Title

Jill Valentine

Jill Valentine was a former member of the Special Forces S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics and Rescue Service) of the Raccoon City police. She had years of tactical experience and certification and had received training in a training program of the U.S. Army Delta Force where she earned high grades in bomb disposal, making her an extremely competent and experienced member of any unit. She had a high combat efficiency and was very dexterous and proficient in the use of firearms and an expert at lock-picking, earning her the nickname "Master of Unlocking." After surviving the Mansion Incident and the biohazard in Raccoon City, she became the partner of Chris Redfield and joined a Private Anti-Bioterrorism Unit to combat the threat of bioterrorism and expose the illegal activities of the Umbrella Corporation. She later became one of the "Original Eleven" founding members of the BSAA (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance). Serious and with a sense of justice, she was straightforward and never hid her feelings. She was strong-minded, unyielding, intellectual and completely loyal to the mission, normally only showing her tough side to others. There were however times where she would let her guard down and reveal her softer side. No matter how difficult the mission, she never showed a hint of weakness. 1 2 3 4 5 6

History

Early History

At some point, Valentine began a career in the U.S. Army and took part in a training program of the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta (1st SFOD-D), more commonly known as "Delta Force"-- the primary counter-terrorist unit of the United States. The precise details of the program are unknown, and probably top-secret. Even when the program occurred is currently unknown, although she did receive several years worth of training and became an expert in EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), making her an exceptional asset to any counter-terrorism unit. She was trained in the Special Operations Training Facility in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Whilst there, she received training in marksmanship and the use of firearms, with her lock-picking skills being honed to the point where she can pick around 60 different types of locks. She received her training in demolitions and bomb disposal outside the facility at "Range 19 Alpha". At some point, she was acquainted with Forest Speyer.

In 1996 she was recruited for her already well-developed fighting skills into the newly-formed Special Forces unit of the Raccoon City Police Department-- S.T.A.R.S. Her reasoning behind joining was to "experience the true feeling of life" and because she could not forgive people who endangered the lives of civilians. She became a member of the Alpha Team assigned to position RS (Rear Security).

Mansion Incident (Jul. 24-25, 1998)

On July 24, 1998, the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha Team was deployed to the forest region surrounding Raccoon City in response to Bravo Team's disappearance the previous day. Shortly after landing, the Alpha Team found themselves fleeing for their lives from a pack of bloodthirsty Cerberus creatures, and the group retreated into the nearby mansion. Forced to proceed through the mansion and unravel its various secrets and puzzles, she found herself faced with many dangerous situations, and would have surely died if it were not for the presence of Barry Burton, who aided her throughout their investigation. She was unable to maintain her strong and brave demeanor while being faced with gruesome sights one after another, and was forced to witness the re-animation of her former comrades. She also witnessed the murder of Enrico Marini. Later, it became clear that Burton was secretly working against his own comrades.

Valentine eventually found herself inside the secret underground laboratory beneath the mansion, with the entire complex being revealed to be the Arklay Laboratory, a top-secret laboratory owned by the Umbrella Corporation. She learned of the true nature behind the creatures infesting the area. The surviving S.T.A.R.S. members uncovered the treachery of their own Captain, Albert Wesker, as well as his threat on Burton's family and plot to betray Umbrella. Following the incident, a bounty was placed on confirmation of the deaths of the surviving members.

After returning to the police station in an injured and exhausted state, Valentine and the other surviving S.T.A.R.S. members were hospitalized. After being discharged, she filed a report on the creatures at the mansion. 7 When no investigation was opened, she confronted the Chief Brian Irons with her comrades and demanded that he open immediate investigations into the incident. Their claims were dismissed due to lack of evidence which had all been destroyed along with the mansion. Unknown to them, Irons had been receiving bribes from Umbrella. S.T.A.R.S. was disbanded and Chris Redfield began to conduct his own investigation into Umbrella, eventually letting Valentine in on it and informing her about the existence of the G-virus. 8 She swore on an alliance with Redfield in their goal to destroy Umbrella. In August, Redfield made plans to travel to Europe with Burton to bring their investigation straight to Umbrella Headquarters, while Valentine stayed behind in Raccoon City to investigate the secret Umbrella laboratory beneath the city.

