To my honest opinion on who I wish that charater may be, I do hope it is either Ark Thompson or Chris Redfield. Why these two? Ark would be Leons best friend and both fight together in this mess as buddies and we find the story behind them. Chris and Leon have never teamed up in any of the games and to be honest, I want to see those two team up and kick some B.O.W butt.

Plaga + T-viris idea to me seems extremely exciting and I would just love to see what it has to offer if it were true. 

Prequel is my best option so that we can get more information on RE5 and future games that may come.

By the way, I thought the story for RE5 was on 2008, what changed that?

As far as I know, RE5 was always set in 2009.  Where did you get the impression it was 2008?

As interesting as it would be to get some more background on characters like Ark, I hope you realize it's about as likely as melting Antarctic ice caps revealing the city of Atlantis.  Capcom wants to keep the series accessible to new gamers - people too young to remember side stories like Survivor, or the minutiae of the series such as the oft-mentioned rival organization to Umbrella.  Unfortunately for us, that means that a lot of plot gaps are never going to be filled.  More to the point, I don't think the scenario writers obsess about canon in quite the same way that, for instance, a lot of comic book writers (and readers) do.  I hold out hope that we might one day learn the nature of the Organization, or the fates of Sherry and Rebecca, but it's a slim hope at best.

I don't really know if there's much you could do with the T-Virus and Las Plagas that you can't do with LP alone.  The organism has shown itself to be spectacularly versatile in the hands of skilled genetic engineers.  Although I think a T-103 Tyrant infected with LP would give the Nemesis T-Type a run for its money.

I personally had the impression that the date of Resident Evil 5 was on 2008 because I believe that I saw a trailer saying "a decade later" or "10 years after the insident" or something along those lines. I cannot find it though neither on Google nor Youtube and I have nothing to back me up. But either case thank ou for clearing that up for me Hieronymous. 

You do have a point about that, Capcom would not go back to clear that up and it is sad that they never covered Sherry, Rebecca, Barry, and a whole lot of the others whom have not had been explained.

Just a heads up that effects company Digital Frontier are currently advertising for animators and artists for Damnation so I wouldn't expect this film any time soon. Looks like it will be released late 2012 unfortunately.

It was always slated for 2012 anyway.

Honestly, if they are looking for additional animations and such, 2012 seems like a optimistic release date if there still needs that much work done. Unless it's just animation touch-ups.

That doesn't mean anything. They could be expanding their company or need additional staff for another project.

Huh, they have job openings for pretty much all plazas. And it says the project actually started on August 10th of this year. Does anyone knows how much time took Degeneration to be made so we can have a timeframe to go by? Is one and a half year enough?

Well, the first teaser for Degeneration was released late 2007, and the movie was out in fall 2008.

The end of next year ... hm, I can't wait. Hopefully Capcom finds some real experts for this project. After all those stupid live action movies it will be so nice to see a good RE movie for a change. Does anyone here know if there have been any new trailers for Damnation?

As far as I know, absolutely nothing.  I'd forgotten that this thing even existed.

Yep, just that trailer which was also on the Afterlife DVD I believe.  Still should be a good film though, if it's like Degeneration I mean, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Why kill Leon? And I've been hoping that it's Billy Coen.  It's been too long and we need more background on him.  Like what he's been doing.

Because it's purely in enhance now. There is nothing wrong with that. I mean it's better now than before, especially the graphics. The story concept is more clear now. The fighting scenes are amazing and mostly the characters are new like in Resident Evil 6. So for me it's good. I like it very much.

It looks as if this film may be a prequel to Biohazard 6.

I was thinking the same, what with the whole "European incident 6 months beforehand."

I'm starting to think that maybe the guy in the trailer is Chris then...

I'm hoping it is Chris just because I'd like to see him and Leon working together. They could be a really good team and they both already know about each other thanks to Claire.

Be cool if it is a prequel to Biohazard 6 but we aren't that lucky very often if ever.

After the awesome RE6 Captivate trailer got leaked, a line in it got me thinking...

There is a reference in it that describes that what's happening in China is the same as what happened in "Eastern Europe six months ago".

I believe that this is directly linked to Damnation. Certainly gets my vote that Damnation will be a prequel.

That was every one's intital thought, but the 'Eastern Europe six months ago' is actually Chris's playable flashback scenario in Bio 6 where Ada apparently decimates his entire team which 'changes his outlook on life' according to Famitsu.

Looks like Damnation will be another standalone story with standalone characters. Or perhaps Jessica and Raymond will return in that one?

Damnation will probably have a link to Bio 6 but probably in a subtle sense akin to Degeneration's link to Bio 5. Perhaps we will see the origins of the C Virus here?

This is one of the biggest disappointments from the new news - let's hope there is more links than what Degeneration was to RE5 - i.e. one Tricell shot at the end.
