Ramon Salazar was the eighth castellan of the Salazar line. After the discovery of Las Plagas, the first castellan of the Salazar family sealed away the parasitic organisms in the hope that their terrible power would not be released unto the world.  Ramon was the last surviving member of the Salazar bloodline. Believing that his ancestors had committed acts of sin against the Los Illuminados cult and manipulated by Osmund Saddler, Ramon released the seal that they had placed upon Las Plagas and restored the Los Illuminados to power.

Encountered by Leon S. Kennedy during his mission in Spain to rescue Ashley Graham, the Ganado (Spanish for "cattle") were the mass result of the administration of the Las Plagas parasite by the Los Illuminados to the residents of a rural village in the Spanish countryside. The infected villagers were enslaved under the religious beliefs of Osmund Saddler, who also controlled the residents.