Raccoon City Destruction Incident (Sep. 23-Oct. 1, 1998)

By late September, the t-virus had caused a biohazard in Raccoon City, and it became overrun by Zombies and other mutated creatures. Valentine found herself flung into a nightmare she thought was long past her, and was forced to flee through the streets. On September 28, she discovered that she was being stalked by a new B.O.W. called the Nemesis-T Type, deployed by Umbrella to eliminate the surviving S.T.A.R.S. members. Having to witness the execution of Brad Vickers by the creature, she encountered it many times during the course of her escape attempt. She began cooperating with a group of soldiers from the U.B.C.S. (Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service), namely Carlos Oliveira, and mutually agreed to aid them in getting to the extraction point at the St. Michael's Clock Tower. Oliveira provided her with strong emotional support, which enabled her to press on. After arriving at the clock tower, she was infected with a stronger form of the t-virus by the Nemesis-T. Rendered unconscious for nearly 3 days, her fate was left in the hands of Oliveira, who rushed to the Raccoon General Hospital and managed to create a vaccine. The vaccine worked, and Valentine was saved.

Continuing her attempt to escape, she encountered the Nemesis-T again before reaching a waste disposal plant operated by Umbrella and disguised as an abandoned factory. She reunited with Oliveira in the plant and learned that the city would be destroyed via missile strike at dawn. She encountered the Umbrella operative Nicholai Zinoviev one last time before his escape, leaving her at the mercy of the missile strike that would soon vaporize Raccoon City. At the last moment, Valentine and Oliveira received a garbled transmission from Barry Burton, who had come to rescue her in a civilian helicopter. The two raced to meet him, at which point she found herself faced by the mutated Nemesis-T again. Using the "Demon Sword of Paracelsus" magnetic rail cannon, she managed to destroy the creature. She escaped with Burton and Oliveira at dawn on October 1, vowing to bring down Umbrella.

She began searching for Chris Redfield so that the two could finally conduct their investigation as originally planned. However, on December 27, her search managed to turn up an empty apartment hideout of his, his blood-covered knife left on the ground. At the time, he had left for Rockfort Island in order to rescue his sister. Following his return, the pair reunited and joined a Private Anti-Bioterrorism Unit in 1999, funded by rival pharmaceutical companies of Umbrella, in order to continue their anti-Umbrella activities. Over the next few years, they committed themselves to resolving bioterrorism incidents around the world in their attempt to bring down Umbrella.

Umbrella's End (Feb. 18, 2003)

In 2003, the Russian government obtained intelligence leaked by Albert Wesker about the development of a new-type B.O.W. by the Russian branch of Umbrella. The government funded an operation to raid the facility and deployed the Russian branch of the Private Anti-Bioterrorism Unit, with Valentine and Redfield taking part. Fighting their way through the overground facility, they managed to reach the deepest depths of the underground laboratory and encountered the T-A.L.O.S. prototype, the new B.O.W. they had heard about that was Umbrella's final attempt at reviving the company. They managed to destroy the prototype, signifying the end of Umbrella, and turned their attention to the apprehension of Wesker.

BSAA Foundation (2003)

With the fall of Umbrella and the age of bioterrorism thrust upon the world, the private anti-bioterrorism unit which Valentine belonged to became one of the foundations for the BSAA (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance) established by the Federation of Pharmaceutical Companies. They became two of the "Original Eleven" founding members. They stopped bioweapons in Asia, destroyed bioweapon labs in South America, arrested smugglers in Europe, and patrolled the world in an attempt to stamp out all bioweapons. Throughout their activities, while they may have suspected the long fingers of Umbrella being involved, they never had any conclusive proof.

Veltro Resurrection Incident (2005)

In 2005, Valentine was ordered to investigate strange carcasses being washed up on the shore of a coastal town. She was partnered with Parker Luciani, and met with BSAA Director Clive R. O'Brian who asked them to scan the corpses for sample data. They discovered a vial within one of the corpses presumably containing a new viral strain. After returning the sample data to O'Brian, he received an emergency call stating that Chris Redfield and Jessica Sherawat had gone missing, their last known coordinates placing them on a ship in the Mediterranean Sea. Making their way to the ship, known as the Queen Zenobia via tugboat, they discovered it was now a ghost ship. They encountered a new B.O.W. known as "Ooze" and eventually discovered Redfield. However upon attempting to talk to him, they find that he was actually a dummy. Sleeping gas poured into the room, and they were confronted by a masked man who told Valentine that it was time for her to learn the truth.

