My ranking constantly changes overtime, but there are some games that do not change positions :

1) Resident Evil Code Veronica

2) Resident Evil 3

3) Resident Evil (original)

4) Resident Evil Revelations 2

5) Resident Evil Revelations

6) Resident Evil 2

7) Resident Evil Ø

8) Resident Evil 4

9) Resident Evil 6

10) Resident Evil (remake)

11) Resident Evil 5

Honorable mention goes to Darkside Chronicles. I quite like this spin-off and I even prefer it to some mainline titles, but it's an exception so I don't know where it will be placed. Perhaps between Revelations and RE2.

I will try to explain a few things, because I can see some of you saying "how dare you put RE6 above Remake !!". I'm not judging the quality, here. But rather how I feel about these games right now.

RE1 original was my favourite for a LONG time. But now, I don't feel the same nostalgia when I play it. I just see an old dated game and that saddens me quite a bit. But, with that game, it was surely the best RE experience I had by far.

As for remake, I never really enjoyed it. Because I'm constantly comparing it to my experience with the original, and the difference between the two is huge.

I enjoy Revelations 2, Zero et RE6 better than before now. On the contrary, I can't stand RE5 anymore. I always thought that Wesker's presence kind of redeemed the game, but not anymore.

1 - Resident Evil: Revelations 2

2 - Resident Evil 2

3 - Resident Evil 6

4 - Resident Evil CODE:Veronica

5 - Resident Evil 3

6 - Resident Evil 5

7 - Resident Evil

8 - Resident Evil Outbreak

9 - Resident Evil 4

10 - Resident Evil REmake

11 - Resident Evil Zero

12 - Resident Evil Outbreak File#2

13 - Resident Evil Revelations

14 - Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles

15 - Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles

16 - Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

Note, I love them all (minus ORC, purely based on gameplay) so this ranking should be taken with a grain of salt. They're based mainly on how much I enjoy playing them and how much I enjoy the stories.

2. BIOHAZARD REVELATIONS 2

3. biohazard

Not necessarily in any order. Most replay value.

Yes same here although wouldn't have that order but certainly my top three as it happens the best examples of survival horror in their play modes.  First person,  over-the-shoulder and tank

3. Resident Evil 5

4. Resident Evil 3

5. Resident Evil 2

6. Resident Evil 4

7. Resident Evil 0

8. RE: Outbreak

I guess that's it, I don't even care about the rest to add them to the list.

Edit: Actually... I just realized I forgot about Revelations, that game surprised me, it was more than I expected. And I like it more than RE4 so.

5.5 RE: Revelations

5.5 RE: Revelations

We share a lot in common regarding the first 3 games! ahahah
They are, in my opinion, the best games in the series according to each of their proposals.
RE Remake is easily the best Survival Horror game ever made and it was creepy as hell, especially Lisa Trevor with that creepy voice calling for her mother ahah
That game is a masterpiece, it even added some extra puzzles and areas. Not gonna lie, I must've played that game for about 50 times, on the Gamecube and now on the PS4.
Code Veronica was the game I felt more attached to, I enjoyed it very much. It was bigger than all of its predecessors and had a very interesting story, clever puzzles, optional tasks (Giving the Hemostat to Rodrigo, saving him with Chris to get the machine guns etc) and the adventure wasn't foccused on one specific place only. I just love Resident Evil Code Veronica!
Resident Evil 5 is easily one the best action games of last gen, it was a top quality game with fantastic visuals, gameplay, voice acting, extra content (Lost In Nightmares and Desperate Escape) and replay value! It holds the most important story of the series since it tied up every loose end left by its predecessors, thanks to RE5 we know everything regarding Umbrella, Spencer, Wesker, Progenitor Virus and a lot more... A fantastic Resident Evil game with great quality, enjoyed every second of it.
Ohh, not to mention the Wesker boss battles! xD
I'm actually playing RE5 on the PS4 for the first time right now, bought it last week.
I also didn't care for a few RE games like ORC and Umbrella Corps so I omitted them and I don't care about RE7 that much too but decided to include it because it is a numbered sequel.

