Why the hell do they keep turning Resident Evil from Horror to Action?
I don't see a problem. This movie is actually going to show us B.O.W.s being used for their original purpose --warfare.
I couldn't agree more, Irish. It's about time we get to see B.O.W.s being deployed against military targets. This is a film, not a game, so I have no problem with it being a little more action-orientated. It's just a shame they didn't change Leon's hair.

Regarding the turn that the series took back in 2004, with the games, I agree & appreciate where you are coming from AW.....but I think we both accept the reason for B.O.W. production in the first place, and a film format is the best way to showcase this dynamic {even if we would both love a CGI of Remake !} This looks more promising that Degeneration.

It is my sincere wish that Capcom kills off Leon along with Wesker.
I could not agree more. The series is crying out for a major character death on the good side of things. As much as I love Jill as a character, I wished her demise had been real in RE5.
The last meaningful good guy to be killed off was Brad Vickers, and he wasn't even a major player. I think that is part of the reason why the series has lost its focus a little. There seems to be an invincibility around Chris, Jill, Claire and Leon and that removes a bit of the fear, knowing they are always going to survive no matter what the danger.
Hopefully Revelations and later Damnation will prove me wrong, but I'm not holding my breath. Chris, Jill and Leon will save the day as usual, and another one-dimensional bad guy will only be given a single game/movie to prove his worth before he is killed off.

The "Alice" effect. Great point, Batty. Capcom should read Kirkman's comics and take notes. Lots and lots of notes.

On the major character death side of things, I'd like them to either confirm Steve or Sherry dead already (it's been over a decade and your telling me Claire still hasn't stopped searching for them?!), bring them the fuck back and do something with them in a game (the latter is far less likely) or (this last one I have my fingers crossed for the most) eliminate Ada. She's broken rank far too many times for The Organization to still consider her a stable asset; her affections have made her expendable. She should die her next appearance (of course she needs a good role played just before that, but still). I mean, kill off the FAR more iconic and valuable Leon and let her walk? I think not. Sadly, Patrick's files show it to be very unlikely Wesker killed her as I had wanted (he was focused on the old man), unless they met in person for the first time between 2006 and 2009. Doubtful, but eh.
Sorry for getting too off-topic. As for this film itself, I honestly cannot wait. The minute I saw Lickers crawling out of the fire and in conjunction with military warfare, I almost jumped up with joy. I think it's rather obvious that the silhouette at the end is Angela. My only regret is that she is still around. I was never too keen on her as a character honestly. Aside from the emotional side of things to reflect the series' sense of character loss (her relationship with Curtis and Greg's transformation hitting her the hardest), added with some tiny romantic humor involving Leon (I could not stop laughing at those extras where Claire got pissed at them and such), she had no purpose as a character and I frankly hope a Licker gives her a bloody end or a tank atomizes her. To boot, she's so damn annoying. Hell, I kinda wanted Leon to shoot her by accident right there in that trailer!
Steve is dead. He always has been dead. I do not understand why people think he still may be alive. Wesker said that to taunt Claire, nothing more. He was infected with T-Veronica, which does not bring people back from the dead with superhuman powers like the experimental virus does.
As for Sherry, she was safe with the US Government and I'm sure Leon would have confirmed this with Claire. She probably was placed with foster parents after that. There's no need for Claire to search for her. She has no future role in the story, I don't see why she is of any importance.
And Ada? I wouldn't say she has broken rank with the organization, after all she placed herself at great personal risk in betraying Wesker to prove her loyalty to them. It was Wesker who was pissed at her involvement with Leon, not The Organization. She got her jobs done in the end, both in RE2 and RE4.
We need Chris, Jill or Leon to cop it to bring out a sense of shock I think.
But yeah, movie looks cool. B.O.W.s roaming the very war-like environments they were created for.

