History

Developed by Dr. James Marcus (and later by the Umbrella Corporation) by repeating a test he formerly conducted on primates with the Progenitor virus 2, among the various types of mammals involved in the experiment where Marcus administered the t-virus, the only one which could reach the completeness of a human-based B.O.W. was the Eliminator. Originally monkeys with high intelligence, they are capable of adhering to simple orders or directions. 3

Initially, Umbrella attempted to put the Eliminator into mass-production but due to its limited abilities and capability of only understanding basic commands, the plan was given up. In conclusion, the Umbrella research team finally began to conduct B.O.W. research on humans - leading to the Tyrant Program. Any specimens which remained in the Umbrella Research Center in July 1998 were released by the Queen Leech in an attempt to kill Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen.

Although development on the B.O.W. was dropped, Eliminators were eventually put into mass-production at some point following the Raccoon City incident due to their low-cost and effectiveness at a time when Umbrella could not operate in the same capacity as it could before October 1998. They were developed and stored at the Caucasus Laboratory and were among the countless B.O.W.s which Umbrella began to supply to destabilized regions and conflict zones throughout the world.

Attributes

Physically, after t-virus administration the muscle tissue of the monkey subject begins to strengthen and swell to an extent where it tears through the subject's skin. Its tendons are clearly visible beneath its chapped skin, showing the unbelievable level of muscle enhancement. This increased muscle dexterity grants them improved agility and resistance. 4 5

Mentally, Eliminators have less brain cell degradation than a Zombie. The virus also does not destroy the information transmission between its nerves to its brain. This allows them to retain a high level of intelligence and adhere to basic commands. Physically, the virus greatly promotes the metabolism of the Eliminator, which is likely the reason for their lack of mental degradation. Like the Zombie, hunger drives the Eliminator to attack any and all prey it can find, and it uses its incredible jumping power and speed to launch a savage attack on its prey. 6
