PASSENGER'S DIARY
July 14
We received orders from the higher-ups today.
They say we have to investigate the remains of a laboratory in the Arklay Mountains, and it seems we're going to be in charge.
The movement is divided into two groups and the advance party seems to have begun investigating abandoned test subjects and waste products.
July 16
It's regrettable this investigation has forced us to suspend our research on the prototype B.O.W. "type-y139", even if only temporarily. For type-y139, the same applies...
How crustaceans respond to the t-Virus remains largely unknown and is a very fascinating subject of research. Depending on species and cultivation environment, even a very small dose of "t" can cause the entire body to become extremely tough and huge, abnormally reproduce toxins within the body, and develop intelligence, elements we may be able to materialize for weapon applications.
But at the same time, rapid development of the carapace also causes a problem with reduced strength.
A particular part becomes surprisingly weak.
You could say this part's a major issue, as it's the outer shell of the head.
Were they also conducting similar research in the lab at our destination? It'd be nice if they had some research data or samples, etc., that could provide us some inspiration for future experiments.
July 19
I grow more anxious as the scheduled date draws nearer...
The TV and newspapers in Raccoon City seem to be reporting on bizarre murder cases happening in the outskirts on a daily basis.
I don't think it's possible, but could it be the virus? If that's the case...
No... There's no point in thinking about that now.
I'll concentrate on the preparations so the investigation can proceed as planned.

PASSENGER'S DIARY
July 14th
Orders came from the boss today.
Looks like we're in charge of investigating the remains of the Arklay Mountains laboratory.
We're moving in two groups, with us as the initial group, assigned to stand checking what's left of the abandoned experiment.
July 16th
Unfortunately, the test production of the B.O.W. (Type-Y139) had to be suspended because of this investigation.
It's the same with the Type-Y139. There's still so much we don't know about responses to the crustacean t-virus.
There's a lot of interesting research left...
Depending on the species and nurturing conditions, only minute doses of "t" bring about remarkable changes in solidity, size, multiplication of internal toxins and brain development. If these effects can be controlled, a weapon could be produced.
But the sudden development of the shell results in corresponding fragility. Certain areas become exceedingly weak.
Problematically, one of these areas is the head carapace.
This lab we are going to-Were they pursuing the same research? It would certainly help to find data and samples that help us in our research.
July 19th
The day is finally approaching... I am growing more anxious.
The Raccoon City newspapers and TV stations are full of reports about the bizarre murders in the suburbs.
It can't be the virus. Can it? If it is...
No, I can't think of that now.
I have to concentrate on this investigation and make sure it runs smoothly.