I think it's great that we get to SEE B.O.W.s in a war setting instead of just reading files with combat data. I wonder what year this is set in. If Hunters were to make an appearance, which ones would show up? Delta was the last model if I remember correctly. I'm just hoping that there are more B.O.W.s, hell, a Tyrant would be great too

Well the trailer for this excites me more than the one for Degeneration did.
I only hope the mocap and mip-synching is better in this one. Those faults killed Degeneration for me. I'll also keep my fingers crossed for better villain[s].
On the unknown guy at the end, I say that if he's an existing protagonist he's either Billy or Carlos (this is judging only by the fact that he appears to have longish and messy hair) but it's really hard to tell. He could be a completely new character or a returning character, and his silhouette might just be misleading.
Given the warzone setting, I'd say the mystery man is Krauser. You kill him at least 6 times in RE4 and it never says he's outright dead in anything after 4 (possibly the plaga regenrated his wounds). Warzones are the only place he feels comfortable, and without Wesker giving him everything he needs, he has to do it himself mercenary style (just like he said in DSC)

I never considered it was just a taunt. I usually think they put stuff in for a reason, but I guess Wesker's tone was misleading. As for Sherry, I completely forgot she was with the government. Again, I took her hopes that Claire would come back for her to be very significant thoughts, but now that I think about it, her chances of returning are as good as Ashley's. Would be cool to see her in a minor role or cameo once more, but I understand we don't really need her. And Ada, ok I guess there's nothing to imply she actually pissed them off with Leon, but I'd still rather have her meet an end than Leon, Chris or Jill. Now that I look closer at the silhouette, I guess it could very well be a male, but I still think it somewhat resembles Angela.
Yeah, Leon must die, they should have killed him like they intended to do in CODE: Veronica, before they turned his character into the disgusting mess he is now
About the mystery man, it's probably Chris, but I'm hoping it's Ark, he deserves to come back (and take Leon's place )
Yeah, Leon must die, they should have killed him like they intended to do in CODE: Veronica, before they turned his character into the disgusting mess he is now
What makes you say this?? Not that I LOVE Leon or anything, but still I don't see anything wrong with him either. And he's kinda more popular than Chris.

He was cool when he was that rookie cop that no one listen to, now he's this super agent that thinks he can kill all the bad guys with cool stunts and crapy one-liners.
Leon was supposed to appeared in CODE: Veronica in place of Steve (that's why Steve had hair like Leon on the Dreamcast version), and killed, but because Leon was so popular they scrapped that and created Steve
I have heard before that Leon was originally set to appear in CODE: Veronica, but I have never actually seen any official source stating as such. I always just figured that so many fans assumed Steve was Leon in early screenshots/trailers due to their similar hairstyles, and this widespread belief somehow over time became accepted as "fact."
@ the picture, I would assume by the size of him to not be Chris just because he is carrying an Ak47 and he is to small. I would go with Billy or Ark maybe. Most likely though a new character.
What about that guy sitting in the chair in the Revelations video? I haven't kept up with that topic though, so it may have been decided which character that was.

Wrong forum to post that topic in, mate. But we're equally as unsure who that is as we are about this person facing Leon.
I'm gonna say the mystery character is HUNK unmasked. It kinda makes sense. Wasn't he working for the European branch of Umbrella? Perhaps after the downfall he became a mercenary and wound up fighting in European warzone. It would be a nice tie-in to RE2 and not as predictable. Hopefully we'll see Ada too, just because it has been a while since RE4 and the Leon/Ada relationship is the only major story arc really still up in the air. As far as the villain..what did happen to Nicolai?
Loved Degeneration and I'm really looking forward to this!
As stated above, it's not Krauser, because the guy's too small in the arms, and it's not Chris, again, because the arms are too small. And, you know, Chris is in Revelations with Jill.
It's not any of the female characters. The jawline and build is wrong. Ada is notorious for not wearing combat gear. Claire would know Leon on sight and he would know her on sight. Ect.
It's not Barry, because this guy's clean-shaven. Admittedly, a guy can get a shave in 10 years, but the facial proportions are different.
It could be, as stated above, Billy, Ark, or another new character. Or maybe it's Carlos? (Only one thing irks me about that. That means his hairstyle is like in the movies.) A problem about Ark, though. How many people played RE:Survivor? Maybe it's Bruce? And how many people played Dead Aim?
