The Novistador was a hybrid B.O.W. (Bio Organic Weapon) created by the Los Illuminados through combining a human host with insect genes and administering the Plaga parasite. 1
History
The Novistador was created by incorporating insect genes into the genetic structure of a human test subject and subsequently administering a Plaga parasite, due to the parasite's unique ability to fill in any gaps in a genetic structure with its own mutagenic properties. After several specimens were created, they were observed creating a giant nest in the Salazar family castle in order to breed. 2
Attributes
Although based on a human, the Novistador looked almost entirely like a giant insect and possessed a weak carapace that provided some level of protection against firearms. They were able to be controlled by a dominant species Plaga, although the extent of its intelligence is unknown. Its most unique feature was a chameleon-like ability to change the color of its carapace at will and blend in with virtually any environment in an extremely short time, enabling it to render itself completely invisible to the naked eye.
While camouflaged, it would wait for prey to pass by, then unleash a surprise attack with its sharp talon-like hands, ramming and kicking prey with its legs, or spewing up highly acidic stomach contents over them. A weaker type was produced as a result of reproduction between the initially developed specimens. This type did not possess any camouflage ability, but had large wings on its back that allowed it to fly. In order to attack enemies, it would generally fly in swarms.
Etymology
"Novistador" is faux-Spanish from "no vista" or literally "no sight", combined with dor, a common Spanish noun.
