Classification

Common Name: Nosferatu
Base Organism: Human (Alexander Ashford)

Title

Nosferatu

History

This creature was originally the sixth-generation head of the Ashford Family; Alexander Ashford. In 1983, Alexander was subjected to an experiment with the T-Veronica virus by his own daughter, Alexia Ashford. As a result of his body not being able to coexist with the virus, the virus ravaged Alexander, causing a rapid cellular change and destroying his brain cells and body flesh. Alexander's body also began to develop a special form of poisonous gas.

He was imprisoned beneath the Umbrella Antarctic Base by both Alfred and Alexia, and left there. 15 years later, after hearing Alfred's scream as he plunged into a chasm, Alexander broke free of his restraints and pursued Claire Redfield and Steve Burnside. After almost killing Steve, it was successfully killed by Claire, while wielding the sniper rifle of Alfred Ashford.

Attributes

By the time of Nosferatu's escape from his bonds, the T-Veronica virus induced two major changes. Its heart became exposed through its ribcage, and it grew three appendages to compensate for its still bonded hands. These extra appendages helped it to move around and also acted as its main method of attack, becoming scythe-like blades. The poisonous gas its body produces also turned into a thick, purple fog upon contact with oxygen.

Etymology

"Nosferatu" means "Vampire Undead" in Romanian and was a nickname given to him by workers of the Umbrella Antarctic Base who heard his chilling cries and screams, unaware of the truth. It also means "immortal" in Lithuanian.
