MERCENARY'S NOTEBOOK
September 26
Only about three hours have passed since the op began, but only me and my pal Campbell are left on my team. It's completely beyond imagination. The number of Zombies is off the charts compared to what we were briefed on.
This city's long dead!
Although we were dosed with virus antibodies, we could be in danger of being infected if environmental contamination's this severe. Suppose I ain't making it out alive this time.
September 27
I sharpened my senses to survive and was finally able to reach the clock tower.
We're desperate. To get ourselves out of danger we snatched weapons from our wounded comrades and used citizens as decoys, all to survive. That's how we've survived the battlefield since we were kids.
Then a young girl appeared before me. One of the city's survivors. She's the spitting image of my younger sister, who I witnessed starve to death first-hand.

I was going to escape immediately. The girl had no intention of doing so though.
She said her father, who she was with, won't leave this city where his wife rests.
I want to save the girl somehow. But Campbell yelled at me, "We're the only ones capable of surviving!" Sure, normally that'd be true. But now I...
This clock tower's already in serious trouble. But I don't wanna make the same mistake again.

この街はとっくに死んでいる！
俺たちはウィルス抗体を投与されているがここまで環境感染がひどいと感染する危険もありうる。今度ばかりは生きて帰れないのか。

生き延びるために神経を研ぎ澄まし、ついに時計塔にたどりつくことができた。
俺達は必死だった。生き残るために傷ついた仲間から武器を奪いとり、市民をおとりにして危機を切り抜けた。俺達はそうやって子供の頃から戦場を生き抜いてきたんだ。
その俺の前にひとりの娘が現れた。この街の生存者だ。娘は俺の目の前で飢え死にした妹にうりうたつだった。

俺はすぐにでも脱出するつもりだった。しかし娘にはその気がなかった。
一緒にいた父親が、妻の眠るこの街を離れないといったからだ。
俺は何とか娘を助けたい。だが、キャンベルは「俺達だけ生き延びられればいい！」と怒鳴った。ああ、いつもならそうするさ。しかし、いまの俺には･･･。
この時計塔もすでに危なくなっている。だが、もう二度と過ちを犯したくない。
