INVESTIGATION TEAM MEMBER'S MEMO 1
Dr. Marcus is said to have laid the foundation of Umbrella alongside Chairman Spencer. Although ten years have passed since he suddenly disappeared, his research results have thus far been kept secret for an unprecedented amount of time.
The reason for this, however, is that this executive training school where Dr. Marcus served as first director... No, I understood it the moment I stepped into the underground facility hidden behind its external facade.
Even now after all these years, it's plain to see the after-effects all over the place, of treating even employees as mere guinea pigs for the sake of his research on the t-Virus prototype called "Progenitor."
The number of people used as guinea pigs is unclear, but based on documents we recovered, we believe it to be no less than twenty. Among them, some were probably erased in the shadows before they realized Umbrella's true nature.
Although the doctor's whereabouts remain unknown, considering the rapid development of Umbrella today, I can't help but have a feeling his research is still continuing somewhere...
No... The research the doctor left behind has definitely been steadily growing in the darkness.
In fact, the critters surrounding this facility seem to be part of his "results"

スペンサー会長と共に、アンブレラの礎を築いたとされるマーカス博士。彼が突然、姿を消してから10年が経過したが、その研究成果はこれまで、不自然な程、公にされていなかった。
しかしその理由は、マーカス博士が初代所長を務めたこの幹部養成所、･･･いや、その表の顔に隠された地下施設へ足を踏み入れると同時に理解できた。
「始祖」と呼ばれたt-ウィルスの原型、その研究のためには社員さえもただのモルモットとしか扱わなかった非常な爪痕が、年月を経た今も至る所にはっきりと残されていたからだ。
実験台となった者の数も定かではないが、回収した資料から考えても20名は下らない。中にはアンブレラの実態を知る前に闇に消されていった者もいたことだろう。
博士の消息は不明なままだが、今日のアンブレラの急速な発展を考えると今もまだどこかで研究を続行しているような気がしてならない･･･。
いや･･･博士が残した研究だけは、闇の中で確実に成長を続けていたようだ。
現にその"成果"の一部と思われるヤツらが、この施設を取りか

We cannot know how many were forced to become subjects, but based on the evidence, no less than twenty individuals were
involved; some of them taken deliberately to keep the corporation`s secret safe.
Where the Doctor is now I do not know. But considering the recent rapid growth of the Umbrella Corporation, I cannot imagine
that this research is continuing.
