Title

Sheena Island

Sheena Island was a solitary island in Europe which became one of the most important sites for the Umbrella Corporation. The weapons plant on the island was mainly focused on developing a new mass producing system to create a new type of Tyrant, and was known as the "Tyrant Plant". Following the biohazard which occurred on the island, it is regarded as a "second Raccoon City".

History

At some point, the Umbrella Corporation purchased the entire town on the island and moved researchers and their families there. The bio-weapon "Tyrant" became the main product line for R&D on the island. To accommodate this, a large-scale weapons plant and laboratory were constructed, with Umbrella investing billions of dollars into the city and its facilities. Several new buildings were built or renovated to accommodate the needs of the Umbrella employees living on the island, and the Tyrant Plant was covered up as an Umbrella chemical plant for manufacturing medicine. Umbrella employees living on the island could pay for services in many of the island’s recreational facilities with their ID cards.

In 1998, a young elite from Umbrella Headquarters named Vincent Goldman was promoted as Commander of the Tyrant Plant on Sheena Island. At some point, the chemical known as Beta Hetero Nonserotonin was discovered, allowing for the mass production of the Tyrant (T-103 Type), the company's most highly developed and versatile B.O.W. Following the allocation of the combat data from the prototype Tyrant (T-002 Type) during the Mansion Incident, the data was used to improve upon the T-103 type and mass production began by August. At some point Goldman advanced a project to develop a new type of B.O.W. using genetic selection, led by the director of the Genetic Engineering Research Department, Dr. Klein. This project culminated in the Hypnos-T Type.

On October 7, Goldman called each section of the city together for a briefing on the report on the destruction of Raccoon City. Over the course of this week, the city's inhabitants lost confidence due to the biohazard in Raccoon City, and the prison guards became focused on information gathering, making the supervision of the teenage prisoners lax. On October 9, a group of 20 teenage prisoners gathered firearms and attempted to escape from the prison on the island. In response, Goldman hunted all of them down and murdered them in cold blood. Afterwards, Goldman ordered the prison chief to report the incident as a mass suicide to prevent Umbrella HQ from finding out and damaging Goldman's career prospects. On October 20, the prison staff received a reply from HQ to the report of the mass suicide which indicated that HQ had no suspicions and would round up new prisoners soon.

In November, a PI named Ark Thompson travelled to the island in order to investigate Umbrella's activities at the request of Leon S. Kennedy. On November 7, Lott Klein, the 12 year old son of Dr. Klein, reported the infiltration of a "spy" onto the island to Goldman. The spy in question was Thompson. On November 9, Thompson posed as Goldman in order to gain access to the city sewers, which were run by a janitor named Andy Holland. On November 22, an enraged Goldman released the t-virus throughout the island under the guise of an accident and planned to escape to headquarters. Before doing so, he hunted down Thompson. Two days later, Thompson had infiltrated the main Umbrella institution on the city's main street and managed to destroy a part of the laboratory in the building, engulfing the entire building in flames. Goldman confronted Thompson in his own burning office. In the ensuing struggle, Thompson stole a helicopter and attempted to escape, but Goldman's gun-fire caused it to crash.

Awakening in a small courtyard, Thompson had no memory of his identity and attempted to escape the city. In response to the biohazard, Umbrella HQ initiated a mission dubbed "CODE:Blanket" and deployed the "Umbrella Trashsweepers" (Under Taker unit) to eliminate any witnesses and set off the self-destruct sequence. Meanwhile, Goldman released many of the Tyrants contained on the island and began to hunt down Thompson once again. Taking the surviving Klein siblings with him, Thompson managed to escape from the island.
