History

Victor was born in the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (Российская Советская Федеративная Социалистическая Республика) and led a career in the Soviet Army (Советская Армия), where he rose to the rank of Captain. He was forced to resign after the collapse of the U.S.S.R. and retired. He then joined his wife's local guerilla organization to assist her cause in helping the ethnic minority she was a part of. During this time, he participated in numerous armed conflicts and race liberation wars in neighboring countries, as well as terrorist actions aimed at liberating various native peoples, one notable example being an attack on the home of an ambassador.

A natural leader, Victor led many well-organized actions to success, winning over the hearts and minds of his men in the process and becoming the group's leader. After attempting to lead a group of refugees over the border, he was cornered by government forces. In order to spare the civilians with them, he ordered his men to surrender immediately. He was captured along with his men and tried and convicted on charges of terrorism and sentenced to death with his execution scheduled for the next day.

While imprisoned he was approached by a representative from the Umbrella Corporation, who offered him a deal. He was forced to agree to join the U.B.C.S. (Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service) in exchange for the guaranteed safety of his men. He reluctantly accepted and was spared his death sentence, under the condition that he was to serve Umbrella. He joined the U.B.C.S. and retained his rank of Captain, and became the leader of Delta Platoon. He was placed in charge of 30 men. His leadership skills and powerful defiant spirit quickly won over his men, forging a loyal unit and drawing out the best qualities out of each of his subordinates. Likewise, he grew attached to his men.

Raccoon City Destruction Incident (Sep. 26 - Sep. 28)

Victor was deployed with Delta Platoon to Raccoon City on September 26, 1998. They were deployed into the center of the city which was swarming with Zombie creatures. Unable to resist the overwhelming number of Zombies, the platoon was wiped out. In the process, Victor was injured. He narrowly fled into a cable car with Corporal Carlos Oliveira and Sergeant Nicholai Zinoviev, the only other survivors of Delta Platoon. Heavily traumatized by the events and deeply affected by the loss of his men, Victor suffered from memory lapses and guilt. He became suicidal and engaged Zombies surrounding the cable car in battle, eliminating all of them. Despite his injuries, he pushed himself and exchanged words with Jill Valentine over the situation before calming down and remaining in the cable car.

As Valentine and Oliveira repaired the cable car; Victor was suddenly knocked by the Nemesis-T Type. He ordered Valentine out of the cable car and engaged the Nemesis in combat. After running out of ammunition, in a moment of complete desperation decided to blow himself up along with the Nemesis-T to allow Valentine and Oliveira to escape.
