ADA AND DEREK
Derek C. Simmons' creed is "stability."
The organization he commands, "The Family", pulls strings in the background, secretly maneuvering in the world behind-the-scenes in an effort to preserve global stability.
However his encounter with Ada Wong allowed the first discord to arise in his, until then, unwavering mind. Simmons admired Ada Wong as a talented spy, and with her close by, he assigned her many orders for the sake of his own ideals and ambitions.
At the time of the 1998 Raccoon incident though, after Ada learned Simmons was involved with executing the "Sterilization Strategy" that reduced Raccoon City to ashes, she began to regard Simmons as dangerous and cut all ties.
This single matter agitated Simmons for the first time. He harbored a distorted attachment and love for Ada, who possessed characteristics of a genius just like himself, and he was unable to accept the fact "Ada Wong left him." Simmons executed an insane project to "get Ada back."
There exists a note left by Simmons when he lost Ada.

彼が裏で操る組織「ファミリー」もまた、シモンズにとって安定した世界の維持のため、世界の裏側で暗躍している。
しかし、エイダ・ウォンとの出会いが、彼のそれまで平坦だった精神に初めての波風を立たせた。優秀なスパイであるエイダ・ウォンを高く評価していたシモンズは、己の理想と野望のために、彼女にいくつものオーダーを課し手元に置いていた。
しかし、1998年のラクーン事件の際、ラクーンシティを焼き払った「滅菌作戦」の実行にシモンズが深く関わっていたことを知ったエイダは、シモンズを危険視し始め、一切の関係を断ち切った。
この一件が、初めてシモンズに動揺をもたらした。彼は自分と同じ天才性を持つエイダに対して、歪んだ執着心・愛情を抱いており、「エイダ・ウォンが自分の元を去った」という事実を認めることが出来なかったのだ。シモンズは、「エイダを取り戻す」ため、狂気に満ちた計画を実行することになる。
シモンズがエイダを失った際に残した手記がある。

Derek Simmons believes in world stability, and he, along with The Family, believe in preserving that stability, even if they have to act illegally to do so.
When Derek first met Ada Wong, it caused a ripple in his normally logical and unperturbed personality. Ada's skills as a spy were unparalleled, and the missions she carried out for him were instrumental in his goals.
A fracture in their work relationship was formed when Ada learned that Derek was behind the operation to raze Raccoon City. Realizing it was dangerous to keep company with Derek, Ada left his employ, never looking back.
From that point on, Derek has been maniacal in his plans to get back Ada. Whether it was because he felt an emotional attachment to her or because he thought she was the only woman whose intelligence could match his own is unknown. But this monomania with Ada led him to put a sinister plan into action.
