A relatively unknown virus derived from the Progenitor virus, developed by Alex Wesker. It has no official name, and has been colloquially dubbed the "Immortality virus", after its purpose.
History
Under direct orders from Ozwell E. Spencer following the Raccoon City incident, Alex Wesker was ordered to research and develop a virus which would grant its host functional immortality. Spencer desired to take advantage of Progenitor's capacity to maintain telomere length indefinitely; this property would permit dividing cells to remain healthy and circumvent one of the primary biological causes of aging. Spencer provided Alex with funding, researchers, materials, equipment and test subjects, using an abandoned military installation on an isolated island in the South Seas in order for him to conduct research on the virus.
By early 2006, a successful experiment with the virus was conducted with the success being reported to Spencer. Shortly after however, Alex Wesker disappeared completely, the installation being abandoned once more. Spencer recorded in his private memoirs his belief that a completed version of the Immortality virus was developed, but was stolen by Alex. The current status of the virus and its creator is unknown.
