The Organization

"The Organization" was the rival company of the Umbrella Corporation which secretly operated behind the scenes of world events. Little is known about its origins and history outside of its involvement with Albert Wesker, but it is believed to have been a pharmaceutical company with access to highly advanced technology. It also commanded a Special Forces unit known as "H.C.F." (Hive or Host Capture Force) for the purpose of capturing organisms for use in biological research. Its actual name and true nature remain unknown.

History

Espionage Activities (Pre-1998)

The Organization sent one of its spies known by the alias of Ada Wong to the Arklay Laboratory, one of the main American laboratories belonging to the Umbrella Corporation. Whilst there, Ada managed to gain information about the t-virus and entered into a false relationship with the chief researcher of the facility; John Clemens. With knowledge of Umbrella's B.O.W. market, The Organization decided that it wanted to take it over from Umbrella, but lacked the necessary research and the most important aspect of the B.O.W. program: the t-virus. One of the B.O.W.s they expressed particular interest in was the Hunter. As Umbrella planned to use the biohazard in the laboratory as an opportunity to record combat data on their B.O.W.s, The Organization planned to steal that data.

Mansion Incident (July 1998)

In order to steal the data planned to be recorded by Umbrella, sometime prior to the mansion incident on July 24, 1998, The Organization came into contact with Albert Wesker and invited him to join them. After learning of their plans, Wesker made arrangements with them to steal Umbrella’s research data and the combat data from the mansion, fake his death and join The Organization. He also intended to bring them a gift in the form of the ultimate biological weapon scheduled for mass production: Tyrant. Meanwhile, he also intended to bring the Tyrant's combat data with him in order to become well-known within the company. At the climax of the mansion incident, the Tyrant was destroyed by S.T.A.R.S. Enraged at the loss of his gift, Wesker escaped the Arklay Laboratory prior to its destruction with the t-virus and related samples.

With the news of his death, Wesker still managed to join The Organization with a ruined reputation, relying on the samples and large amount of combat data he recorded in the mansion. Following his defection, the samples and data provided by Wesker allowed The Organization to begin developing their own B.O.W.s. Based on the success of the Hunter developed by Umbrella, The Organization used the information provided by Wesker to produce their own advanced version known as the "Hunter II", as well as the "Sweeper" subspecies.

Raccoon City Incident (August-October 1998)

In order to restore his lost pride and damaged reputation in The Organization, Wesker turned to the retrieval of the G-virus developed by William Birkin. Ada Wong, who was still undercover within Umbrella, reported that a researcher was close to the completion of the G-virus and refused to give it to Umbrella. Still acting in the shadows under the pre-tense of his death, Wesker requested the assistance of Ada to acquire the G-virus and enacted a plan to help Birkin in order to present the G-virus as a gift to The Organization. However, Umbrella mobilized their seizure operation faster and caused Wesker's plan to fail. On September 23, Birkin was killed by the U.S.S. (Umbrella Security Service) sent by Umbrella to seize the G-virus, but he injected himself with the virus and annihilated them as the "G" organism. The virus spread throughout the city, causing a biohazard. During the chaos, The Organization was able to retrieve the combat data of the Nemesis-T Type.

After recalling a time when Birkin told him that he often hid his research in his daughter's pendant, Wesker ordered Ada to locate Sherry Birkin so that she could be abducted and the virus could be taken from her. Ada managed to locate the Underground Laboratory and almost succeeded in retrieving the G-virus, but sacrificed herself to save Leon S. Kennedy. Meanwhile, the "G" creature was recorded as a test subject against Leon and Claire Redfield, and its combat data was retrieved. Just before the imminent destruction of Raccoon City, Ada resurfaced and made contact with Wesker. After presenting a tissue sample from "G" which contained the G-virus, Wesker saved Ada and the G-virus was presented to The Organization.

Rockfort Island Attack (December 27, 1998)

In September, a spy from "H.C.F.", a Special Forces group belonging to The Organization, was planted on Rockfort Island and soon gained full access to all areas of the residence. The spy reported back about information concerning Alexia Ashford, believed to be preparing for an awakening on the island with her body containing the t-Veronica virus. On December 27, Wesker was hired by The Organization to capture Alexia and led an attack on the island. Although Alexia was destroyed by Chris Redfield, Wesker retrieved the body of Steve Burnside, who was infected with the t-Alexia virus, a slightly modified strain of the Veronica virus. B.O.W. samples such as the Bandersnatch were retrieved from Rockfort Island. Utilizing the virus, The Organization began to develop new creatures.

Sacred Snakes (2001-2002)

Between 2001-2002, a B.O.W. developed by The Organization named the Jabberwock S3 was sold to a South American drug lord named Javier Hidalgo.

South Europe Incident (Autumn 2004)

In 2004, Wesker heard information about a parasite able to give its host superhuman abilities known as "Plaga", recently released in a remote mountainous region in Southern Europe by a cult known as "Los Illuminados". In order to get his hands on a dominant species Plaga sample, Wesker deployed Jack Krauser who carried out the kidnapping of Ashley Graham, the daughter of the U.S. President. Using her as leverage, Krauser was able to join the cult but was not allowed to get his hands on the sample and required assistance. Wesker invited Ada Wong to join The 3rd Organization, his own secret organization, and to conduct intelligence-gathering missions under his orders. Later, Wesker charged Ada with covertly retrieving the sample stolen by Luis Sera.

In the end, Ada succeeded in retrieving the dominant species Plaga sample, but betrayed Wesker for The Organization, sending Wesker a normal subordinate species Plaga sample instead. Despite this betrayal, Wesker managed to retrieve a dead dominant species Plaga specimen through another means; the corpse of Jack Krauser.

The status of The Organization following the incident in Southern Europe is unknown.
