Brian Irons served as the Chief of Police for the Raccoon Police Department and accepted bribes from Umbrella. He also wrote an autobiography and was an avid art fanatic who's other hobbies included taxidermy.
History
While passing himself off as a law-abiding citizen wanting the very best for the city he was charged with protecting, Brian Irons hid a dark side he would frequently expose with his strange taste in art and outbursts of anger. When in college, Irons was charged with rape on two seperate accounts, but was released due to circumstantial evidence and his phenomenal academic standing.
He became Chief of Police for the R.P.D. soon after it's establishment when it was renovated from an art museum, a fact that Irons' love for art may have had a hand in. During his tenure, he became involved with covering up the dealings of Umbrella within the city, as well as the existence of the Arklay Research Facility in the Arklay Mountains as a part of their crisis management scheme. He was bribed with large sums of money regularly from Umbrella, which he used to great personal extent in decorating the R.P.D. with his art taste. His primary contact from Umbrella within Raccoon City itself was none other than William Birkin, who's research facility beneath the city was one such Umbrella asset Irons' was charged with covering up. One such painting, "Sacrifice to the Hellfire" generally disgusted the R.P.D. staff, and more specifically his own secretary who was repulsed as Irons looked at the painting admirably. Irons' office itself was also highly decorated with artwork and stuffed animals, including a large tiger in his office hallway and several rare and exotic specimens. At the back of his office however was a secret passageway leading to a dark and putrid torture chamber, clearly having been used and filled with chemicals and torture devices. This passage also acted as Irons' direct route to Birkin's research facility, which Irons' made regular visits to.
Mansion Incident Cover-Up
Following the return of the surviving S.T.A.R.S. members from their disastrous mission in the Arklay Mountains, the team attempted to convince Chief Irons to open up an investigation of Umbrella. Irons however simply shrugged off the survivor's claims and closed the entire case with no pending investigations, dismissing their reports completely. Under his order, the Raccoon Police Department's S.T.A.R.S. unit was completely dissolved. Following this, Irons' was also charged with murdering the surviving members due to their knowledge of Umbrella's secrets in viral weaponary in a way that would seem "accidental".
T-virus Outbreak
Before the Raccoon City incident, William Birkin liased with Irons' on preventing the Umbrella Security Service sent by Umbrella Europe from stealing the G-virus from Birkin. These efforts were for naught however, as the U.S.S. Alpha and Bravo teams successfully infiltrated the city sewers and gained access to Birkin's laboratory. With this and the increasing number of cannibal attacks throughout the city caused by the ever-increasing number of zombies in the city, Irons' went insane and filled with anger and disgust towards Umbrella. Around the time the chaos in the city began to mount up, Irons' ordered the entire R.P.D. weapons division split up and scattered in positions that were extremely confusing and beared no tactical advantage whatsoever. This caused the R.P.D.'s defences to be of very little effect, and their main offensive held outside the Johnson National Bank proved to be a complete disaster. With the entire precinct almost completely wiped out, Irons' decided to hunt down and murder the remaining R.P.D. officers himself.
Now alone within the precinct, Irons' holed himself up in his office, murdering Mayor Michael Warren's daughter who he was charged with protecting and intending to turn her into another one of his taxidermy models.
Death
Irons' encountered Claire Redfield, and after initially passing himself off as nothing more than the worried police chief he should be, he later turned on her in his torture chamber. He then informed her of Umbrella's involvment in the whole affair, and before pulling the trigger on his Desert Eagle, he was taken by surprise and pulled through a nearby manhole by none other than the mutated William Birkin. His last moments were spent in pain as the now G-Type William ripped his entire body apart.
