Today I managed to secure an interview with Yasuhisa Kawamura, the scenario writer of BH3. We will present our questions in 1-2 days. Here is his videogame portfolio:
Quote:
Dino Crisis 1&3 (Movie and Event Part Scenario)
RESIDENT EVIL 3 (Planning, Scenario, File Text, All Worldview)
RESIDENT EVIL 4 (Part Planning)
Devil May Cry (Part Planning)
Clock Tower 3 (Movie Part Motion Capture Assistant Director)
Meiwaku seijin Panicmaker (Planning, Scenario, File text, All Worldview)
Blade Dancer PSP (Quest Scenario)
RESIDENT EVIL DEGENERATION (Special thanks)
Questions will mostly be focused on BH3, with one or two about his involvement with BH4 (presumably the scrapped versions) and Degeneration.

You want the members submit questions here to also be sent to him?
Looking forward to the interview.
White Umbrella Files - My Blog (in Portuguese)
Great work, Newsbot. I'll be away for a few days so make sure to ask him about the version of Bio4 he worked on (if DMC or otherwise, DETAILS!), about 6th laboratory, soldiers at hospital, etc., if Hunters were from Chicago branch, what materials he used in preparation to write the files, and 3 questions:
1) Could you please explain what sort of rivalry existed in Umbrella at the time of Bio3 (before it was shut down in Bio4)? You said in an interview that there was a development competition between the US and Europe branches. Did they ever attack each other to seize test subjects?
2) What is the connection between the treatment plant in Bio3 chemical plant in Bio2?
3) Could you explain the process Umbrella researchers used to develop the Nemesis parasite? What were your intentions for future games with this enemy?
And if there's room: "What were your duties during the initial planning stage of development and when did they begin? Did you work with Mr. Sugimura and Flagship?"
You should mention that the early files were written using a lot of katakana instead of hiragana, and were later revised.
GOOD LUCK!
"For instance, let’s assume that you developed the ultimate bio-weapon. Well, what would you do? Fate is now in your hands." -Albert Wesker
- While writing up the scenario, did he have any pre-conceived ideas of which run-through of the game he would consider canon (as in, which routes Jill took when faced against Nemesis, whether Nicholai really did die, etc, etc)?
- Given that many of the viruses and entities within the series have been linked in some way over the years (G-virus being discovered in Lisa Trevor's body after the Nemesis parasite and various other viruses were introduced, etc), did he ever have any intention for there be a link between the Nemesis Parasite and the Las lagas parasites (even if this didn't come to fruition)?
- Resident Evil 3 has a very prominent focus on the remaining S.T.A.R.S members, we play as Jill, we watch Brad die, we are saved by Barry, and Chris features in his own Epilogue. Was there ever any intention to involve Rebecca in the story at any point?
- Given that he worked on the overall worldview for RE3, is he aware of the discrepancy between the Sewage Treatment Facility in RE2 and the surrounding area of the R.P.D in RE3? Does he have any explanation for this?
- Was there anything major that he always planned to include in the events of RE3 that were later cut (for any reason) that he wishes to share now?
That's all I can think of at the moment...but thought it might be worth asking those...
Can't wait for this interview!
- Is there any in-universe reason for the Nemesis Parasite getting scrapped and not seen a similar creature again in the series?
- There's a Chinese RE3 guide that states there was more than one Nemesis T-Type creature created, similar to how on some Hong Kong mangas, one Nemesis creature escapes from the Paris labs. Was there any intention of creating more than one creature on the Nemesis backstory?
- Why are there corpses of US Special Forces soldiers on Raccoon's Hospital?
- Umbrella uses a train system to connect its facilities and provide them with supplies. Is the lab from BH2 and the Waste Facility from BH3 connected this way, or are they one and the same?
- On an earlier interview, you stated that the Mercenaries mini-game was a Pay-Per-View broadcast for VIP's. How accurate is this at this point in the series?
- From all the locations on the planning stages of the title, the Firehouse never made it to the final game. Was there any other location you intended to include but was later scrapped?
- Talking about the gameplay and how action-oriented the title was, Mikami described it as a game for hardcore fans. How would you better describe it story-wise?
- During the ending sequence of the game, we see the city getting bombed by a single missile, yet on BH Outbreak's ending we see a number of missiles striking the city one after another. Do you consider both scenarios can happen one after another or do you consider only one of those canon? Which one in that case?
- When development of BH3 started and hoy many time did it took to finish it?
- On the ending sequences of both BH2 and BH3, Leon and Jill foretell the demise of Umbrella. Was there any plans for a final showdown agains the evil company on any of the scrapped versions of BH4?
I don't know what else for now.
Sterling work Paul obtaining this interview ~ My questions would have related to the thread Davi Redfield started re. Dead Factory battle ~
http://projectumbrella.net/forum/P-12A-Waste-Treatment-Facility-Battle
and the reasoning behind those particular corpses in Raccoon's Hospital ?
Jessica... Lisa... Forgive me. May god justify my death in exchange for your safety. With my last breathe, I will pray that you both are safe. Farewell.….George Trevor
I wonder how many of these things he's actually going to remember.
Questions were sent yesterday, sorry yours didn't make it in time Ridley! However, I'm sure he'll have no problem answering them if I ask them some other time. He's a really nice guy.
Wow, very cool!
Excellent work News Bot.
