Ivy +YX was a prototype variation of the Ivy (officially known as "Plant 43") developed by the Umbrella Corporation. 1
History
After the idea of increasing the Ivy's resistance to fire was quickly given up due to the body problem, a proposal to improve its movement speed was submitted several times and eventually approved, leading to the development of the "Ivy +YX". By combining the Ivy with a human gene, huge improvement was observed in the endurance, offensive ability and mobility of the Ivy +YX.
However, mass production was shelved as sufficient capability could not be demonstrated in any environments other than warm climates, as they were based on the South American Marsh Pitcher Plant, an insectivore plant species accustomed to warm climates. At some point, several Ivy +YX prototypes ended up in the hands of Javier Hidalgo and were used as substitutes for guard dogs of his private residence. 2
Attributes
While similar in appearance to the regular Ivy, this B.O.W. possessed a much more humanoid appearance, particularly in the lower portion of its body. As a result of the introduction of a human gene, it had legs resembling those of a human granting it much more advanced moobility over the original Ivy, which was one of its weaknesses. Its attack methods were identical to the regular Ivy, however it possessed superior endurance and mobility.
