A 'Novistador' was a hybrid "insect-human" B.O.W. created by the Los Illuminados.
History
Created in the Salazar family castle, the Novistador was one of the results of an attempt to splice the genes of humans with those of insects during application experiments with Las Plagas.
Attributes
The Novistador posseses a chameleon-like feature allowing it to change the color of its carapace at will and blend in with virtually any environment in a short space of time, enabling it to render itself completely invisible to the naked eye. As it adapts to its surroundings, it waits for prey to pass by before unleashing a surprise attack with its sharp talon-like hands or ramming and kicking their prey with their legs or spewing up highly acidic stomach contents over them. Despite being based on humans, its body is just like that of an insect.
Many "failed" weaker types were also produced as a result of reproduction between existing specimens and the creation of a giant "nest" in the Salazar family castle. These failed specimens do not possess the camouflage ability and have large wings on their back enabling them to fly. In order to attack enemies, they generally fly in swarms. They are able to be controlled by a dominant strain Plaga, as shown by the capture of Ashley Graham by one of them under the order of Ramon Salazar.
Etymology
"Novistador" is faux Spanish from "no vista" or literally "no sight", combined with dor, a common Spanish noun
