Ants utilized as test subjects for the t-Veronica virus by Alexia Ashford. 1
History
The Ants observed in the Umbrella Antarctic Base were raised by Alexia for her viral research, and grew to the size of small birds once infected with the t-Veronica virus, exhibiting high aggressiveness in comparison to normal ants and generally swarming in order to attack prey with their large pincers. With Alexia as their queen, the Ants built a colony within the Alexia-Pod beneath the control room in the Antarctic Base. 2
Attributes
As the t-Veronica virus is created from the Progenitor virus and an ancient virus found in a queen ant, Ants are the only creature that can peacefully co-exist with the virus upon immediate infection. While Antarctica is devoid of any indigenous ant life normally, these ants are now able to live in the harsh climate of Antarctica relatively well as a result of their t-Veronica administration. The most noticeable differences caused by the virus are high growth and hostility. Since Alexia is their queen, they exist to serve her and are fully subject to her will. 3
