t-Virus (short for "Tyrant Virus") was the collective name for a series of artificial mutagen RNA viruses designed as weaponized variants of the Progenitor Virus for military application. They inherited the DNA mutation property of the Progenitor Virus and drastically improved on it. The t-Virus is capable of inducing sudden mutations on a host and is the raw material most suitable for biological weapons creation. Upon infection, it rewrites DNA and mutates the host into a creature with different properties and abilities which cannot be found in the natural world.

Alexia Ashford was a brilliant scientist and the younger twin sister of Alfred Ashford and the successful result of the "CODE:Veronica Project" initiated by Alexander Ashford. To others, she is known as the creator of the t-Veronica virus.

Albert Wesker was one of the most promising subjects of the Wesker Project. Following his education, he became a Chief Researcher and prospective executive of Umbrella Corporation. He was an expert in bioengineering and became directly involved with research on the t-virus. He later became the leader of S.T.A.R.S. as Alpha Team Captain in Raccoon City.

Leon Scott Kennedy was an agent for the United States Government and a former police officer assigned to Raccoon City. Upon arriving in Raccoon City on his first day as a police officer, he became entangled in the biohazard caused by the t-virus and the activities of its creator, the Umbrella Corporation.
