Paraguas Line

Paraguas Line (Spanish; lit. "Umbrella Line") was a subsidiary company of the Umbrella Corporation based in Spain. It officially operated as a luxury cruise liner company.

History

In the late 1980s, Paraguas Line purchased the Queen Zenobia and its two sister ships, Queen Semiramis and Queen Dido which were scheduled to be junked after the rise of air travel. The three ships had their steam turbines replaced with an electric diesel propulsion system. Their hold and cabin areas were expanded, and they were upgraded with the latest technology. Laboratories were constructed for virus research and B.O.W. development. After their restoration, Paraguas Line began offering cruises around the world and the ships were eventually harbored in the Mediterranean sometime after 1995 for their cruises around Africa.

In 2003, the company went virtually bankrupt as a result of "poor management" and the three sister ships were repossessed.
