A DEAL WITH THE UNITED STATES
There were two reasons why Sherry Birkin was placed under U.S. surveillance after the Raccoon incident.
One reason was to study the "G-Virus" dwelling within her body.
The other reason was she needed protection, as Sherry herself was a potential target of Albert Wesker, who also sought the G-Virus.
Afterwards, with the collapse of the organization Wesker belonged to and Wesker himself being killed in 2009 by the BSAA, spearheaded by Chris Redfield, there was no one in the world left to threaten her safety. No longer requiring protection, Sherry was approached with an offer to become a U.S. agent in return for being released from her house arrest.
Fearing the rise in bioterrorism in recent years would lead to more victims like herself, Sherry accepted this offer and was inducted as an agent under her guardian, Derek C. Simmons.
After receiving training as an agent, Sherry was ordered to protect C-Virus antibody carrier Jake Muller and transport him to the U.S.
A note Simmons left at the time Sherry became an agent has been found.

その後、ウェスカーが所属していた組織の崩壊と、2009年にウェスカー自身がクリス・レッドフィールド率いるＢＳＡＡによって殺害されたことで、彼女の身柄を脅かす者はこの世からいなくなった。保護の必要がなくなったシェリーは、軟禁を解くこととの交換条件として、合衆国のエージェントになることを持ちかけられた。
近年のバイオテロの増加によって、自分のような犠牲者が増えることを危惧していたシェリーは、この話を受け入れ、自分の保護者代わりを務めていたディレック・Ｃ・シモンズ付きのエージェントに就任した。
エージェントとしての教育を受けたシェリーは、Ｃ-ウィルスの抗体を持つジェイク・ミューラーの保護およびアメリカへの移送を命じられた。

In 2009, the organization Albert had worked for fell apart after he was eliminated by the BSAA on a mission in Africa. Sherry was thus freed from the threat posed by Albert and his organization. The government offered her a chance to leave their protective care if she agreed to come work for them.
Sherry learned of how bioweapons had caused the deaths of countless people around the world, and she couldn't bear to think of others enduring what she had experienced as a child. She readily agreed to work as a special agent under the direct supervision of Derek C. Simmons.
Agent Birkin's latest assignment is to find Jake Muller, the only known living individual with C-Virus antibodies, and escort him back to the United States.
