experiment.
I cannot dismiss these coincidences as irony.
They may have all been fate.

二人の関係に興味を覚え関係資料を整理すると興味深い繋がりに気づく。
二人の出会ったきっかけをさかのぼると、そこには全世界にバイオテロが蔓延するきっかけ1998年の「ラクーン事件」に辿りつくのだ。
1998年当時、学生だったクレアは、「ラクーン事件」に巻き込まれるも、生還した数少ない人物の一人である。
そんなラクーンシティの治安を守る特殊部隊「S.R.A.R.S」の生存者がモイラの父、バリー・バートンとクレアの兄、クリス・レッドフィールドだった。
クリスはのちに対バイオテロ特殊部隊「BSAA」の設立メンバーとなる。
バリーは、クリスに誘われコンサルタントとして入隊した。
そこでクレアは、バリーとモイラに出会う。
クリス、クレアとバリー親子は意気投合し、家族のような間柄になったようだ。
この出会いが、モイラをテラセイブへと導き、今回の被験者リストに名を連ねることになった。
すべてのはじまりは「ラクーン事件」。
それは、今回の実験が行われることになった経緯と繋がるのだ。
これら偶然を皮肉とかたづけることは出来ない。
すべては運命だったのかもしれない。

I thought it prudent to keep notes on some of the more promising candidates in this round of experiments. I noticed that subjects no. 2 and no. 6, Claire Redfield and Moira Burton, have been working together since the beginning. My curiosity piqued, I decided to look into these two and found they have a deeper relationship that goes beyond that of just co-workers.
It might be fair to say their friendship has its origins in the Raccoon City Incident back in 1998. Claire, a university student at the time, was one of the few survivors. Meanwhile, her brother Chris Redfield and Moira's father, Barry Burton, were members of the special forces unit S.T.A.R.S. that was involved in the events leading up to the incident. Following Raccoon City, Chris became one of the founding members of the BSAA. Though Barry relocated his family to Canada for safety concerns, he would continue to be an activist against bioterrorism, eventually accepting a position as a BSAA consultant after an invitation from Chris.
It was through Chris that Barry and Claire met, and the three became close, with Barry taking on a mentor-like role to the two parentless siblings.
Claire and Moira would also become friends, leading to Moira's desire to join Terra Save. That is also what landed her on Neil's candidate list. Meeting Claire was less than fortuitous for the young lady.
I find it deliciously ironic. Following the events of Raccoon City, Barry moved his family away to protect them. However, the friends he made during that time would only serve to further put his family in danger.