After awakening and regrouping with Luciani, they encountered an FBC (Federal Bioterrorism Commission) agent named Raymond Vester, who refused to answer their questions and disappeared. They eventually discovered a video recorded by the terrorist group Il Veltro and become convinced that the group was behind the events on the ship. They eventually met Redfield and Sherawat, and uncovered that the masked man was actually Vester. Valentine partnered with Redfield once again and they neutralized the t-Abyss virus and discovered that the 2004 bioterrorism attack on Terragrigia was orchestrated by FBC Commissioner Morgan Lansdale. They met with a wounded Luciani and discovered that Sherawat was a mole in the BSAA planted by Lansdale. After failing to stop Luciani from falling after a mesh bridge gave way, they believed him to be dead. They successfully destroyed a whale infected with parasites carrying t-Abyss known as Malacoda, and escaped from the sinking Queen Zenobia. They were informed of the true nature behind the mission by O’Brian, and ordered to retrieve the video evidence implicating Lansdale from the sunken Queen Dido.

Upon arriving at the Queen Dido, Valentine and Redfield discovered that several members of Veltro had survived for a year since the ship sank at Terragrigia, and encountered the group’s leader Jack Norman, who mutated due to the effects of the t-Abyss virus. After defeating his monster form known as Ultimate Abyss, they played back the video implicating Lansdale to the BSAA. Lansdale was promptly arrested, and the pair returned via helicopter. That year, the FBC was dissolved and the BSAA was reformed with more jurisdiction, allowing Valentine to participate directly in counter bioterrorism operations.

Spencer Estate Inrush Operation (August 2006)

In 2006, the BSAA discovered the location of Oswell E. Spencer and sent Valentine and Redfield to arrest him, with the pair hoping that he would lead them to Albert Wesker. After making their way through the Spencer Estate and encountering several unknown creatures, they entered the estate's study hall and found Spencer dead on the ground with Wesker standing in front of them. The three engaged in battle, with Wesker easily defeating them. After being flung against a bookcase, Valentine was faced with Wesker preparing to make the finishing blow on Redfield. She ran for Wesker and tackled him out of the window over a cliff. The BSAA initiated a full-scale search operation for them, but neither their bodies nor personal effects were found. On November 23, Valentine was officially declared dead and her name was added to the list of BSAA members who had died in the line of duty, and a grave without her body was made.

While neither of them died from the fall, Valentine was severely injured and unconscious. Intending to exact his own personal revenge, Wesker took her, giving her the medical care she required and intending to use her as the first test subject for the Uroboros Project. However, he soon found abnormalities within her body. Her t-virus infection from the Nemesis-T in Raccoon City was not actually destroyed by the vaccine and had been lying dormant over the years. After being placed in stasis, the virus within her body reactivated and soon disappeared completely due to the presence of powerful anti-bodies in her body, forged after years of the virus' presence in her body. Seeing this as an opportunity to make his Uroboros virus less potent, Wesker continued to extract the anti-bodies from her body for a period of time. Side effects of her experimentation included a pigmentation abnormality, leading to her hair turning a light blonde, as well as skin etiolating giving her an extremely pale complexion. She remained a test subject of TRICELL.

With a sufficient amount of antibodies extracted from Valentine, Wesker saw no need for her until the discovery of the drug "P30", derived from the Progenitor virus research. The drug granted the subject superhuman strength and made them highly susceptible to control. However, the body metabolized the drug too quickly for it to be of any use. As a solution, Valentine was implanted with a mechanical device in her chest that would continuously inject her with the drug. However, it was unknown whether continuous administration would cause damage to the subject's body. They decided to use her as a test subject in order to find out.

Irving Arrest Operation (March 2009)

Under Wesker's servitude, Valentine began to wear a long poncho and bird mask and was used to serve as a bodyguard to Excella Gionne and Ricardo Irving. In March 2009, she was ordered to protect Irving and stop Redfield and Sheva Alomar. When Irving failed to dispose of them, she caught him attempting to flee with his accumulated wealth and forced him to take action. She gave him an embryo of a dominant species Plaga and instructed him to inject himself with it as his last attempt to kill them. She then boarded a speedboat and made her way to the cave system leading to the Uroboros Laboratory.

Valentine was forced to confront Redfield and Alomar in a battle alongside Wesker. While still under his control, she exhibited signs of defiance which resulted in excruciating pain. She was eventually removed from Wesker's control after the removal of the device on her chest. After convincing Redfield to continue and stop Wesker, she collapsed and was found by Josh Stone. Immediately following, the two fought their way through the Tricell facility and rendezvoused with a BSAA helicopter piloted by Doug. Following Doug's death, the two commandeered the helicopter and set off to aid Redfield and Alomar in their battle against Wesker, saving them just in time and enabling them to finish off Wesker with the use of two rocket launchers. With the incident resolved and their nemesis dead, the four returned home.

Valentine was left physically and mentally exhausted following her three year ordeal as a test subject.
