Fenrir was a wolf-based B.O.W. developed by administering the t-virus to a Scandanavian wolf. There were two types; a smaller version with a predominately white coat and a larger version with a predominately black coat.
History
The Fenrir was created in 2005 with deployment among mountains in mind, particularly those of Scandinavia. It projected its wild nature and combat power, but as it was based on a wild animal and was not previously domesticated or trained, its control characteristic was inferior compared with the Doberman pinscher-based "Cerberus" which was both previously domesticated and had received military training prior to infection.
Attributes
The Fenrir had two notable characteristics in its appearance. Much of its body had rotted away to reveal a huge hole in its chest with exposed and protruding ribs, and its eyes became a deep red color. As the social characteristic of the wolf strongly remained in Fenrir, it hunted in packs. These packs would not attack prey at once like the Cerberus, but would instead observe prey at a distance, surround it in a group, and gradually torture it to death after cutting off any possible retreat. The echoed howling of Fenrir among the mountains was the signal which conveyed the beginning of a hunt.
Etymology
As it was based on the Scandinavian Wolf, the Fenrir was named after the monstrous wolf in Norse mythology local to Scandinavia, described in the Prose Edda, Heimskringla, and Poetic Edda.
