PIERS' CAREER
Piers, the eldest son of the Nivans family, was born into a family of soldiers dating back to his great-grandfather, and ever since he could remember, he believed the only road he should take was the military, and hasn't thought about any other path except for it.
Piers graduated from a military academy with excellent results and was selected for his advanced sniping capabilities to be assigned to the Green Berets.
However, soon after entering the military, he couldn't find a clear purpose for fighting and came to a dead-end.
"What am I fighting for...?"
While troubled and simply lost-in-thought, Piers devoted himself to training for days.
In 2010, Piers further polished his sniping skills through training and was personally scouted to by Chris Redfield join the BSAA.
Piers was shocked, Chris was a top-class agent and a member of the "Original Eleven" from the BSAA's foundation, but in order to nurture the younger generation, he'd abandoned his privilege, as one would say, and was appointed Captain of Alpha Team.
Furthermore, Chris called his own subordinates "family", believed the younger generation would shoulder the BSAA's future, and respected the wills and lives of his subordinates more than anything when he was in command.
Piers was deeply impressed with his attitude, which he'd never seen in the military unit he once belonged to, and he was positive Chris was someone he should aspire to be, and beyond that, he'd found a purpose to fight for.
About a year ago, Piers told a bunch of recruits a story about Chris. One of the listening recruits was so impressed he jotted it down on a note.

"I asked the Captain the other day. "Captain, what were you doing at my age?" I'm 25 now? The Captain faced the "Mansion Incident" when he was 25. At my age he went up against the event we could call the start of the Raccoon Incident. He fought almost alone against B.O.W.'s, completely unknown organisms at the time, and narrowly survived. Things haven't been normal since then.
It didn't end there. Three months later, this time on Rockfort Island under Umbrella's control, the Captain infiltrated alone in order to rescue his younger sister. There he fought against an unknown virus not seen in Raccoon, and also fought Albert Wesker. I hear they left things unfinished.
B.O.W.'s are horrible in every way, though for me, I find the Captain more scary. Right now I definitely couldn't do what the Captain did back then.
That's the reason Chris Redfield's a living legend in the BSAA. Though I know I may never be able to catch up to him, I hope to be like him.

ピアーズは、ＢＳＡＡ創設時からのメンバー「オリジナル・イレブン」であり、トップクラスのエージェントであったクリスが、若い世代を育成するため、いわば特権階級であった自分の立場を捨て、最前線であるアルファチームの隊長に就任したことを知り、衝撃を受ける。
さらにクリスは、自身の部下たちを「家族」とまで呼び、ＢＳＡＡの未来を担うのは若い世代であると考え、部下たちの命と意志を何よりも尊重して指揮を執っていた。

All the men in Piers Nivans' family have been in the military, going all the way back to his great-grandfather. For as long as he could remember, Piers wanted to follow in his father's footsteps.
He graduated at the top of his class from an elite military academy, where he was highly recognized for his skills as a sniper. Following graduation, he joined the army's Special Forces. Not long after joining the Special Forces, he became disillusioned.
While he continued to participate in his drills without a hitch, he yearned for some greater calling, a reason for all this training. In 2010, he found that calling when Chris Redfield, impressed with Piers' sniper skills, asked him to join the BSAA.
Piers was impressed with the way Chris ran Alpha Team; he treated them like a family and not like expendable soldiers. Chris, for his part, knew he couldn't be a field agent forever, which is why he recruited Piers. Chris believes the future of the BSAA lies with talented individuals like Piers, and Piers, for his part, now has a cause worth fighting for.
Piers spoke to some of those under him regarding Chris about a year ago. Below is a memo written by one of them who seemed to take great interest in what Piers had to say.

When Chris was 25, he was involved in the famous Mansion Incident. He went up against B.O.W.s before they were even called B.O.W.s, and lived! Just that alone is awesome enough. But then 3 months after, he goes on a solo mission to search for his sister at Rockfort Island, which was run by Umbrella. He ran into monsters made from a new virus and even went up against Albert Wesker.
I don't think I could ever handle all that he did at this point in my life. He is one hell of a guy. A legend, even!
I'd want to be just like him. I just don't know if I really got what it takes.
