Hunter R (dev. code: "MA-125") is an improved version of the Hunter B.O.W. that was created in the Underground Laboratory beneath Raccoon City using the combat data obtained on the Hunter α at the Arklay Laboratory.
History
The "R" models are grown from infancy with more focus being put on the Hunter's agility rather than its attack capabilities. The result sees the most reptilian looking version of any Hunter model. It was one of several Hunter models developed in order to improve upon the α model, and was created with the use of improved genes and boasting superior intelligence. It was developed by a research team led by William Birkin. Several specimens escaped from their containment in the laboratory and proceeded to go on a killing spree leading to the death of several researchers. They were frozen due to the efforts of a single researcher, but were later released after the lab's temperature control was reset.
A smaller variation of the "R" series, the Hunter μ was also developed, and was stored at the Raccoon City Laboratory. This variation has inferior combat aptitude and mobility.
