NO. 10 JILL VALENTINE
Beautiful features on a seemingly delicate figure.
Nobody would think she was a former member of the elite S.T.A.R.S. if she were walking the town out of uniform.
But once a crisis looms, she becomes a soldier more competent than anyone else.
She harbors various talents and is skilled in bomb disposal not to mention handling firearms, and what's more, she's adept in opening locks with lock picks if they're simple locks.
That is Jill Valentine.
Jill belonged to the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team alongside Chris.
Together, they were involved in a tragic incident in the horrifying Arklay Laboratory, popularly called the "Mansion Incident."
Although Jill went her separate ways with Chris in the mansion, she discovered the truth of the incident with Chris at the end.
The betrayals of their comrade Barry Burton and Captain Albert Wesker of S.T.A.R.S., who was pulling the strings in the background.
The existence of the t-Virus that turns humans into Zombies, and the scheme of the giant pharmaceutical company Umbrella.
Those truths determined Jill's subsequent fate.
After their safe return from the mansion, she reported the threat of Umbrella with Chris, but the investigation didn't move forward at all.
Irritated by this, the two decided to conduct their own investigation.
The subject of investigation was Umbrella's stronghold in Europe.
However, an important Umbrella research facility remained in Raccoon City, which she would observe as a S.T.A.R.S. member.
In order to investigate it, she decided to go to Europe after Chris.
And that dragged Jill into another incident.
In the midst of her investigation, the t-Virus began leaking from the Arklay Laboratory and was spread via rodents throughout the city.
Raccoon City, contaminated by the t-Virus, became a literal town of the dead roamed by Zombies.
And Umbrella, the principal cause of the incident, promptly reacted to this situation.
It sent the biohazard countermeasure unit "U.B.C.S." into the field site and deployed a bioweapon called the Nemesis-T Type to silence the surviving S.T.A.R.S. members.
As she planned her escape from the city while being pursued by the Nemesis-T Type, Jill met one man there.
A survivor of the U.B.C.S., Carlos Oliveira.
Although Carlos proposed working together to escape the city and believed his unit aimed to rescue civilians, his words weren't taken without reserve by Jill.
However, a situation was imminent.
Troubled by Raccoon City's virus contamination, the U.S. government was about to carry out a special bombing strike known as the "Sterilization Strategy."
What's more, Jill was infected with the t-Virus and believed escape to be hopeless.
But Carlos saved her from this predicament.
Carlos obtained a vaccine and administered it to the t-Virus infected Jill.
Jill recovered safely and, working with Carlos, they succeeding in escaping Raccoon City.
Then came 2003.
After the "T-A.L.O.S. Intercept Operation" carried out in Russia, Jill fought bioweapon crimes around the world as an early member of the BSAA (Original Eleven), along with Chris.
The two of them engaged in various ops, including thwarting bioweapon terror attacks in Asia, destroying South American bioweapon labs and apprehending traffickers in Europe, but they never would've imagined Umbrella's shadow would lie before them once again.
Its shadow was a deep, dark black.
It was the shape of Oswell E. Spencer, founder of Umbrella.
Having located Spencer's whereabouts, the duo hurried to arrest him and raided Spencer's room, only to find their mortal enemy and former superior, Albert Wesker.
When they saw Spencer's corpse lying at Wesker's feet, they quickly changed the mission to arrest Wesker.
A two-on-one situation is advantageous, for sure.
Wesker however had already become something surpassing mankind.
They were no match for Wesker at all.
Then, at the moment Wesker's fist was about to pierce Chris' body, Jill reflexively ran.
Jill grappled Wesker with her momentum and crashed through the window, vanishing into the abyss and taking Wesker with her.
All that remained at that time was Chris and his screams.
The BSAA then conducted a massive search; but not a single one of her personal effects, let alone her body, were found.
Then on November 23rd 2006, Jill was officially declared deceased and her name joined the BSAA's list of those killed in the line of duty.
Her story wasn't over yet though.
She'd disappeared down the cliff and was rescued by Wesker.
Wesker rescued Jill and simply kept her alive in a cryo-sleep state.
When the "Uroboros Project" was completed, he planned to use her as the first test subject.
This was Wesker's modest revenge.
However, the situation sided with Jill.
The sensors monitoring Jill's vital signs detected abnormal readings.
Something was happening in her body that once again attracted Wesker's interest.
Examination confirmed the presence of a mutated t-Virus within her body.
It was a remnant of the t-Virus she was once infected with in Raccoon City.
The t-Virus wasn't entirely exterminated by the vaccine, but remained alive lurking deep within her.
It was activated by her long cryo-sleep and surfaced.
Then the t-Virus soon vanished.
Powerful virus antibodies were discovered in her body.
After many years of incubating the t-Virus within her body, her self-defense capability resulted in what one could call a miracle.
And this fact delighted Wesker.
The Uroboros Virus was central to the Uroboros Project, but development was proving more challenging than anticipated.
The initial Uroboros Virus derived from the Progenitor flower was too virulent to use as it was.
Far from promoting the evolution of humanity, it beckoned death.
Wesker conceived of using the antibodies Jill possessed in order to counteract its virulence.
Jill was kept alive as a biofactory for antibodies.
She, who loathed bioterrorism more than anyone else and had thwarted many sinister plans, was now going to be used for the worst scheme of all.
There could be no greater irony.
Then the Uroboros Virus was completed.
Jill became unnecessary but was no longer suitable as a test subject for the Uroboros Virus.
Her body was full of high-purity virus antibodies.
Wesker thus decided to use her for something else.
There was a drug produced as a by-product of Progenitor Virus research.
The drug had no official name, merely called "P30" among the researchers.
When administered, a test subject can acquire superhuman capabilities and be mentally controlled at the same time.
In other words, it's a kind of doping.
The Uroboros Project's goal was evolving into a new human race.
In this sense, this drug was of minimal value.
But it could be utilized as a product.
Therefore, "P30" was studied in parallel with the "Plaga Project" for the purpose of creating the most powerful soldiers who never rebel, but it had a major drawback.
It had an extremely short duration of effectiveness.
A strong point was that after-effects barely remained if it were metabolized and discharged out of the body, but its effective duration was too short making it unmarketable as a product.
So they then devised continuous administration of the drug through an external device.
Even though its effective duration was short, it was still a powerful drug.
It was however unknown as to whether continuous administration would cause damage to the body.
In order to ascertain this, they decided to use Jill as a test subject.
An external device attached to her chest continuously administered the drug to Jill.
While it kept eating away at her mind, she was kept alive as Wesker and Excella's "toy", until the hour her ex-partner Chris released her from its spell.
