Title

Sixth Laboratory

The Sixth Laboratory was one of the annexed R&D laboratories that reported directly to Umbrella Headquarters. Based in France, the U.E. Sixth Laboratory was one of the premier facilities operated by the Europe branch of Umbrella Corporation. Its most notable credits are the creation of the Nemesis parasitic organism, and the resulting Nemesis-T Type.

History

In 1988, while the American branch was developing the Tyrant (T-002 Type), the facility commenced the "Nemesis Project", the development of a parasitic organism which could boost the intelligence, control and attack capabilities of any t-virus B.O.W. The result of this project culminated in the Nemesis parasite (dubbed, NE-α), a B.O.W. capable of controlling and enhancing other B.O.W.s. Following the beginning of the project, a prototype sample of the parasite was shipped from the facility to the Arklay Laboratory. 1

Over the course of the next decade, the Sixth Laboratory continued research and development on the Nemesis parasite, including experiments on the Cerberus B.O.W. Meanwhile, the Arklay B.O.W. research team decided to attempt their own 3rd generation B.O.W. project, inspired by the Sixth research team's attempts. This resulted in the T-A.L.O.S. project. 2

At some point, the facility also ordered a quantity of VT-J98 from the Umbrella Sales Office in Raccoon City. 3

Following the Mansion Incident in 1998, the inability to control the Tyrant T-002 alerted Umbrella's researchers. Under a direct order from Umbrella Headquarters, the research team at the Sixth Laboratory devised a project to administer the NE-α to a mass produced Tyrant T-103. The result was the deadly Nemesis-T Type, nicknamed 'Pursuer'. In order to collect combat data on the new Tyrant, it was given the objective of eliminating the surviving S.T.A.R.S. members. The researchers educated the new B.O.W. through making it memorize photographs and visual images and in September 1998, it was deployed to Raccoon City.
