LUIS' NOTES 4
There are three characteristics of the "Plaga."
The first is its ability to control a host.
I don't think I'll have to refer to this again.
Second, it's a true eusocial organism.
In a nutshell, this means that rather than each individual living separately, they display a form of society, like bees or ants.
Though this feature could be called quite unusual for a parasite, it may be a trait that was mastered later while utilizing the first characteristic.
Third is its ability to parasitize a wide variety of creatures.
Combined with the previous two characteristics, this brings a special significance.
If this parasite intervenes, a mutually-linked society can even be formed between different living things.
In my desire to continue studying this fascinating organism however, I turned a blind eye to the cult's goal.
I sat by while conscious of the fact Saddler was trying to exploit the Plaga for nefarious purposes, and this is finally as far as I go.
I wonder if I'd be able to stop the cult by myself at this point though...

「プラーガ」の特徴は、３つある。
１つ目は、宿主をコントロールできる事。
これについては改めて記す必要もないだろう。
２つ目は、真社会性生物である事。
これは簡単に言うと、個体ごとにバラバラに生きるのではなく、アリやハチのように社会を形成する事を示す。
寄生虫としてはかなり珍しい特徴と言えるが、１つ目の特徴を利用するうちに、後から身に付いた特性かもしれない。
３つ目は、多様な生物に寄生できる事。
これは、先の２つの特徴と合わせると、特別な意味を持ってくる。
この寄生体が介在すれば、異なる生物の間でも、相互にリンクする社会を形成できるのだ。
しかし、俺はこの興味深い生物の研究を続けたいがために、教団の目的に目をつぶってしまっている。
サドラーが「プラーガ」を、悪用しようとしている事に気付いていながら、とうとうここまで来てしまった。
だが、今さら俺１人の力で、教団を止める事ができるのだろうか･･･

I'll report my findings about the Plagas here. The Plagas have 3 distinct characteristics.
1. As mentioned previously, the Plagas have the ability to manipulate the behavioral patterns of their hosts.
2. The Plagas are social organisms. By this I mean that instead of living individually, they live in perfect social harmony. It is believed that they have a collective intelligence. This type of behavior can be seen among insects such as bees and ants. However this kind of social behavior is rarely seen among parasitic organisms. Perhaps it was a learned behavior by the Plagas. I'm finding out if this has any relationship with their first characteristic.
3. The Plagas have exceptional adaptation skills. They are able to live off many kinds of organisms by creating a symbiotic environment quickly. This ability, when combined with their social behaviors, allows them to interact intelligently between hosts regardless of the host organism.
I am ashamed to admit that my pure fascination with the Plagas, in hindsight, has blinded me to the true research objectives of the Los Illuminados.
Even with the knowledge that Saddler was going to abuse the results of these experiments, I could not pull myself away from my research. As a result, I am just as responsible for this whole mess as he is. I see now that I was wrong, but can I stop their evil plans alone...?
