Given her personality and the fact that she abhored being beneath others, this must've been considerably humiliating for her.
It was during this time she was approached by Albert Wesker.
Having taken notice of her talent and temperament, Wesker provided Excella with information on the t-Virus and others he possessed.
This became Excella's surefire arsenal.
With the information and technology she brought to the table, TRICELL's bioweapons development accelerated rapidly.
Furthermore, the collapse of Umbrella, which had boasted the top share on the bioweapons market, was a blessing that allowed TRICELL to smoothly expand their own market share.
It also simultaneously elevated Excella's influence as the most significant contributor to development, and before long her words and actions began influencing even the policies of the entire Pharmaceuticals Department.
This was exactly what Wesker wanted.
Next, Excella demanded the managing director position of the TRICELL Africa Branch.
Using the bioweapons business as a springboard, she employed skilled use of flattery and extortion to successfully obtain this post.
It's easy to imagine Wesker instigated her drama to assume the post of Africa Branch managing director.
Wesker sought to take advantage of Excella's romantic feelings for him, using her and the TRICELL Africa Branch as components of his "Uroboros Project."

Although she dreamed of becoming the queen of the coming new world upon the project's completion, she was administered the Uroboros Virus at the hands of the man who was to be her king, Wesker.
The Uroboros Virus began going out of control when it rejected Excella's genes. She transformed into a giant Uroboros as a result of the virus, which burst through her body and ended her life.

Although she was a gifted member of Tricell's founding family, she was still a Gionne, an offshoot of the famed Travis family. Even with all the research teams at Tricell's disposal, she was only given one.
Excella viewed this act as a slight.
While steel feeling indignant over this affront, she was approached by Albert Wesker.
Wesker's interest in Excella was piqued by her intelligence and character. It was at this time he provided her with all the information he had concerning the T-Virus and other research. Excella was now armed with the tools to make the advances to her career that she desired.
