WESKER'S REPORT "TYRANT PROJECT PROBLEM"
Our research went into the third stage.
Obedient, proficient memory power, observes orders quickly.
A trained, strengthened body, able to be used without rest, and without expressing complaint.
The ultimate Bio Organic Weapon for combat, a package only ideal as a soldier...
It was to create a monster nicknamed "Tyrant."
However, there was a large barrier in the research from the beginning.
The acquisition of an "organism" to become the basis of the Tyrant was difficult.
This is because human adaptation as a "Tyrant" genetically was very limited.
A property of the "t-Virus" was the main cause there.
Although the "t-Virus variant" for producing "Zombies" and "Hunters" was adaptable for almost all humans, there was a problem which considerably decayed brain tissue.
It cannot become a "Tyrant" if it cannot maintain some intelligence.
In order to overcome the problem, Birkin extracted a new "variant" which suppressed the influence on the brain to a minimum if it completely adapted.
However, for the variant, there were extremely few humans with the genes to adapt to it.
The Gene Analysis Section's simulation said that it was a ratio of "one in ten million."
Other than this, they merely become a Zombie.
When research progressed, we should have been able to develop a different type of "t-Virus", which much more humans adapted to as a "Tyrant."
But in order to advance the research, a human with full adaptation to the new "variant" was needed first.
However, the talk of searching the whole nation of the United States for experiment bodies and scraping up only several dozen people was unrealistic.
Out of necessity, we took measures to gather samples by force from other laboratories, which were relatively close to the ideal gene pattern.
We did not seem to be able to easily remove the reef which we ran aground.
Great anxiety covered us.

私たちの研究は、第3段階に入った。
従順で記憶力に長け、命令をきびきびと遵守する。
鍛えられた肉体を休むことなく行使し、不平を漏らさない。
兵士としての理想だけをﾊﾟｯｹｰｼﾞした、究極の戦闘用生体生物兵器…
通称「ﾀｲﾗﾝﾄ」と呼ばれるﾓﾝｽﾀｰを創り出す事が、それだ。
しかし、その研究には当初から大きな障害があった。
ﾀｲﾗﾝﾄの基となる「生体」の入手が困難だったのだ。
遺伝子的に「ﾀｲﾗﾝﾄ」として適応する人間が、極めて限られていたためである。
そこには「tｰｳｨﾙｽ」の性質が要因としてあった。
「ｿﾞﾝﾋﾞ」や「ﾊﾝﾀｰ」を製造する為の「tｰｳｨﾙｽ変異株」はほとんどの人間に適応したのだが、脳組織を著しく衰退させる問題があった。
ある程度の知能が維持できねば「ﾀｲﾗﾝﾄ」には成り得ない。
ﾊﾞｰｷﾝはその問題を克服するべく、完全適応すれば脳への影響を最低限に押さえる新しい「変異株」の抽出を行った。
だが、その変異株に対しては、適応する遺伝子を持った人間が極めて少なかった。
遺伝子解析班のｼﾐｭﾚｰﾄでは「1000万人に1人」の割合だという。
それ以外は、ただｿﾞﾝﾋﾞとなるだけだったのだ。
研究が進めば、もっと多くの人間が「ﾀｲﾗﾝﾄ」として適応する、別のﾀｲﾌﾟの「tｰｳｨﾙｽ」も開発できるはずだった。
しかしその研究を進める為にも、先ず新しい「変異株」に完全適応する人間が必要とされた。
とは言え、ｱﾒﾘｶ全土を探しても数十人しか存在しないような者を実験体としてかき集めるという話しは現実味がない。
やむなく、理想の遺伝子ﾊﾟﾀｰﾝに比較的近いｻﾝﾌﾟﾙを、他の研究所などから無理矢理集めるという策しか取り得なかった。
乗り上げた暗礁は、簡単に取り除けそうにない。
大きな不安が、私たちを覆っていた。
