Veronica Ashford was the ancestral matriarch, first lady and founder of the British aristocratic Ashford family. She was revered by all of her later descendants for her intelligence and beauty. Veronica had one son, Stanley Ashford. 1 2 3
History
At a very young age, Veronica demonstrated extraordinary aptitude in every subject. She was especially well-versed in mathematics, biology, and linguistics. By the age of 10, she already had a postgraduate education, and was fluent in 10 languages. With her good looks and captivating manner of speaking, she would charm everyone she came into contact with. As a result, she naturally won over faithful servants and entered into an aristocratic lifestyle. She received a golden teacup from her butler as a commemorative, starting the family tradition of handing down an item to the new family master.
Following her death, Veronica's body was embalmed and laid to rest in the basement of the Ashford family manor in England. It is from these remains that her 6th generation descendant Alexander Ashford extracted viable genetic material and managed to identify and extract a gene which controls the level of intelligence. The "CODE:Veronica Project" begun by Alexander, dedicated to creating a "reincarnation" of Veronica. This would later develop into the birth of Alexia Ashford, an almost complete clone of Veronica, save for the artificial modification of the gene which controlled her intelligence, which ultimately stole away her humanity.
Veronica's name was also used by Alexander as the password used to trigger the self-destruct system in the Umbrella Antarctic Base.