10. Resident Evil Survivor

11. Resident Evil 7

12. Resident Evil 6

13. Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

14. Resident Evil Dead Aim

15. Resident Evil Gaiden

Omitting Umbrella Corps. since I haven't played it and I'm certain I would have hated it, as well as Darkside/Umbrella Chronicles and Mercenaries 3D (I know theres no comparison there haha) simply because I don't care to fit them in with fledged out titles. Also, Gaiden and Dead Aim are only down so far due to quality issues (with Gaiden) and a simple fact that I don't care about Dead Aim in any form. Resident Evil 6 and Operation Raccoon City are definitely two games that really made me disappointed in the series, I've given them both multiple chances and just can't find anything enjoyable with them. I'd consider them the definitive low-point for the main franchise, and it has carried over to an extent into Resident Evil 7.

Oh right! I just noticed. The top 3 are the best.

I agree with everything you said, REmake is my favorite by far, I like everything about that game, especially the aesthetics and the story, I don't care about review scores but if I did this would be a perfect 10 for me. This game was the result of many years of polish that turned the survival horror archetype into a masterpiece. And since capcom has changed so much, I believe we'll never get another game like this again.

Code Veronica was the one that had the biggest impact on me, it's the most important one in the list imo, because it set the tone for the rest of the series. It's because of this game that Claire became the main female lead of the series, Chris became the main male lead or "hero" if you will, and that's because he's Wesker's nemesis, and by default Wesker became the main villain. That's how I see it anyway, some people who prefer Leon might beg to differ haha.

Hm Biohazard 5... It's the game in the series that I played the most and also the one that I have more copies of, I recently got the ps4 version and I'm loving it (I don't appreciate the fact that they messed up the hitbox of the knife, but oh well) It's weird, but, even after all these years the more I play it the more I like it. Now, I must say there are a few things I really dislike about it, but it's not enough to ruin the experience for me. Lost in Nightmares is one of my favorite parts, actually, the final sequence of Wesker vs Chris and Jill is my favorite moment in the history of the series. And yes, you said something important. This game closes multiple story arcs, and that's something I love about it. The subplot of progenitor is one of my favorite things ever, the idea of retrovirus elements in the genome is very real and it fascinates me.

About RE7, I didn't add it to the list because I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it, I do like this new direction for the series (story wise). But I think the game itself is not THAT great, form a creative perspective, and the gameplay and enemy design gets old quickly. BTW it was good to hear about HCF again, I'd like to see them in action one more time.

i think you should give Dead Aim another shot! it's a great hybrid title and a system that could have been used in RE7 if they felt like it.

the graphics are pretty good for PS2 especially when you disintegrate the naked zombies on the island. the main story may be a bit "meh" but the background story contained in the files ties in nicely with Umbrella Chronicles and sows the seeds for umbrella's demise into the blackmarket and the prolification of the t-virus.

it is also arguable that the TG Virus is umbrella's finest BOW product when it fuses with a host and the Hunter Elite the most hardened hunter version that could never be replicated - the next hunter was the Hunter Delta and that was a modified 121 alpha with minor improvements. Elite was a major step up.

Also Dead Aim is a fun game which at the end of the day is the most important element.

my 2 cents

About RE7, I didn't add it to the list because I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it, I do like this new direction for the series (story wise). But I think the game itself is not THAT great, form a creative perspective, and the gameplay and enemy design gets old quickly. BTW it was good to hear about HCF again, I'd like to see them in action one more time.

Yes, RE Remake was simply fantastic, no words can actually describe how much I love that game!
Code Veronica indeed set the tone for the rest of the series. Chris Redfield is definitely the main protagonist of the series, I agree! I mean, c'mon... He holds much more achievements than any other character in the series and he's been here ever since the first game. RE1 introduced Chris and Wesker and by the time of Code Veronica they were already main hero and main antagonist. About Claire, I kind of disagree since Jill is the female character who achieved the most throughout these series but I also love Claire and enjoyed her adventures better than Jill's.
I also loved the areas that were chosen for the game, like Rockfort Island and the Antartic. Like I said, bigger and better than all of its predecessors.
Speaking of Code Veronica, rumours may indicate that the game is coming to new gen consoles. Although, I'd much rather see a Remake of it in a few years (let's just hope).
Code Veronica is another masterpiece and deserves a full Remake!
About RE5, I'm near the end of the game right now! Pretty solid 60fps and some slight changes. It still is the awesome RE5 I've played, just a better performance (obviously, since the game is being played on a PS4). The game closed multiple story arcs in the most coherent way and being able to fight against Wesker is a dream come true to any fan of the series ahah (I assume).
RE5 is just like Code Veronica and the Remake, I can't get enough of those games and just like you, the more I play it the more I like it!
The Progenitor and Uroboros are really awesome elements in the game and the B.O.W's generated by them just scream pure Resident Evil to me. RE5 is freaking awesome and the best modern RE game to me.
Well, RE7 had a few things I enjoyed about it but it is just a forgettable game in my book, no memorable enemies, characters or locations and a spin-off kind of story. The lack of a variety of enemies also makes it pretty monotonous and the replay value is almost non-existing since the game is forgettable itself.
Not to mention that it might be the game that will make me give up on the future sequels since they pretty much srewed up my favorite character with that horrible design... RE7? Meh...

