G-VIRUS
The G-Virus is a virus with phenomenal vitality and reproductive abilities, discovered and refined by William Birkin, the father of Sherry Birkin. Those injected with the G-Virus lose their sense of self and go berserk, functioning to leave descendants of the virus by implanting a virus "embryo" into others with genetic information close to their own.
In the midst of the 1998 Raccoon Incident, William was attacked and fatally wounded by people seeking the G-Virus and injected it in an attempt to save himself. As a result, William was subjected to the virus' influence, and while acting according to its breeding instinct, he implanted a virus embryo into his closest genetic match, his daughter Sherry.
Although the progression of the virus within Sherry was halted when she was inoculated with the antibody Claire Redfield obtained, a small amount of the G-Virus remained in her body.
After the Raccoon Incident, Sherry was placed in the custody of the United States and subjected to various experiments in relation to the G-Virus. In the process, by the time she grew up she could completely control the virus' power, successfully allowing her body to reflect only a physical ability to regenerate, as well as a viral resistance.
In addition, it seems she looks younger than her actual age due to the G-Virus' influence.
There's a note written by someone involved in the U.S. research institution engaged in studying Sherry.

1998年のラクーン事件の最中、Ｇ-ウィルスを狙う人間に襲撃され、致命傷を負ったウィリアムは、ウィルスを自らに投与し、これを守ろうとした。結果、ウィルスの影響を受けたウィリアムは、繁殖本能に従い行動し、彼と遺伝子情報が最も近い娘のシェリーに、ウィルスの胚を植えつけるに至った。
シェリーは、クレア・レッドフィールドが入手した抗体を接種したことでウィルスの進行を食い止めたが、体内に微量のG-ウィルスを残すことになってしまった。
ラクーン事件以降、シェリーは合衆国の管理下に置かれ、Ｇ-ウィルスに関する様々な実験を受けることになった。その過程で、彼女はウィルスの力を完全に制御できるまでに成長し、肉体の再生能力やウィルス耐性のみを身体に反映させることに成功した。

THE G-VIRUS
William Birkin, father of Sherry Birkin, is responsible for the discovery of and research on the G-Virus, a virus with incredible regenerative and reproductive abilities. The G-Virus causes the host to lose rational thought, turning it into a violent creature that seeks to replicate the virus as an embryo in a person with blood ties to the original host.
During the Raccoon City Incident, an armed group sought to steal the G-Virus, and killed William Birkin in the process. Before his death, however, Birkin injected himself with the virus, thus consummating his life's work. Revived by the virus, Birkin sought out his nearest blood relative, his daughter Sherry, and injected her with an embryo for the G-Virus. Claire Redfield created an antidote to stop the embryo from mutating Sherry's body, but even after the expulsion of the embryo, trace amounts of the G-Virus remained in her body.
The result of the government's tests on her is that she has incredible regenerative abilities, including immunity to most viruses. Her youthful appearance is thought to be due to the G-Virus as well.

The small amount of G-Virus that remained in her body is still active, but produces no harmful effects. Only its regenerative properties have been activated, making her almost immortal in a way. This also is what makes her look so young, since it has halted her aging processes. Plus, she now has a strong resistance to all other viruses.
Unfortunately, I don't think this comes as a blessing to Sherry. She will always be different from everyone else which will probably cause her some pain. But I think she will pull through. She's strong, kind, and has such a positive outlook on life, no matter what the situation.
