The Anubis was a B.O.W. developed by the Umbrella Corporation as a replacement for the Hunter B.O.W. This new Bio Organic Weapon system incorporated insect genes with those of a bat. 1 2
History
After research data on the Hunter was leaked out to "The Organization", Umbrella decided to discontinue development of any new models in the Hunter series. Instead, they decided to develop a secondary main B.O.W. as a means of replacement. This concept became the "Anubis". By splicing the genes of a bat with those of an insect, Umbrella researchers were able to manufacture this new B.O.W. and decided to remove unecessary flesh and organs in order to reduce weight, allowing for a more nimble creature. 3
At some point, several of these B.O.W.s were purchased by Javier Hidalgo from Umbrella.
Attributes
Physically, it resembles a skeletal creature. Since its digestive organs have been removed, its weight has been greatly reduced making it extremely nimble with astonishing agility and jumping ability, it can jump and move with incredible speed, possessing astounding skeletal strength. It skillfully uses its talon-like claws to scale walls and ceilings with its hook-like claws, and attacks its victims from these vantage points. If any creatures pass through, the Anubis launches an immediate attack from above. 4
Etymology
This B.O.W. was named after Anubis, the jackal-headed Egyptian God of the Dead.