I feel that there were two major let downs with REV 2.

1) The Graphics

2) You were hardly ever by yourself.

I loved the first half of RE 7.

The first 3 games of the series are masterpieces.

The Remake is the greatest vg of all time.

@ Captain Redfield

I meant Claire is the main lead in the sense that she got more time under the spotlight, Jill got her own game too, but overall it feels like a side story. I think the events in CVX are more important than events in RE3.

Jill came back in RE5 but she's just a secondary character. What they've done with Jill in that game is one of the things I hate, I'll never forgive them for neglecting Jill just to make Sheva look good, anyway...

Personally, I prefer Jill over Claire. Actually I was thinking it's a perfect time for a come back. She should be the main lead of the next game, and considering all the trauma that she went through, I think there's a good opportunity to make a more grounded game with her. And perhaps, if done well, this could be her last game. These characters are getting old, they'll have to retire soon.

And, about RE7. I don't think there's any chance that guy is Chris. Maybe we can take this to another thread?

You know, I might end up investing in another copy sometime soon and I'll give it another roundabout. I do like a lot of the enemy concepts, but I was always a little turned off towards how ridiculous Morhpeus' character was and how random T+ G = Electric Powers seemed to be as a result of combining the two viruses. If I do, I'll let you know if my outlook has changed haha.

All the canon elements from Dead Aim have been butchered / cut.

With the death of Sugimura / Flagship none of the story elements carried over, such as US-STRATCOM.

everything was swept under the rug and Capcom never looked back.

this game will never be ported / made available digitally or nothing, it will be a footnote in the RE Legacy.

shame.

Yeah, we should definitely take this to another thread xD
I like Jill and Claire the same, I just enjoyed Claire's adventures a lot more... Yeah, they are getting old, let's see what the future has in store for them.

Not bad Yoke, you didn't think Rev 2 was better than 1 though? At least it tied in with Lost in Nightmares.

Oh if I was going by story it would be higher on the list. Even though I love LiN (Patrick is Glenn Arias!), I do feel it dropped the ball with Alex.

What puts a game in my "shit tier" is if I had trouble beating it. I don't mean that I found the game hard. I mean the game just wasn't fun to play. At the end of the day, I think that's how all games should be rated.

Yeah I don't have a hard on for RE2 like most people do lol. RE2 was one of the last games I played back when I was getting into the series.

lets see what they end up doing with the remake {#emotions_dlg.confused}

I'd just like to update a little bit. I recently replayed Operation: Raccoon City all the way through again. I enjoyed it a bit more this time around, and it definitely has more redeemable qualities than RE6 in my eyes (For one, it's actually fun to play). Not gonna update my list, but I felt like it was worth mentioning.

Nice, I still have the Spec Ops DLC I paid for way back in the day and haven't gotten around to play yet.

That campaign is a lot more fun to play than the main one LMAO
ORC is one of those games that are insignificant in my eyes, they are no part of the RE story. Just a pure spin-off game that was meant to be played and nothing else.
ORC has a few bugs and technical issues but I had a lot of fun with the multiplayer modes, despite the automatic team selection be a little unfair.
C'mon, the game places similar ranks in the same team, like 4 RANK 98 players vs 4 RANK 45 players... There's no balance now. It was fun wen it came out when all players had similar ranks. For example, I'm a RANK 98 player but I've seen a lot of RANK 100 nowadays players that pretty much decimate my team (according to November 2016, the last time I played ORC).
With even the multiplayer mode being that unfair atrocity, I'd say that ORC is pretty much a dead and forgettable game.

yeah - don't care to much about all the silly mobile games like confidential report as well as ORC, Gaiden and RE Mercenaries.

I guess I like my canon RE stuff much more (-:

I mean why should I care about something that didn't happen right?

In terms of gameplay none of these games are great either.

Neither is Umbrella Corp but at least it's canon.
